In a person’s life, many friendships are created. Yet just as often, the people you once held so closely to your heart, begin to drift away. And sometimes they drift into a person you cannot even recognize. With this, the memories you shared will vanish until the only proof that’s left of its existence are the small reminders of what used to be and the pain that lingers from the hardships, which inevitably led to its demise. You’ll be left with the wonder of whether or not it even truly existed. Or the astonishment that you shared so much of your time with the person you now do not even associate with the person you once knew. But I think the biggest revelation of all is not that people can be one person one day, and another the next. But more so that these inevitably doomed friendships are necessary for growth and self-discovery. There’s beauty in every ending. Sometimes it just takes a bit of time to realize it.

I’m reblogging my own post from 2011 because it’s still relevant. I’ve recently made more time in my life for growth and creation. I thought a good place to start would be going through my tumblr archive and laughing at all my text posts - but I’m actually seeing how much has changed. Oh how I wish I could go back in time and tell fetus Martina that everything will be okay in the end. Such is life. Since 2011, I’ve gained and lost many important people in my life. I stand by my words though - there is beauty in every ending, no matter how defeated and unhinged you may feel in the moment. If this resonates with you, keep holding on. You aren’t reading this by chance (I never use tumblr anymore). You were meant to read these words.
