Same project, different resin. On the left we have @fauxrizzle_resin and on the right @totalboat ... Here is my honest review of these two popular deep cast epoxies: . 🌸Total Boat🌸 . PROS: . ⬆️ Longer pot time. I'm kinda slow and like to be deliberate with my art so I love that. . ⬆️ Cost. Totalboat is a fraction of the cost of Faux Rizzle which is important to me because I am in fact a starving artist haha (yay bills) . ⬆️ Heat resistant. For making coasters, heat resistance up to 125° is darn good! . ⬆️ No odor. I literally can't smell it at all. . CONS: . ⬇️ Degasses pretty well as long as you don't overfill. This is a pro overall but compared to FR it's a slight con. FR degasses a bit better and even times I have overfilled a mold it still worked like a champ. . ⬇️ Petri effect. The petri effect that lots of people love doesn't do as well. The ink dissipates much more. Perhaps I should try waiting until the resin has set up for a bit so it's thicker? Food for thought. 🌸 Faux Rizzle🌸 . PROS: . ⬆️ Clarity. The clarity is immaculate. This goes along with degassing. Faux Rizzle is CRYSTAL clear. . ⬆️ Petri effect. The petri effect is gorgeous with Faux Rizzle. I looooove the look of the inks in this resin. . ⬆️ Heat resistant. Faux Rizzle is heat resistant up to a whopping 500° which seems like overkill but I'm not complaining. . ⬆️ Low odor. It definitely smells like SOMETHING but it's very minimal. . CONS: . ⬇️ Short pot time. I have accidentally left it in my cup too long and it's totally started curing in the cup. I'm too slow haha maybe this isn't a problem for most people . ⬇️ Weird film? There's like a weird film it gets and idk what it is but it's annoying. It doesn't seem to affect the final product it's just weird. . ⬇️ Price. I literally can't afford it. It is a really high quality product though so you get what you pay for? . . . In conclusion; I don't really know.
