I am now in love with fish.
if anyone has a pet fish pls send me a photo!!
Pls! And your setup cause I want ideas for my Beta son Mattel

im planning to expand or get more tanks so all advice is welcome!!!
My betta Curly & his 10 gallon home 🥰🥰 named that way bc of his curled fins. His tank has river rocks, plants with fabric leaves, and a piece of driftwood that adds lots of tannins to the water along with capatta leaves. I used to have lots of tanks planted with real plants & sand but they’re a bit more maintenance than I have in me now lol

Really happy with this little aquarium stand. It’s a fairly new IKEA system called BROR. Cost next to nothing and rated to carry 95 kg per shelf. Also looks much better than your typical aluminium profiles. I’m using the largest shelves 85x55 cm.
There’s an app that has helped me so much with aquarium logging, I have to give it a shout out.
It’s called AquaticLog, and it’s a mobile app that keeps track of just about anything you’d want to in an aquarium.
You get at-a-glance information from your latest logged tests as soon as you open the app, which includes warnings if your parameters stray out of the range you set!
It keeps record of every test you log, and allows you to add notes on each test. It also graphs your tests so you can easily see how they change over time!
It also keeps track of water changes, livestock, dosing, feeding, what products you use, just about anything you could need. You can add multiple tanks, and it’s set up to cater to any aquarium type, not just reefs.
It was created and is maintained by Dmitri Tumanov, who recently decided to remove the subscription fee for a premium account. All the features are now free. He also has a YouTube channel, showing off his gorgeous reef tanks, as well as tutorials and product reviews.

A million years since I’ve posted but here’s some updates on my sitch:
•Guy passed
•I dismantled all 4 of the aquariums in my bedroom (2x 5.5g, 2x 10g)
•my dad finally redid the silicone seal on the 29g cube so now I’m putting all the stuff from my other aquariums into it
Friend of mine not realizing what they were getting into: I have goldfish in a bowl, and I know he probably needs better. Do you have any advice?
Me for the next 3 hour to an unsuspecting crowd:
mini m&ms are better than normal ones bc they cater to the very specific urge to eat colorful aquarium gravel
Usnavi 🌷🌸🎟🎆💞💘 she seriously loves having the 20 gallon to swim and zip around in!
A queen like her deserves that wonderful space
Usnavi got a water change tonight. 💦💚💞
So after 4+ years of keeping Shy Fish I Hardly Ever See Unless I Sit Still For 5 Minutes, I’ve added a small school of Fish That Are Definitely Not Shy.
I bought all that my LFS had, hoping more come in tomorrow. I’d like to have a dozen or more serpae tetras. My aquarium has never been this lively. And I really needed it changed up.
This probably will be the last update since the tank is running nicely. I like how everything has grown in and learned some things I should do differently next time like trying to add more flow in the front, getting some algae there. This is a 2ish months time progress.
After an oopsie with my hob filter that resulted in it ending up broken, I upgraded to an Eheim 350 pro 4+. I have wanted to upgrade to a canister but was putting it off till I had a little more money put away, with the hob breaking I decided to upgrade sooner than later.
Also since I haven’t updated in a while I finally got a bonsia tree for the tank, I’m still playing around with placement of the tree and the filter intake to where I want them aesthetically wise and functionality wise.
What’s wrong with bettas?
Annnd as promised, here’s that write-up on betta genetics and what’s wrong with all those pretty genes. We’ve got pictures and everything. This is a full, comprehensive list of the various problems with domestic betta traits. If you’re in the market for a new angry pal, then there’s a list of “good” things to look for in a betta at the end.
Just a quick intro before we begin: I’ve been into fishkeeping for over a decade, I currently have 16 running tanks ranging from 5 to 440 gallons, I’ve got about 200 fish at the moment, and I’ve had a good 20 to 25 bettas of my own over the years. When I was younger, I even bred a pair of pet store veiltails together, and reared some of the fry into adulthood. So, this is information coming from someone has both seen these things firsthand and talked with many, many other betta keepers who have done the same.
This is my new betta, Embezzlement. He looks great, right? He really does! But he’s also quickly going blind as a result of his thickened scales growing over his eyes, his fins will end up dragging him down to the point of immobility as he ages, and he’s at high-risk for developing visible tumors all over his body. I’ll get into that under the cut!
