i watched the final two episodes

I literally dont know what to say. im still processing. like ,,, ok it was so good but so intense and sad
especially the stuff with max, i thought she was safe this season, then i thought for sure she was dead, and then suddenly shes not dead it was like total whiplash
Ive already seen some people say that it was cheap or a fakeout, and i can understand the sentiment, with the duffers track record, but i am so glad she didnt actually die
with her whole arc this season yknow basically being a metaphor for sui ideation, it wouldve been very bleak and not a good ending for her character. maybe im baised cause shes my favorite but even while i was watching i was in disbelif like so shattered when she died i just think it wouldfe been too dark
that being said shes not exactly in a good place right now. the comas one thing, i had heard rumors about that, but like physically,, she literslly broke like all her limbs and shes blind. we saw el trying to communicate with her, i think next season we will see more of that. im not sure if we will ever see her alive again, in the literal sense, just because her body seems uninhabitable at this point. but i just hope we can get a happy ending for her. And if she does get out of the coma, i do hope they dont just miraculously solve her injuries, because that would feel cheap.
overall i wasnt expecting such a dark turn for her, but im excited to see where it takes us and im glad her story didnt end there.
A quick side note, im also confused about the letters, i thought for sure at least lucas would read his, once max was in the coma. but, then again, her arc was about her learning to be open and she was open with lucas to some extent and with herself. so maybe the point is she didnt need the letters. or maybe it got cut for time idk lol.
overall i loved her arc. it got much darker then i thought it would, vecna really did a number on her, but im glad we got moments with her and lucas and el. i think there is hope for her.
i guess ill talk about eddie a bit too, his death was really sad and well done, and i liked his character alot.  though, i cant shake the feeling thst he was only added because they wanted the impact of killing Steve without actually killing him. Thatâs not to say they are the same character, they are different enough to both feel enjoyable and unique, but they really do share the same role. Especally with dustins reaction to eddies death, it was heartbreaking, but I canât help but feel it may of been a bit more impactful if it was Steve who died, since we have seen their bond grow over time. Eddie couldâve taken over his spot in the narrative.Â
Overall I think this season was insanely good, more so then I was expecting. The extra time they spent ironing things out really shows, and I think it made this season as good as it is. The only thing I really feel dragging it down is the duffers hesitance to kill off the already established characters, which makes some things feel a little cheap.Â
(I still stand by my previous point though, if they were going to kill max that would not of been the way to do it. Sure, it wouldâve been bold, but a very depressing end for her character, and her dying just doesnât work for the story they were telling this season.)Â
Alright, thatâs the end of my ramble. Iâm excited to rewatch and gather my thoughts more. Iâm still kind of in shock lol. But I hope everyone else had fun watching too and Iâm excited to see where the story goes.Â
