Mr. Darcy to himself: nailed it.
Jane Eyre 2011
Mr. Darcy is not a bad boy who realises the error of his ways and reforms because of love.
He is the best of boys. He has some superficial faults which, as he himself points out, are not of understanding. These genuine but ultimately minor character flaws are misinterpreted and exagerrated by a charming but judgemental young woman who has her own issues to work through.
Morally and in every way that matters about a person, he is not a bad boy and Pride and Prejudice is not a bad boy/good girl narrative.
You want an actual bad boy in P&P? Try looking at the superficially charming and attractive sleezeball who bad mouths and spreads malicious, character-ruining rumours about his benefactor and tried to seduce two 15 year old girls for questionable motives. George Wickham. An actual 18th century bad boy.
As Elizabeth says, āOne has all the goodness and the other all of the appearance of it.ā (May be a misquote.)
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
Iām actually reading P&P for the fifth time. ā¤ļø
Donāt you just hate it when youāre in love with a man who keeps his crazy wife hidden away in the attic? Quite the let down if you ask me.
So Iām going to make a list of my personal classic book recommendations. Now, these are well known and Iām sure anyone who sees this will most likely have read them, but just in case here they are. These arenāt in any particular order as far as favorites, however.
BOOK RECS:
-The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexandre Dumas)
-The Three Musketeers (Alexandre Dumas)
-The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde)
-Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen)
-Mansfield Park (Jane Austen)
-The Tennent of Wildfell Hall (Anne Bronte)
-Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte)
-Redeaming Love (Francine Rivers)
-A Room With a View (E.M Forster)
-Sense and Sensibility (Jane Austen)
-Wives and Daughters (Elizabeth Gaskell)
-North and South (Elizabeth Gaskell)
-Northanger Abbey (Jane Austen)
-Of Mice and Men (John Steinbeck)
In my brain fog, I canāt seem to think of any other books Iāve read, so when I think of more I can update it.

āThere is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, Morrel, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of living.ā
ā The Count of Monte Cristo, Dumas
I often think about how dāArtagnan is the human embodiment of āthis is why we canāt have nice things.ā
Just a little something I threw together. ā¤ļø
Iām in love with the Penguin English Library editions. This is my collection so far, and I hope it continues to grow.
Lockscreen wallpaper! I love making these:)
Pride and Prejudice is one of those movies that you watch every once in a while to calm down.. like, the nostalgia makes you feel safe when youāre a little afraid of how fast the time flies by. itās like a steady rock in the chaotic ocean of life: you watch that movie, and for a moment itās like nothing changed at all
I love this addition so much.
āYour hands are cold.ā - Elizabeth Bennett
Big understatement.
Some wallpaper Iām making
