hi anon!! i honestly have soo many thoughts on cg walsh but i cant articulate all of them and it drives me crazy!! :( i just posted some headcanons for her that you can find here
self indulgent & very personal because she is my mama! apologies in advance. boyre focus, but not exclusive I promise. some mentions of cursing if that upsets you (nothing explicit). padded regression mentioned at the bottom.
๐ฉบ ; boy mom emery! โ while not strictly a caregiver for masculine regressors, i think she would be better with them and have a soft-spot for them. I think as a kid she was more masculine also and so she definitely has a better understanding for masculine regressors. (I also think if she regresses, she would be boyre oriented but thats for another post).
๐ฉน ; inexperienced emery! โ she really is trying her best but I think she isn't that experienced with age regression and caregiving in general and that definitely sometimes shows.. her learning to be a better caregiver for her regressor because she cares soo much. researching and asking questions online. if you ask though, she will deny it.. very embarrassed at how inexperienced she is, especially when she sees other caregivers and their regressors.
๐ฉบ ; love language! โ I think emery struggles with reassurance and words, and so her main love language is acts of service and gifts.. giving her regressor whatever they want! buying them toys and outfits. leaving them notes around the house and in their lunch that she packs. lounging around with her regressor in silence, just watching them play - or if she's feeling up to it, playing with them!
๐ฉน ; cursing! โ she tries her hardest not to, really. but sometimes (a lot of times) she slips up and will curse in front of her regressor. even goes as far as making a swear jar (and letting her regressor decorate it), with all the money being spent on her regressor.. buying toys and gear for them with the money. sometimes even just spending extra because she feels really bad about it. being extremely embarassed and mortified if her regressor is big on mimicking her.. especially if she curses in front of others and her regressor mimics it.
๐ฉบ ; sickness! โ even though she knows she shouldn't be so nervous, she gets really upset and scared when her regressor gets sick or feels bad. shes a doctor, she can take care of her regressor! but theres always some sort of doubt in her mind.. her wrapping her regressor up in multiple blankets and making them soup. monitoring their fluid intake and temperature constantly.. shes really good with sickness even though she doesnt believe it. the biggest comfort for her regressor when theyre sick. cuddling with her regressor, not wanting to let them go. she cant stand her regressor being sick or feeling bad.
๐ฉน ; matching! โ emery definitely loves matching with her regressor, even if its something as simple as wearing matching bracelets. I think she also would let her regressor decorate or pick out stuff for her to wear. letting her regressor pick out stickers to put on her scrub top, or a stuffed animal for her bag.
๐ฉบ ; gear bag! โ (padded regression cw) emery carrying a regression gear bag wherever she goes, just in case. even going as far as keeping some gear in her locker at work, because theres always a chance her regressor will regress while emery is at work! keeping backup diapers everywhere because she has to be prepared for anything! no one being allowed to open the glovebox of her car because it only has backup regression gear for her regressor. pacifiers, bottles, sippy cups, etc. I like to think she also carries a stuffed animal around for her regressor-- again, just in case!
when trinity is regressed dennis usually becomes either โdennyโ or โdenโ, itโs always dennisโ first tell sheโs feeling small. all of her little tells are pretty subtle because she doesnโt baby talk much at all. another tell of hers is when she goes quiet for long periods โ before dennis she spent most of her time regressed just staring into space and trying to will herself into not be regressed so he has to keep an eye out for that as well.
eventually catching on to when trin is small becomes second nature but at the beginning there are a lot of times when dennis will be squinting at trinity trying to decipher what headspace sheโs in only to be flipped off and probably have a throw pillow chucked in his face.
dennis never got to be an older sibling which is not an experience he thought he was missing until he got to know little trinity. when sheโs fully comfortable sheโs clingy in a way dennis wouldnโt have expected, like sit-outside-the-bathroom-while-he-pees clingy, but it doesnโt bother him too much. sheโll follow him around the apartment while heโs tidying up, trailing after him with her blanket wrapped around her like a cape, and if he sits down to do something sheโll want to do it too. dennis has perfected the art of making the youngest feel included enough to actually get anything done using methods such as: letting trinity draw if he had to study, giving her a powered off controller if he wants to play a video game, and letting her be the designated stir-er when heโs trying to make dinner.
trinity knows on some level that sheโs just being included โ especially because she doesnโt regress to a specific age so much as she just becomes kind of floaty and juvenile โ but dennis is soooo forthcoming with praise and affection and it kinda turns trinity to goo. heโll offer to put trinityโs drawings on the fridge and even though she insists thatโs dumb sheโs secretly very, very pleased, he always thanks her for helping with dinner even if she didnโt do very much at all, and even though sheโs pretty sure the switch controller he handed her hasnโt been charged in weeks he says sheโs doing great even when sheโs just mashing buttons and gnawing on the end of her blanket with her eyes glued to dennisโ game.
dennis does so much research on age regression itโs not even funny. and because of this, one of the first things he tries to do when he unofficially becomes trins caregiver is get this girl to play for fucks sake. because her regression is so tied to her trauma itโs not something sheโs ever really enjoyed and dennis thinks thatโs a shame!
the first thing he introduces is coloring. he realizes trinity would be averse to anything she had to navigate in her own so he started with something simple he could do with her. one day while sheโs small and doing her usual โ curled on the couch with her blanket and her kitty cat โ he convinces her to join him at the table with a few coloring pages and a 24 pack of crayons. sheโs hesitant at first and approaches the whole thing with far more caution than crayola really warranted but dennis let her warm up to the whole ordeal by getting started on his own sheet.
heโd ask trinity what colors he should use, posing questions like: โyou think the grass should be orange or purpleโ just to see trinityโs exasperated reaction because โduhhh the grass should be green, den, obviouslyโ. heโd ask her a bunch of similar silly questions until sheโs laughing and relaxed and then he can finally encourage her to color herself โsince you seem to know so much about it.โ
when trinity is small her best friend is a cat plush she saved from the clearance section. itโs multicolored and soft and floppy where stuffing has migrated from years of being held and cuddled. sheโs had to stitch it up a few times which was upsetting but now that dennis is here he does all that stuff for her. one day she realizes cat has a small rip near the base of his tail and goes teary eyed almost immediately but now sheโs not alone and her first instinct is so shove her cat in dennisโ face while whining because dennis basically knows everything.
dennis would be a little flustered at first, especially because this is one if the first time trinity had actually come to him while regressed and upset instead of hiding, but once he understands he handles the situation with the utmost care it deserves. he treats it like playing doctor and tells trinity to have a seat in the โwaiting roomโ their couch and hold on tight to her blanket while her cat is in surgery. tiny trin deeply appreciates dennis performing a surgery on his day off. after dennis has sewn her up good and tight he offers her back to trinity after wrapping a star patterned bandaid around her tail and offering one to trinity as well.
when trinity is small her favorite activity outside of drawing and crafts is make believe. she has a small assortment of toys but for the most part she just totes around her blanket and cat and imagines elaborate storylines that are constantly changing. one minute sheโs an astronaut in the first spaceship piloted by a stuffed cat and the next minute sheโs a pirate making dennis walk an imaginary plank. dennis is โฆ decent enough at make believe but heโs definitely no match for trinity and eventually learns to stop questioning when they go from a tea party with all her stuffies to military coup sheโs been organizing against him and her action figures who he was apparently the ruler of the whole time.
one of the side effects of being trinityโs caregiver is that dennis finds himself humming the theme songs to kids shows and movies all the time. he has yet to live down being caught charting while singing golden under his breath because trinity wanted to watch kpop demon hunters for the 50th time.
