there is not a single role chris pratt does that jack black couldn’t do better
at the people saying jack black couldn’t play star lord: why? no really, go ahead and tell me. I think I know the answer but I want to hear you say it.
Everyone on the notes has galaxy brain energy
Jack Black should have won awards for Jumanji I said what I said
IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (1946) • JIMMY STEWART as George Bailey and LIONEL BARRYMORE as Mr. Potter

20 YEARS OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY
(DECEMBER 19, 2001)
It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened?
But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something.
What are we holding on to, Sam? That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS (2001 - 2003)
PERSONALLY I THINK MY OBSESSION WITH NIGHT AND THE DARK IS COOL AND FINE AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY LIFELONG CHRONIC INSOMNIA. I AM BUILT DIFFERENT AND WORSE.

Sounds like most Chihuahuas and I would bet a prior Chihuahua owner would take him.
I didn’t think the picture could do him justice after that description but it absolutely does and I for one am delighted
I only saw the second part of this post until now. the context is even better than I could have imagined
His Instagram is @prancerthechihuahua if anyone would like further updates on this little demon Bologna Face.
Here are some recent updates for those without IG:
-Prancer is very happy with his human Mom and has begrudgingly allowed some men in his presence!
-Prancer was formally recognized by the mayor of New Haven on National dog day this past year!
-Prancer can make public appearances sometimes, because he has a mom who loves and supports him.
-He’s come back to New Jersey a few times to see his old neighborhood and in his life as an adopted good boy, Prancer has discovered fashion!
Here is his glow up!
Ready for Spooky Season
Just look at him! He’s so happy 🥰
I don’t think any piece of art has ever emotionally affected me the way this robot arm piece has affected me. It’s called “Can’t Help Myself” and it’s a robot arm that’s programmed to clean up the fluid that’s constantly leaking out of itself, that looked like a never ending flow of blood. It has programmed dance moves to make it appear to have human gestures. And at first, it seemed happy and proud of its job, dancing around when it had visitors. But three years later, it looks tired, hopeless, and like it’s living in a never ending cycle of constantly trying to put itself back together for the entertainment of other people. And when I found out that it had finally stopped working in 2019, essentially dying, I couldn’t help but imagine the relief it must’ve felt and so I’ve been in here crying over a robot arm. 🥺 It was programmed this way, it truly couldn’t help itself. And no one ever helped him, they just watched.
In this work commissioned for the Guggenheim Museum, Sun Yuan & Peng Yu employ an industrial robot, visual-recognition sensors, and software systems to examine our increasingly automated global reality, one in which territories are controlled mechanically and the relationship between people and machines is rapidly changing. Placed behind clear acrylic walls, their robot has one specific duty, to contain a viscous, deep-red liquid within a predetermined area. When the sensors detect that the fluid has strayed too far, the arm frenetically shovels it back into place, leaving smudges on the ground and splashes on the surrounding walls.
Sun Yuan & Peng Yu are known for using dark humor to address contentious topics, and the robot’s endless, repetitive dance presents an absurd, Sisyphean view of contemporary issues surrounding migration and sovereignty. However, the bloodstain-like marks that accumulate around it evoke the violence that results from surveilling and guarding border zones. Such visceral associations call attention to the consequences of authoritarianism guided by certain political agendas that seek to draw more borders between places and cultures and to the increasing use of technology to monitor our environment.
every now and then i have to think of the roman family from two thousand years ago that buried their little daughter in a boy's athletic-themed sarcophagus and i weep a little because that's the softest declaration of love i can possibly imagine
i am once again emotional and sleep deprived so let me elaborate to make myself feel better.
octavia paulina was a six year old girl whose sarcophagus was found in her family's tomb at via triumphalis in rome, dated roughly around the third century a.d. her parents mourned her mors immatura, her premature death, by having the wall behind her sarcophagus painted with the image of a giant meadow with children and a chariot pulled by doves accompanied by hermes leading an unconscious girl into afterlife. (to my knowledge, the doves and the fact that they were led by hermes was a symbol for hope.)
the sarcophagus itself shows athletic competitions between girls and boys alike, and in the most important one on the front, octavia paulina appears as the winner (a palm branch in her hand, which is meant to symbolize her strength and honor, her virtus). her opponent is sitting on the floor, upset. what really stands out is that octavia paulina's parents ordered a common sarcophagus that was usually used to bury boys with athletic interests or futures but then proceeded to have it remodeled — smaller heads and genitalia cut off etc — to include girls in the relief.
i just get very soft when i think about parents ordering a sarcophagus for their little daughter who think it's perfect for her and who remodel it to make it even more accurate for her. the thought of parents more than 1.700 years ago thinking their six year old daughter deserves a sarcophagus that fits her personality (rather than what was expected of her as a young girl of the time) despite none being available and then ordering for it to be altered makes me wanna scream because it's such a human and caring thing to do. maybe octavia paulina even had a say in this because it took weeks to months to make a sarcophagus this detailed.
disclaimer: a lot of this messy little thing was transcribed from what my professor has told us in his sarcophagus class and this article; this is just a rambling post, it isn't detailed or well put or structured properly, and not fit for scientific research.
kinda sad to get to the time of year when everyone on the internet starts memeing about how they gotta go play hours of #cool-special-indie music on mute for the next few months just so their spotify wrapped looks good at the end of the year. idk i just find it depressing to see how even your most private and personal joys, even the music you listen to, must be tweaked and polished and contrived so it can be presented to the world. how even your taste in music must be performed.
This is what my Spotify recommended today... Clearly I'm not performing my music taste very well

Chocolate man my beloved
This is also a very special chocolate sculpture (they all are, but this one is special for him). He recently became a citizen after 8 years in the US and wanted to memorialize it... And damn he went hard! It's a nice double tribute since he's French, and the Statue of Liberty was a gift to the US from France. Lovely!
There, peeping among the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for a while. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.
# sir that’s my emotional support story
Not sure how well my mental health is doing when I died laughing at this. I'm not even exaggerating, tears came to my eyes. Because of this dumb r/notinteresting post.
Okay but please, for the love of god, go read the Wikipedia article on the guy who got struck by lightning seven times. His name is Roy Sullivan and when I tell you I could barely breath for laughing so hard, I am not exaggerating. I feel bad for the guy, but I'm telling you...
"Although he never was a fearful man, after the fourth strike he began to believe that some force was trying to destroy him and he acquired a fear of death."
Uhhh, yeah, I would think that too! I'm surprised it took four strikes for him to start thinking that.
Unusually, he was hit while in his truck, driving on a mountain road—the metal body of a vehicle normally protects people from lightning strikes by acting as a Faraday Cage. The lightning first hit nearby trees and was deflected into the open window of the truck.
My guy. Had such bad luck. That lightning HIT a tree, BOUNCED off, and struck him through his open truck window.
"He claimed that this was the twenty-second time he hit a bear with a stick in his lifetime.
Like, friends, this dude got struck by lightning for the SEVENTH time, then turned around to find a bear, which he then hit with a stick (which I guess is a common experience for him).
Also, almost every account of the lightning strikes mentions his hair getting set on fire. Objectively a terrible thing to happen, but freaking hilarious in the context of the article, which mentions it so calmly...
"Sullivan crawled to his truck and poured the can of water, which he always kept there, over his head, which was on fire.
And another (perhaps the best of the bunch due to the cloud that he thought was chasing him...which, at this point, he really has every right to believe):
It was reported that he saw a cloud, thought that it was following him, tried to run away, but was struck anyway. His hair also caught fire.
Please. I'm begging you. Read it.
