This side-by-side was built by the Rockford Desk and Furniture Co., which only existed from 1891-1895. I've found one singular other example of this cabinet, which was auctioned over a decade ago, and was stained a dark cherry color. I personally like the color of the quartersawn oak as it is, so I'm not planning a full restoration.

Wait I just realized this puts her in line of sight with my favorite chifforobe and I love how they look together. Very different periods and styles (art noveau vs art deco) but I feel like there's a dialogue there.

Happy pride month but specifically to the Widow of Wounds and her Rootkeeper! This is a commission piece by the fantastic Stes @anthureums, who took my frenzied powerpoint presentation of vague references and ramblings and turned them into this achingly beautiful masterpiece. @thesiltverses remains one of my favorite audio dramas of all time, and the bond between Paige and Hayward has been living in my brain rent-free even years after the story has come to an end. I adore the way they depend on and inspire each other, and Stes captured that awful tenderness between them beautifully.

Some design notes under the read more:

Paige's outfit is inspired by mourning dresses, armor, and hazmat suits, as she is the Widow leading a rebel faith in what's basically TSV's Chernobyl site

Hayward's outfit is a blend of scavenging survivor and knight; you can see how his elements are matching with Paige (blows 3000 kisses to Stes for fleshing out these design details)

The flowers on the Wound Tree are based on crocus flowers BUT a bit more flesh colored, as they are ultimately feeding off of flesh and blood

The whale bones surrounding the two of them are a direct reference to season 2, chapter 12, where a whale gets caught in the emergence of the Wound Tree

whenever i look into a historical monarch who doesn’t get talked about much and is just kind of a blank spot in my understanding of the historical narrative, 95% of the time what i find is pure white hot blistering capability. a pencil pusher for the ages. a 39 year reign with no more than three hours of sleep a night. there aren’t any good stories from his reign because he systematically caught and stopped all catastrophic good stories before they could start. you shrimply must respect it

Rimbaud commenting on how skk reminds him of himself and Verlaine and Verlaine being like of course Chuuya would take after his beloved older brother! Only for Rimbaud to be like no you're Dazai in this analogy and Verlaine is so immensely offended he does not talk to Rimbaud for a week

the difference between dazai and chuuya's respective reactions to their friends betraying them is so funny. chuuya gets stabbed with a poison knife and walks it off, still protects the sheep as he can. dazai gets tricked by ango years ago and he is making ango pay for oda's death through car crashes til this day
