[image description: stock photo on a light grey marbled background of three pendant spinner necklaces. The spinners are a mini metal shipâs wheel design with six spokes with solid cylinder-shaped ends attached to the spokes. A red, light blue and dark blue indented stripe runs round each end, and a round cap in the centre featuring a stylised black tree with nude branches and visible roots against a green and blue background. From left to right, the colours are: gunmetal grey on a braided black cord; silver on a braided silver cord; and gold on a braided gold cord.]

HRT Day #192 11/08/2017
I love make up. The transformation, trying different techniques, etc. But for the longest time I have not allowed myself to wear it because I felt that no matter how skilled I became, or if I had the best products, It would never change my rugged masculine face or hide my stubble.
Well today was a milestone for me. She decided to paint the ole mug and⊠I do not think I have ever felt this pretty. I didnât even shave, yet I find myself loving what I did and a drive to get better at it. Perhaps soon Iâll be comfortable enough to venture out in a full beat.
Here is to loving myself inside and out and loving the journey towards my full potential. â€ïž

HRT Day #194 11/10/2017
There is this foggy confusion surrounding my body that I havenât really taken the time to clear or articulate about my non-binary trans existence. Iâm not sharing because I wanât to put cis minds and binary lives at ease, but because I am not the only one. I am not the only gender non-conforming person who has walked the line of do or donât when it comes to HRT. So I share this for them. Trans & non-binary are very much the same when you begin to understand gender identity as a broad spectrum of identities all of which vary in intensity. Most people think being trans means going from one binary gender to the other. But this is not always the case. Take myself for example, a gender fluid MtF demisexual. Speaking in terms of a binary consciousness, my hormone replacement therapy is NOT about becoming a woman because I never recognized myself as a man. HRT for me, is about aligning my body, mind & spirit with my expression. To fully grasp what I am talking about you need to understand what it means to be non-binary. If you still understand gender within binary confines, there is no room for you to process my existence because it is beyond those rigid lines. My biggest hurdle with HRT was being concerned that other people would begin loosing touch with my non-binary existence. I did not want to be swept up amongst the common understanding of âtransgenderâ because often times if you are on HRT, people just assume that youâre transitioning from one binary gender to the other and Iâm not. Thatâs not why I chose HRT for my life. Now, 7 months into MtF hormone replacement therapy this is what I have learned⊠YOU CAN NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE WILL ASSUME OF YOU BASED ON THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF GENDER AND EXPRESSION. You have one life. Just one, and at some point, you have to stop occupying space in your mind with âwhat ifâsâ and begin inputting self love. Begin making decisions based on how YOU feel and what YOU know to be true of yourself. Xoxo -Elliott Alexzander

What can intersex look like? âMy intersex variation is gonadal dysgenesis. I found out at age 15 when I still hadnât gotten a period. I have XY chromosomes and I have to take estrogen to help my bone health because I was born without ovaries.â âMy intersex variation is congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). I found out at birth. CAH is one of few intersex variations with additional medical considerations, because it affects the bodyâs ability to produce stress hormones. I take testosterone and I identify as transgender.â âMy intersex variation is complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS). That means my body developed in a way that is "tipicallyâ female, but I was born with XY chromosomes and internal testes instead of ovaries. My body is insensitive to testosterone, so it converts it to estrogen instead.â "My intersex variation is parcial androgen insensitivity syndrome (PAIS). That means I only partially responded to testosterone in the womb. (Because of this, people with PAIS may havve an ambiguous sex at birth.) My parents found out I have PAIS when I was born. I have XY chromosomes and I identify as transgender.â Doctors often encourage surgical removal for female-identified intersex people who have internal testes. However, this is NOT medically necessary and has more to do with societyâs views on sex and gender. Removing hormone producing organs makes a person reliant on the medical industry for external hormones! Similar to other LGBT groups, intersex people struggle for bodily autonomy. We may have to fight against surgeries we donât want.

More Than Ten Years on Testosterone - Is It Safe??
Have you ever worried about the possible long-term effects of being on Testosterone?
Well, you can relax because science has your back.
Italian researchers concluded in 2014 that âTestosterone administration in FtM subjects has a good safety profileâ after finding âno significant serious adverse effects and no clinically relevant changesâ in 45 FTM patients treated for at least 10 years with T.
Also notable: âLiver and kidney function tests did not show any significant changes.â
The aim of the study was to assess the effects and safety of Testosterone administration on body weight, lipid profile, hematological and bone parameters in trans men.
