has anyone noticed that after the porn ban of 2018 tumblr was essentially killed from the mainstream and everyone flocked to other social media sites like twitter and meta. then those sites got enshittified to where twitter became Nazi Central and meta sites had an entire meme around getting “zucced” aka mark zuckerberg himself would ban you for saying a no-no word like fuck. and then the mainstream shifted to tiktok where infamous toddlerspeak sentences like “he got unalived by a pew pew” were born because if you once again say a no-no word like kill or gun or any other word that isn’t corporate i mean kid friendly then the algorithm will bury your post into the ground. and somehow we’ve come full circle and tumblr is now the most bearable social media site because although we can’t have female presenting nipples we can at least talk to each other like adults. has anyone noticed that at all or is it just me and the flaming skull

If you live in the US and are feeling beat down by everything that's been happening lately, especially these past two weeks (yes, it's only been two weeks), and you are wanting to stand up and fight for all of our rights, there is a country-wide protest that is planned for this Wednesday, Feb. 5 at each state's capitol building (times appear to vary from state-to-state but largely seem to start around 11 am or noon).

Even if you don't think you'll be able to go and protest (it is short notice and scheduled for a weekday), think about boosting this information as much as you can, that way word can get to as many people as possible and more people can show up in person.

If you do plan on attending your state's protest, especially if you live in a red state, be safe, take as many precautions as you need to, be aware of your rights, prepare for resistance (just in case), and remain as peaceful and nonviolent as possible.

This map is made and maintained by transgender journalist Erin Reed. She read all 550 bills targeting trans people in America in 2023 and 586 so far in 2024 and she scores state safety based on proposed and enacted legislation. She regularly updates the map (including explanations of recent legislative changes) on her site. She has a separate map for trans youth (which: warning, is even more scary), since a lot of policies target minors specifically.

It’s depressing as all hell, but Erin does great work and I’ve been using her maps to plan my career and vacations for years. It’s helped me figure out where to apply for grad school, and helps me keep track of what states I cannot do a layover in while flying because of bathroom bills.

the second screenshot is looking up the same exact thing, but with a (australian) vpn on. canadian vpn didn't fix it fyi.
