Wrapped up the painting on this over the Xmas holiday. Going to probably work on the base on upcoming streams!
Recent project completion - four more minis from the Arcadia Quest board game set! Did two more after that but don’t have good pics yet.
Rebel Airspeeder, from Star Wars: Legion. Completed in approx 4-5 hours of work (over three nights of streaming at https://www.twitch.tv/jason_ell ). I’m not planning to play the game, so this is either a display piece, a for-sale piece, or a subscriber giveaway on my stream at some point.
Been a bit of time since I finished the body, thanks to E.coli, long work nights, and motivational struggles, but the weapon arms are finally finished! Wrapped them up on stream tonight - and yes, that IS a working Bluetooth speaker on top. Hopefully it can bring some noise to a tabletop soon! Join me for my next project starting on Sunday night at 9PM ET at http://twitch.tv/jason_ell !
Oh, yeah, I finished the body on this last week. Beginning the weapons tonight, at 8PM Central. Join me at https://www.twitch.tv/jason_ell !
Finished commission from last year - the complete pieces for the boardgame Scythe (plus first expansion).
Finished these some time ago - the starship pieces for Star Wars: Rebellion. The rebel troopers and stormtroopers are still in my queue. This is a personal copy, not a commission.
Finished this squadron of Vypers the night before the Saturday tournament. Built from the big Harlequin box. The turret weapons are magnetized (though the gunners are not). I might consider doing a bit more weathering on them in the future - something I am thinking about doing to all of my Eldar “ground” vehicles.
Yesterday was my first time playing in a Warhammer 40K tournament in at least two years, maybe longer. They were my second, third, and fourth games of the 8th Edition. It was hosted at Chicagoland Games: The Dice Dojo, and organized by a couple of local players. Overall the day was a good one, with pretty good people and great tables.
Gameplay-wise, I won two of my three games: 16-15 vs. Necrons, 11-17 vs. Orks, and 19-14 vs. Space Marines (Raven Guard flavor, Index version). Takeaways from the day: Shuriken Cannons are legit, Crimson Hunters are pretty damn awesome (I hadn't used them yet in this edition and hadn't gotten to experience the power of multi-damage weapons), it's nice not having to stress over turn 1 quite as much since it's really difficult to blow up Wave Serpents. However, as awesome as having 22 Shuriken Cannons is, they still can't quite chew through 90+ Orks.
In even better news, I was voted Best Painted! That was a fantastic outcome that I was hoping for (and is usually my goal with any given tournament) but it was still a very good feeling to have my work validated some. I also got asked multiple times about commissions, so that will hopefully be something I'll start doing.
A picture of the army I fielded is below. -Farseer, Bike, Spear -Warlock, Bike, Spear -5 Dire Avengers -5 Dire Avengers -5 Rangers -8 Fire Dragons -5 Jetbikes (Shur. Cannons) -5 Jetbikes (Shur. Cannons) -3 Vypers (2x Shur. Cannons) -2 Crimson Hunters -2 Wave Serpents (3 Shur Cannons, Spirit Stones, Vectored Engines)
Finished the #arcadiaquest orcs and goblins tonight on stream! I’m really happy with how they came out. The figures were mostly a dream to paint, with minimal issues, and details that made it easy to paint. Looking forward to maybe doing some of the heroes in the next batch. Also, a sneak peek at the next project I’m working on for my Eldar. Join me on Tuesday night to watch more! On Twitch at https://www.twitch.tv/jason_ell
Current state of the orcs/goblins from Arcadia Quest. Faces are pretty much done, I think. Next stream I should be able to finish them, or get close - need to do the hair, clothing, and weapons. And the bases, though I'm not sure if I'll do any texture or just paint them black. Join me this Sunday night at 8PM CT at https://www.twitch.tv/jason_ell !
Top of the hour coming up, and tonight we're gonna work on painting the part of these Arcadia Quest greenskins that aren't green! Okay, I might still do a bit of work on the skin (picked up some green wash, we'll see how it works). But I'll also get to work on the rest of the minis' parts.
Join me at 8PM Central time, at https://www.twitch.tv/jason_ell !
The squad completed and together.
So it turns out if you just leave the top of the lightbox off, you can do a pretty good imitation. Mini complete! It’s ready to join its squadmates (which I’ll post in a moment).
Final Assembly in progress - currently test fitting the bottom while the top part is curing. Almost done! Once the green stuff holding the jet to the curved tube cures, I'll paint the tube, and then glue it into place. At that point, the job will be finished!
The water didn't really come out how I drew it up, but it still looks really cool, it just won't match the other two. Also I think the model is significantly higher than the other two, but that fits as well since it's the squad leader. It'll look well centered between them.
Decided to do a bit of streaming tonight since I had some free time and some motivation. I got the painting finished on the base! Now I just need to get the water setup done. We'll see if that's something I can be ready to do on stream tomorrow night. Join me then at https://www.twitch.tv/jason_ell!
