// YESSS Delicious in Dungeon is coming back in July!
Haku was caught with open-mouthed silence. Something glistened in his eyes from the flicker of the fire, warbling with a sudden surge of emotion. His fists balled with emotion as Haku struggled to find the words to convey his deep gratitude. It was not even a small kindness easily given. It was a hunt! A full alligator! It would have been cruel, yes, but to fathom that a sentient being that he had known for so little was willing to expend so much on his behalf. Suraya had not even met Zabuza. Speaking of... Suddenly, Haku's eyes snapped up, the chill of the air betraying what chakra was hidden in the roll of incoming mist. Immediately, he understood his guardian's intentions, no part of a snap judgement lending kindly to what one would reasonably judge a massive spinosaurous as a threat. "W-Wait!" He cried out as a figure burst from the swampy glades, blade loathsome and mid-swing to decapitate the beast that had gotten too close and, from the gore of its lips, had found quarry. Pure and utter fury, however, was made hesitant when Haku's voice proved a critical piece of information that did not align with what Zabuza had assumed to be the worst. Desperate hands pushed at Suraya's leg as though someone his size could move her at all. "Suraya!"
As focused as she was on the reptile and the boy, Suraya noticed the chilled air about the same time Haku's eyes fixed on a then-unknown factor. If she hadn't caught the man's scent already around the camp, she might have reacted more aggressively to the blade wielding shinobi who leaped out of the darkness beyond the firelight.
Given the state of her— a bloodied beast too close to the younger human— she couldn't blame him for his reaction.
The blow would have been a killing one had she not moved with Haku's pushing. She ducked and her jaws snapped, teeth closing on the executioner's blade with a grating of metal. She was surprised to have to take another step back from the force, but she made no move to wrench the blade away from the man. She only held it in place, keeping it from moving again until Haku could explain things.
“I assume this is your companion?” She asked Haku, mumbling around the sword.
// ngl as comfy as Campfire Cooking in Another World is, Delicious in Dungeon is overall more interesting to me, and the recipes are more fun even if they can't quite be recreated irl. Everyone fawning nonstop over the main character's cooking starts to get a bit repetitive after so many episodes, no matter how good it looks :'))))
// ... for anyone who's seen Campfire Cooking In Another World, Suraya kinda gives Fel energy... only less egotistical iyf8yf

Things were… uncomfortable, to say the least. The stone under her was darkened with blood, and her hide was marred with gashes— new scars in the making, to be sure. Limb-thick roots bound her where she lay, tangled around her body and keeping her on the ground. The only sign that she was still alive was the slow rise and fall of her sides.
It was the slow tremors through the ground, a rumble of approaching footsteps, that caused her to stir. One green eye opened just enough to see the rex standing over her; she sighed and it slipped closed again.
“Hey… don't worry about me. I'm just resting for a moment,” came the quiet rasp of a greeting, trying to make light of her rather dire situation.
With bright-eyed fascination, Haku observed as Suraya tore clean into the carcass, the blood and gore not even eliciting the smallest discomfort. Though young, Haku had killed more than he could count, which admittedly was not all too high considering his lack of formal education. Sadness and appreciation were compartmentalized and viewed in their respective corners one unable to overpower the other. "Hnnh.. We'll be careful.." But Haku did become quiet over another matter, a thought that entered his head as the thick backstrip of meat was exposed making his mouth water. And for what little appetite he had, Haku could only imagine what a delicacy this would be, even a portion, for Zabuza. "Does.. um. Something like this fill you up?" He broached the topic as round as he could, even if he suspected that someone as large and mighty as Suraya needed quite the calories to maintain her body. But he was willing to embarrass himself if it meant possibly obtaining a small piece. "We're.. happy to eat whatever scraps you don't want. If.. um. If that would be okay, that is..."
The lack of reaction to the blood didn't strike Suraya as concerning. Shinobi of all kinds were more or less used to the sight of such things, weren't they? She nodded at the assurance that the two would mind their surroundings; she didn't doubt they'd do so without her warning, but it never hurt.
“Something this size or a little bigger would do for a meal, if I ate most of the available meat,” she said, setting aside another strip of flesh and scutes.
But at the hesitant request for her scraps, Suraya stopped and looked down at him, gore still dripping from her jaws.
“What do you mean? This is for the both of you. I wouldn’t be so cruel as to bring a whole carcass back to your camp and relegate you to eating whatever I leave behind,” she said. “I’ll be eating whatever you don’t. (I’m just trying to deal with the hide and scales for you first.)”

Oh? Oh these were HER kind of bite-sized! One could almost imagine a smile splitting her features as she snapped up one of the nigiri. It was an admirable effort on their part! But the rice was quickly falling apart mid-bite, and with no cheeks to hold it in, she admittedly ended up with half the rice in the dirt. The fish was successfully eaten, though!
She squinted at the remaining two pieces. She WOULD manage to eat the rest without incident, mark her words!

Suraya crouched, sinking into a loaf to better peer at this colorful gift of food. She'd seen things like these in the occasional shop window, but never had the opportunity to try them. She'd take the chance while she had it!~
A long tongue extended to swipe up the fruity treats, and she gave a testing chomp of her jaws as she took in the tastes. Whatever sweetness was in the cream was unfortunately lost to her sense of taste, but the pops of semi-tart fruity flavor-- strawberry, kiwi, orange-- stood out brilliantly! All in all a satisfying little snack, and she clicked her teeth and nodded.
"Thank you for this, they were quite delightful!" she nodded. "What other things do you sell?"

She's crouched just within the mouth of a cave, watching the icy rain continue to pour. She was currently drip-drying and feeling rather cold herself. She was capable of starting a fire, but any fuel she might grab was currently soaked and useless.
It seemed she'd have to remain cold until the rain stopped and the sun came out (which she wasn't thrilled about).
✦ The Last Unicorn ? ? ?
✦ I forgot about this drawing cause it didn't turn out how I wanted. But here it is anyway :b The whole thing about people comparing Spinosaurus mirabilis to a unicorn inspired this piece.
