Church
You ever witness a congregation get caught up in the words of God through gospel music?
Itâs one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed from when I was a young kid
It never fails to leave me in awe.Â
Back at my old church, when the choir was especially on point, people would stand up and raise their hands to the ceiling with so much emotion on their face and I would just sit there in amazement and watch them.Â
It was amazing to see how the music touched and moved them
Reminded them of how their savior had redeemed them and saved them from some of the darkest moments of their lives
How, even now, no matter what it was that they were going through, they had someone to lean on and get them through the storm.
It was always in these moments
where I have ever really felt like I sensed His presence
It was always in the music
where I have truly understood and known without a doubt that He will be there for me if I ever chose to call on him.
From the very moment her voice hits my ears,
I am enchanted
and as she continues....
I am further enthralled by her words
âI can give you what you need....â
âI can make you feel...â
âI can make you feel alrightâ
drawing me in like a siren....
âcause isnât that what we all want?
To feel alright?
I give you âMake You Feelâ by Alina Baraz & Galimatias
ThruMyEars turned 1 today!
I'm in love
and it's not simply because she's from my home city
Her voice is something nice
song is kinda jazzy and soulful R&B
reminds me of some Jasmine Sullivan type stuff
smooth, but deep
takes you back to when the women were angry and heartbroken
hurt and emotional
but strong
If you get what I mean
Not sure that I executed my point clearly.Â
Just listen
and maybe then you might understand.
Here's Heartbeat by Vashti
I'm throwing it back this Saturday,Â
back to the man Kris K
No vibes or moods or feels and all that other stuff I'm on usually
Just something for you to enjoy,
Something to rock with
but of course by someone who I can actually consider a real rapper/artist
Enjoy :)
Good morning,
not having the best day
but here's a little something nice for you guys.
Enjoy :)
I'm just gonna leave this here....
enjoy :)
Here's another one
I just really appreciate originality
Enjoy guys
It's been awhile
I know
been way too distracted and unfocused.
But aaannyyyway,
By now you should know how I feel about today's mainstream music and "artists"
By now you should know I love those who do their own thing
you should know I love different.
I love real
Well here's something different
And I really mean different. So prepare yourself lol
It's Eating Me Alive by AEli
From his album The Void, which is definitely something elseÂ
Good music is timeless
It is not limited to one generation
or one type of people
it is respected by many
Here is âI Canât Go For That (No Can Do)â by Daryl Hall and John Oates
the same guys that brought us âSara Smile"
enjoy :)
I swear
without musicâŚ.
I donât even wanna know...
Just listen,
really listen...
Lately Iâve been stuck on old J. Cole
not that recent J. Cole isnât good
I love Born Sinner
Itâs just that, until my first year in college, when I made friends with someone who was pretty close to being obsessed with J. Cole and with another who, like myself, just liked good music
I didnât really know too much about J. Cole prior to his 'Work Out' single
Eventually I found myself downloading Friday Night Lights and The Warm Up and hearing his tunes as they popped up on my iPhone through shuffle.
I fell in love
His music is so real
He makes you fall into his narratives and get to know him and his personal thoughts and struggles
Heâs becomes human, relatable
A real person whoâs been through life like so many others
Hereâs 2Face by J. Cole on his Friday Night Lights Album
I've quoted him before and I will again;
"The function of music is to release us from the tyranny of conscious thought"
Wise words from Thomas BeechamâŚ
Sometimes it really sucks to be inside my head
to think all that I do
and not be able to escape from it
Music allows to run away from myself
Lmao why is this so compelling?
