someone commented on a royal icing video a week ago on tiktok asking if they could omit corn syrup and i responded back saying yes, you can make royal icing without corn syrup, it just wont be as shiny and the original video creator replied to me to go “NOT EXACTLY! 🤓☝️ it also improves the texture”
number one yeah i know adding corn syrup is going to make your icing stickier, no shit. most of the point of royal icing is that it basically dries into cement. you literally CAN make royal icing without corn syrup. i’m not giving someone a paragraph long answer with nuance in the comments in YOUR video. YOU fucking reply to them then? she replied to correct ME in .5 seconds

i think the unseen element of the great british bake off is just how much of it is a “who can pick up a new technique the fastest” competition. i just saw an episode where they were injecting liquid gelatin into set gelatin to make jelly art using specialized syringes and tools. home bakers are not buying and storing this set up. paul and prue make shit up and they’re like well you have a week, figure it out. lmfao

something about Toy Story toys is so strange to me. versions of animated characters based on real world toys, turned back into toys that are slightly different than the actual toys. slinky dog with a rubber spiral instead of a classic metal slinky. the porcelain bo peep and cloth woody turned into jointed plastic action figures. when toy story 4 came out and i saw a $30 talking action figure of forky, a character made out of a spork and a pipe cleaner, i stood in the walmart toy aisle staring at it like cameron from ferris bueller's day off staring at that painting in the art museum
