I switched from insulin syringes to pens! I use the blue pen for my Humilin N and my pink pen for my Humolog. I haven't noticed a huge change in the comfort level from syringes to pens, though I pens are a lot shorter (well, only 2mm, but it seems like a lot [I used 6mm syringes and am now using 4mm pen needles])

I like the look of pens way better than syringes it is more discreet which I really like. People don't automatically assume you are shooting up drugs when they say you with a pen, unlike when you are using a syringe :)

Hello again!

I just wanted to do a quick post about what I do for my T1D treatment. Of course I count carbs, and I have set times for my meals and carb targets. The rapid acting insulin that I use is Humalog, and my long acting insulin is Humulin N.

I currently use syringes and MDI (Multiple Daily Injections) to deliver my insulin. But I am switching to using insulin pens very soon :) I'm really excited.

Here is what I do for my Humulin N and what my carb targets are

For my Humalog and my sliding scale, I base my dosage upon my blood sugar (blood glucose). I live in Canada and use the mmol/L system. If you use the mg/dL I'll put a chart down below

Hi!

Welcome to my new blog. Here, I'll introduce myself!

My name is a bit of a secret, but you can call me Lilac. I turned sixteen in July 2016 and finally got my drivers license in January 2017. I love the freedom!

I have Type 1 Diabetes. I was diagnosed on November 11, 2013, when I was thirteen years old. I'll probably post about my diagnosis story later :)

I'm currently into photography (though I am such an amateur, but hopefully with a budding blog, I'll be able to improve my skills). I also love gardening and plan to plant an herb garden when the snow clears. I adore cooking, though counting carbs in baking is SUCH a hassle! But health is important...

This blog will be mostly about my life with Type 1 Diabetes, but I'll probably throw n a few updates that have no relation to diabetes :) I hope you all stick around for the ride!

I love to chat and meet new people, especially those with diabetes or other health issues. Chronic illnesses unite!!
