As you can surmise, Rantasmo did a video on Brokeback Mountain. He does a web series called “Needs More Gay” were he talks about queer media and media made by queer artists as well as media that has a significant queer following. He makes a point here that queer romances are sometimes tragic in fiction because for some people being, both in the past and today, out is simply impossible. However, the world is changing and I don’t think straight couples should have a monopoly on happy endings in fiction.

You're really smart, especially in how if you don't like something, you explain why it's problematic instead of just being like, "No, this sucks and I hate it!" so that those who do like the things aren't scared off, rather can read your posts and realize the problematic implications, so even if they continue liking the things they can at least they'll be informed! You're a real help to the TGWTG fandom in particular by doing that, at least in my eyes!

Okay, so I wound up caving, and drew Demo Reel fanart, of Tacoma cheering Donnie up by singing Kermit’s part of this song, after he found Donnie lamenting Gonzo’s part! :)

Also, if I recall correctly Ana said she wanted fan-art of Donnie in a Christmas sweater, so here you are! :)

My head-canon is that Rebecca got the sweaters for them at a Disney store since she wanted an excuse to go to one, and after she gave them their sweaters, she made them take selfie-family christmas card photos! (Her sweater had Ms.Piggy on it!) :)

I don’t know, I thought it was cute and after seeing the most recent review with all the adorable Christmastime goodness, I caved and drew this. :)

Evan's Happy Ending

Evan desperately needs your help to pay for his needed medication to survive. Please give what you can and share this fundraiser. Thank you.

Evan is just 19 years old and has had a brutally challenging life. He needs your help to survive.

At just 10 years old his mother was told she might have cancer and she then turned to alcohol and became severely depressed and suicidal. Only Evan was there to look after her due to his father working away. He was never sure what state she’d be in when he returned from school - making him have to give up his childhood until he was 16. Then was when his mother died from Pancreatic Cancer, of which Evan’s dad blamed him for her death for “not taking care of her enough” and in the past three years Evan has been sexually abused and raped three times by his stepmother’s friends for money.

Due to this traumatic childhood, he now suffers from frequent psychosis and has been professionally diagnosed with ptsd, severe anxiety, severe personality disorder, personality disorder and manic depression. His family that he has left refuse to “waste” their money on Evan’s highly needed medication and so YOU are his only hope.

No he’s saying that if hypothetically there was no such thing as gender roles, then gender would no longer exist. If you’re a man that identified as a woman or a woman that identified as a man there would be no difference they would be the same thing because there would be no difference between them besides genitals. How can you identify as something that doesn’t exist? You might not do things that are traditionally female but you identify as female, so that makes you female. But if hypothetically there was no such thing as the female gender, how can you identify as such?

Gender roles and gender aren’t the same thing though. 

I don’t identify as a woman BECAUSE of traditionally feminine gender roles. AS I’ve explained, I DONT fulfill many of those roles. If gender was simply a checklist of “which of these roles do you fill” then we’d have a hell of a lot more non-binary people in the world. But gender and gender roles are not one and the same. 

Gender is a social construct, but it’s construction is not solely built around Eurocentric traditional patriarchal gender roles. Again, this is not complicated. Any basic psychology, sociology, or gender studies resource covers this.

Abolishing gender roles does not mean abolishing gender because they are not the same thing.

'Summer Wishes 2014' by Ravyn LaRue

I’ve decided for this summer I am going to shave and show my legs And smother on sunscreen and wear my rainbow sunglasses And I’ll go swimming lots (really honest-and-true this time) And I’ll get sunburned, likely But I’ll butter myself in Aloe Vera and it’ll all be fine I’ll write in notebooks outside while sitting in parks And I’ll walk down Grand avenue and perhaps stop inside a coffee-shop But only for a few moments, since I have bigger fish to fry And I’ll see if I can get some high-waisted swimsuit bottoms So I can wear my fat-kini and even if not, I can wear it with a skirt For PRIDE and/or slut walk And I’ll sit in the shade at Sidebridge as Darius does what he does And I’ll play on the Playground by Joe’s house while we confide And I’ll hopefully go to Valleyfair with Terese And I’ll drink passion-tea lemonade and eat ice-cream and frozen yogurt And I will do all I can to embrace this summer Since I’ve never longed for it more than during this school year So once it finally comes, I promise to revel in it
