thinking about tf!zam and the desire to turn human and like.... obviously the kneejerk reaction is to say no!!! shes perfect the way she is!!!! and that i hope she learns to love her own body... but at the same time. whats truly wrong with her succeeding? if you spent your whole life in a body you hated and were offered the chance to mold yourself in the image of those you love most and feel like you fit in for the first time in your entire life.. is that change such a bad thing? who is anyone to tell her that she wouldnt be happier if she was everything shes ever dreamed of.

Literally only two streams into The Lunar Phase and I am having sooo many thoughts about Lunar!Musi. She is awful, terrible and horrid and I love her with my whole heart. It seems like such a losing battle to have an ethics conversation with her because she does not understand what it means to do something for others without profit or gain, it is simply something she has never had to consider at either end of the transaction. (Though!! Josax and Puddle made some progress with her, that she just does not understand what they're getting out of it.)

I think it's also important to note that she also doesn't think anyone giving her things is doing so out of kindness but out of an obligation of who she is. It shows an extreme level of selfishness and entitlement, yes, but also that kindness just isn't a factor at all. "You're not giving this to me because it's kind, but because you should."

Her entire life is one big transaction, never has anything just been given to her because it was the kind thing to do, it was to get something in return or because she already earned it (whether she actually earned it or not is debatable, but the important bit is that she believes she did).

And just,, thinking really hard about how Lunar!Musi's transition was also described as "transactional", that even something that's supposed to be so deeply personal had the underlying need to be for someone else. She can't just transition to be herself she also has to sell herself, and she has to sell herself over and over and over again. She's had work done on herself and she doesn't know if it was for her or her fans. Whether her whole body is a performance or not.

Anyone responding to a creator's shipping boundary with a sudden influx of queerplatonic ships that are portrayed suspiciously just like amatonormative romantic relationships, put AO3 down for a second and listen to those of us in QPRs

Our relationship dynamics are not a substitute for romance and they're not inherently devoid of aspects a creator might be uncomfortable with being shown (like physical intimacy and flirting)

We can tell when a ship is written as queerplatonic in this soulless way where someone's trying to get around a creator boundary they don't actually have to follow* or around a character's aroacespec identity. They come across as conformative and allo-coded because queerplatonic as a term is used to mean 'a romantic dynamic where they aren't actually together or where there's no actual attraction'

*a creator boundary cannot and should not dictate what a community member does outside of their field of view, and it shouldn't encourage them to expand their field of view beyond what's reasonable in order to police their community - you are a person, you have free will! You can even block that creator in advance on your fan accounts!

Queerplatonic relationships are queer and so non-normative. They bend and defy the rules of what's typical and expected. They are broad and devoid of expectations unless you want to create them. They're things like touch or affection because you just want to know that person better; to learn how they'd react and to exist with them. They're things like telling each other things nobody else will know because you've committed yourselves to being there without the expectation for anything but the same in return. They're being able to place each building block that forms your dynamic and take it away on your own terms as a collective

They are not your get out of jail free card when it comes to creator boundaries - you already have that card and it's your human freedom!!

If you're going to write queerplatonic dynamics, actually write them that way instead of just labelling an amatonormative dynamic that way for the sake of it
