hakoda is a wee bit concerned for these children…
Scenes im not emotionally ready for in the live action atla remake:
- zuko betraying iroh for azula
- firelord sozin challenging his 13 year old son to an agni kai
- kataras mom protecting her from a fire nation soldier
- “I was never angry with you. I was just sad because I was afraid you had lost your way.”
- leaves from the vine
- appas lost days. That entire episode was so sad
- aang going to the southern air temple realizing that he really is the last airbender
- that scene where jet says he’ll be okay and toph says to sokka: “he’s lying.”
- the end of azula and zukos agni kai
- “I dont think the boomerangs coming back. I think this might be it.”
- azula seeing her mother in the mirror
- “she was my mother, too, but I think Aang might be right.” “then you didn’t love her the way I did.”

"𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓." His words were low, quiet and somewhat strained at the mere thought that he could've been healed. He STRUGGLED with it frequently, the memory of her fingertips upon his skin. The imagery of his face in immaculate condition, no flaws. No memories.
"𝑴𝒂𝒚𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰'𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚." Zuko added, tone quicker now as he began to realize this was too good to be true.
as a friend, there's so many questions she wants to ask. with tender heart, katara seeks to soothe and nurture. part of her wants to deny his fanciful ideas, to push away the negative thoughts he seems to hold so close, seems to fester over. but lying would be helping no one; eyes speak far more than words ever could and people always seem to stare at the burn. alas, the scar represents something much bigger than her - a childhood she could never imagine, supposed father turned power crazed tyrant, and so, she decides to be as delicate as possible - both with her words and how she stares at it.
as she's grown older, katara had learned to listen to the voice of the healer in her first. she takes a deep breathe, eyes observing the scar which dominates over the left side of his face, as though it was the first time she'd ever looked at it. a heavy heart keeps hands weighed down, instead letting azure hues do the inspecting. her stomach wrings and every muscle in her body tenses: how could a father ever do this to his own child? how often would zuko think about it? did it hurt - did it hurt all the time? how much did it hurt when she touched it? finally, she finds the confidence to speak, though even then, her voice is faint, ❛❛ ---- may i ? ❜❜

❛ It’s nothing. I just had a bad dream. ❛
❛❛ WHAT WAS IT THIS TIME ? ❜❜ the question is asked in a stern tone, with brows knit together and arms ready to pull him in. she’s less the image of a younger sister of more the imitation of a mother who had been stolen from them. funny that, how quickly they adapted to roles that they should not know for years to come; katara: the concerned maternal figure who, yet still hopeful and kind, grew wary and concerned for what remained of her people. and sokka: self-declared warrior, the proclaimed tribe caretaker who vowed to protect those left, the helpless. did they really live up to their fantasied illusions of themselves or were they just living their imaginations?
and suddenly, she shifts, almost as though it’s uncomfortable to admit but: ❛❛ i’ve been having them too . ❜❜ it’s no question what she’s talking about: black snow falling, the grumble of metal ship against ocean wave, a sudden burning. not long after having lost their dear mother, their father disappeared behind the horizon after her. there was no guarantee of when they would see them again, if they would see them again. far too often she would wake in a blind panic, wondering who next? who would the fire nation rob them of next? each visit left the southern water tribe more barren, once this once spirited people as deserted as the land the lived in ... was it some sort of joke? too long would she think about this, too long had she questioned everything that had happened to them, too long had she been left unanswered. then, quietly, childish cries, ❛❛ i miss them. i wish the fire nation never came. i just want them back ... i want them home . ❜❜

Platonic friendships can be passionate and intense. Caring deeply for a person doesn’t mean you have to have romantic feelings for them.
