the 'what to do with students using ai’ debate is infuriating for many reasons but one thing that baffles me is also just that. if you’re so worried abt chat gpt writing essays just go with a different way of grading the class?? idk maybe it’s bc im not from us/canada/anglo saxon ridden sphere but essays are not really the default thing to finish semester off, obv they happen but a lot of professors prefer oral exams (easier and not as time consuming to grade) and no worries abt the evils of ai or whatever; like at this point a lot of teachers/professors are just creating their own problems it seems

exactly lmfao. the academy survived the monumental invention of the Internet and the subsequent consolidation of human knowledge - literally impossible to conceive of as recent as half a century ago - so I think it will probably survive AI. Pedagogies will adapt and change much like they did with the internet. The real issues with universities are pre-existing and have to do with domination and class stratification and etc etc
