(Mostly) Reminder for My Future Self

wherever you might be,

I hope you find new ways to love your spouse better,

every single day of your life.

may you and your spouse be so focused on how to treat each other well,

that you have no time for those distractions and temptations out there,

until you meet again in Jannah.

bayangkan

bayangkan sebuah pernikahan

yang masing-masingnya tidak perlu khawatir yang lainnya tidak setia. karena kuat agamanya, kokoh komitmennya.

bayangkan sebuah pernikahan

yang jarak separuh bumi pun tidak akan membuat jauh apalagi terpisah. karena rindunya diwujudkan dalam bentuk menjaga. karena hatinya sudah selalu bisa ditata.

bayangkan sebuah pernikahan

yang keduanya tidak perlu khawatir akan hari yang belum datang. karena kesadaran bahwa semuanya adalah titipan. karena keyakinan bahwa rezeki selalu tepat takaran. karena keimanan bahwa bersama kesulitan ada kemudahan.

bayangkan sebuah pernikahan

yang pasangannya tidak perlu khawatir menjadi tua, diuji kesehatannya, menjadi lupa, atau tidak lagi elok rupa. karena cintanya jauh lebih dalam dari yang terlihat, jauh lebih besar dari yang memikat.

bayangkan sebuah pernikahan

yang orang-orangnya hanya khawatir akan perpisahan. khawatir bilamana kehidupan yang selanjutnya tidak mempertemukan mereka. khawatir bilamana bekal mereka belum cukup. sehingga mereka pun berupaya bersama, mencukupkan semua perbekalan.

pernikahan itu bisa saja adalah pernikahan kita.

وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِينَ

and He will soothe the hearts of those who believe. {Quran 9:14}

short moments of happiness, long moments of grief - that is the dunyah.

may Allāh turn our tears and sorrow into joy and laughter on the Day of Judgement.

kelak saat kamu mati,

kamu akan menyesal dan memohon pada Allah untuk dihidupkan sekali lagi

hanya untuk punya kesempatan bersedekah.

tegakah kamu menyia-nyiakan umur yang masih Allah berikan untukmu dengan TIDAK bersedekah?

'Ali ibn al-Madini said: I asked 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak about Allah's statement:

[فَمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا ]

"So whoever looks forward to meeting his Lord, then let Him do righteous good deeds." [al-Kahf 110]

and 'Abdullah said: Whoever wants to look at the Face of his Creator, then let him do righteous good deeds and not tell them to anyone.

Beware of considering the answer of your duʿāʾ as slow,

Saying: “I supplicated and supplicated and I was not responded to.”

For verily, al-Shayṭān casts this in your heart and says: “How much have you supplicated to Allah and what you have sought has not come.”

Then he drives you to despair the mercy of Allah and this is from al-kabāʿir al-ḏunūb (ie: the major sins).

Do not despair from the mercy of Allah even if the response to your duʿāʾ is delayed.

Our Prophet ﷺ used to say, “let them have the Dunya, Akhirah will be ours.”

اعمل باستمرار من أجل حياتك الآخرة و لا تقلق بشأن إثارة إعجاب الناس.

Continuously work for your Akhirah and worry less about impressing people.

I hope you remember we are here to build our Akhirah. so don’t get attach to this place.

May Allāh ﷻ make you and your parents among those who will stand next to the Prophet ﷺ on yaumul qiyamah.

Almighty. In a world that’s growing more uncertain, grant us firm faith & complete trust in You. We know You’ll protect us, come what may. Guard us from temptation & those who’d try to make us compromise our convictions. Let us not attach our hearts to this temporary world.

I pray that Allah (SWT) lifts you to the position you so dearly desire. May Allah heal your heart, erase your secret fears. May Allah answer your secret prayers. I pray, your tears will dry, your situation will change, your suffering will end, And may Allah refill your life with happiness and heart with peace. 🌹

hurt, shattered and broken. yet hope still fluttered because of a single promise -

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا.

verily, with every difficulty, there's relief.

all pain in life is removed by a verse:

ۖ وَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تَكْرَهُوا۟ شَيْـًۭٔا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰٓ أَن تُحِبُّوا۟ شَيْـًۭٔا وَهُوَ شَرٌّۭ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ.

perhaps you dislike something which is good for you and like something which is bad for you. Allāh knows and you do not know.

a little piece of advice for those who are newbies in the marriage world:

it's going to be a long long ride (or at least that's what we plan to do), so choose your partner carefully.

when you've decided he/she's the one you'll live with, then you've decided to live with his/her both good side and bad side, inside and out, anger and cheerfulness, tears and smiles.

you won't be able to change people. even if you can, it will take a lot of time and effort. so most of the time you will have to learn to accept and live with what you don't like. be patient. keep praying. keep believing. what Allah Wills will be. insha Allah.

when you feel anger towards your spouse, always remember their good deeds. remember how he/she is good to your parents. how he/she pats your head and hugs you when you're down. how he/she prepare a glass of water for you when you're sick. how he/she smiles at you when you're home. how he/she charge your phone when it's on low battery. even how he/she looks when he/she sleeps soundly, or how he/she snoring loudly in the middle of the night.

remember anything good in them that can appease your anger. there's always a good side to every bad side. no one is a hundred percent pure without flaws. your partner is not a prophet nor a wife of a prophet. we're all not ma'sum from sins.

hope we're all given a happy marriage, in the dunya until we meet again with our spouse in jannah. aamiin allahumma aamiin.
