Listen, I understand the purpose of ads. Your website/game/whatever costs money to operate. I'm using it for free so I have to look at a few ads. Fine. Your restaurant has a new item, and you want to get the word out. Fine. Whatever.
But do we have to play these games? Do you really need to do the tiny X button and the "skip ad in 5 seconds" and the pop-ups and the fucking Temu ads that last like a minute and automatically bring you to their site even when you don't touch the screen and the mobile game ads that try to trick you into thinking they're finished and do we really need the commercials to be twice as loud as the show and do we really need billboards that are TV screens and does every corporation need to play mind games with us, like I'm going to buy their phone because they believe in the importance of family?
It's not the ads that I hate, it's the ad culture. If it was just a banner ad or two. If it was just a 15 second ad that introduced the product and then left me alone. If it was just a poster on a wall. Maybe I wouldn't mind so much. But instead, I feel like every single company is stretching me out like a rubber band to see how much I can stand before I snap.
