Digital Media Projest 2- stop motion animation
Bubbleo Bill - conclusion
My lovely team and i worked well together. To start of with we got all the props made and bought the bubbleo bill ready to shoot no that first wednesday. We just took the photos from random angles and didnt use a stand which worked well for us. Leonie made some great sets for the rooms and Antoinetta brought the lollies and camera.
We managed to get all the photos done on that one day and discovered that shooting a stop motion animation with an icecream was fairly difficult. The icecream started melting and there was nothing we could do to stop that especially in a heated room. We also found that it wasnt very easy to stand the icecream up and decided to use our hands to guide him for the scenes where he walks around.
Putting it together and editing i found a bit hard but have got the hang of adobe premier a bit moe now and having a bit of knowledgeof photshop helped but Johanna is amazing and has done most of that so big thanks to her. Its been a good experiance and has been great wokring with a group of people for a project like this.
Synopsis for stop Motion Animation Project
For our stop motion animation we came up with the story line based on a bubbleo bill icecream. This is our form of Chewing Gum because of his bubblegum shnoz.
Leonie thought that a song by the Kinks "A Well Restected Man" would suit the story line. It sort of talks about the daily routine of a man living a bland life.
We are using cardboard to make a set; A bedoom, a dining room and an office. The other scene is when he's at the train station going to work.
Our idea is to repeat the scenes portraying his uneventful life.
For the bedroom scene which opens the video it will be shots of the bubbleo bill in bed with his wife. they are lying looking at the ceiling and he goes in to hug her but she rolls the other way and then he turns back over.
The next scene is in the kitchen and they both sit at the kitchen table and eat their breakfast (nerd lollies)
The third scene is him waiting at the train stop and the train come, he gets on it and it leaves.
The office scene is him at hisdesk in his office wuith paper work and o clock on the wall which chanes time as well as the scene outside the window going from day to dusk.
we will then repeat the train scene but going the opposite way.
Next he is in the kitchen having dinner by himself..is his wife having an affair?? He then goes to his bedroom and is a bit random. Lies on the couch..paces the room and stands on the table..
We then repaet some of these scenes.
We want to use the fading tool for each scene and have a black title page and then credits at the end with the song playing over the top.
Our props will consit of wooden furniture from Johanna's doll house. Bubbleo bill icecreams, lollies (hamburgers and pizza lollies) cardboard boxes for the rooms, some print outs of clocks and windows and picture for the wall and a camera which we will be using different angles to shoot from.
Basic rundown: Adobe Premier.
Non-linear video making.
Can have multiple layers of video, images, audio, filters etc.
Can save videos in multiple formats/resolutions.
Next week: software demonstration.
Consider differences between video file types. (avi, rar, mp4.. etc)
Size...
Our Digital Media storyboard for our Bubblo Bill stop motion :)
Loving our effect around the scenes :)
What to save as...
Don’t save it as a PremiereProject, beacause other people won’y always be able to open and view it! Instead go to: - File - Export - Media - MPEG4 - Save
Saving Your Animation File
Exporting your Premiere file as an .AVI or .MP4 file:
Select heading menu: File-Export-Media
Choose file type .MP4-(.AVI for youtube) select bottom preset and ensure all other ‘Match Sequence Settings’ options are ticked, then click export.
Consider uploading your final video to youtube, vimeo or smartphone.

To my class and Greg’s class- this gives you an indication of when the room we use for DMF (listed as “PC Room”) is available to use. As mentioned in class you can also access Photoshop and Premier on plenty of the computers at the main Adelaide TAFE Campus (across the road from us) you can use your same log in to use the computers there. Ask the library staff which computers have the Adobe CS suite on them. That library also has longer opening hours to ours: Monday - Thursday: 8.15 am - 9.00 pm Friday: 8.15 am - 5.00 pm Cheers! Josh
For our storytelling project we have chosen the subject of a life of Bubbalo Bill to the song of a “well respected man” by the KinKs. The song talks about a dire retine boring life.
How and Set up, During Monday or Wednesday,
We plan on meeting and taking photos on the Wednesday afternoon.
…
Yes
Class notes- Must remember to keep all files in one place so that Premier knows where to find them- transferring them once they’ve been used in premier means that premier won’t be able to shortcut to them.
After opening-
make sure it’s saving to the correct place
HDV 1080p25
Import your pictures from folder- it is possible to organise this in premier but might also be good to organise images before entering them into Premier.
2-3 frames/second
edit-preferences-general, 1 sec 10 frames
to change the timing of many frames at a time, select multiple frames and right click- brings up the option speed/duration. Select ripple edit, shifting trailing to ensure that frames squash together correctly.
Cross dissolve fades one image to the next, click, drag and drop effect the effect on to the frame you want it to change. Transitions are editable once dropped onto the frames, length of time that they run can be changed
If you want sound from a youtube video and not the video, import the MP4 file into premier, and then hide the video layer, keeping only the sound. Sound file can be cut and edited.
You can import a video and export frames from within it for use in stop motion video
to create title go to Title menu- new title (roll, still crawl) and where you can play with different types of text to create your title and credits.
youtubemp3 and Keepvid.com- designed for ripping videos off of youtube- copy and paste url into keepvid and download.
You da best gurl, shank you!
My final Gif wont upload properly..want to cry.
For my final Gif i use the text "this too shall pass" and while trying to work out how to incorporate an image or photo that relates to that i played around with ageing myself. I must admit this was slightly confronting but i found it too funny and it was almost a bit depressing after staring at it for awhile rather than the idea of appreciating life in the moment. anyway..this isnt my final Gif but its interesting to look at. Maybe.
