Koi bettas are some of the prettiest bettas out there, don't you agree? I have eight of them. 😁 New sig btw! More like a stamp, really. I like it I'll be signing all of my art with it from now on.

Here's a painting I did of Shezmu, my most prized betta. He's a red dragon hmpk with (in my opinion) just such beautiful fin shape and scales. I purchased him from Betta Squad USA several months ago and highly recommend that seller.

Felt like touching up this seahorse I painted last year and adding some clouds to it. Clouds are one of my favorite things to paint. :)

I've looked at SO many reference photos on the internet in an effort to understand shrimp anatomy, and in general they've all been too unclear in one way or another. It occurred to me the other day that I could make my own reference images, so I bought some frozen whole shrimp from my local Vietnamese grocery store and that's what I spent the day doing.

It was kinda icky but all-in-all a cool experience and I FINALLY feel like I understand most/all of the tiny components that make up a shrimp's face. (for this particular type of shrimp, anyway)

I'm so happy about this. My girlfriend BriGriv (@grivich) surprised me one day by painting over one of my old sketches in Sai, and from there we tag-teamed the piece until we arrived at what you see here! I'm so excited to see what else she and I will make together. :)
