New Blog posts up!! Check them out?
I caved! I finally bought into the BirchBox idea. Granted, I got to pick my own products when I went to Selfridges in Manchester, but still, I bought one! And it was actually quite fun being able to wander round with my cute little box, test all the luxury products they had to choose from and then selecting my final 6!
There were 4 options in each category and I chose…
Benefit They’re Real Tinted Lash Primer
Wild About Beauty Lip Pencil Duo
Nude ProGenius Omega Treatment Oil
Rituals Honey Touch Body Cream
Parlor by Jeff Chastian Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray
This Works Sleep Plus Pillow Spray
The only section I struggled with was the ‘Beauty Bonus’. There was a choice of 2 pillow sprays, a toothpaste and a key ring! The rest of the options certainly made up for it though!
So, my first make-up pick was the Benefit Lash Primer.
What: This mink-coloured formula makes all the difference for supercharged lashes.
How: Layer your fave mascara on top for defined drama.
Result: Love love love it. My lashes looked great with just the primer on but when I put my Dior Extase mascara on top: wow! Not seen my lashes so big in a while. I think I may have to buy this!
Natural
Just Primer
With Dior!
Second make-up pick was the lip pencil duo. I chose 01 Fiona just because I thought the colour would suit me a bit better but 03 Mia was also rather pretty. This one was a full size product which, of course, I’m pleased about.
What: Create a perfectly defined pout – it defines, conditions and colours.
How: Trace the edge of your lips with the liner and fill in with the creamy lipstick.
Result: WOW! This is so so pretty. The liner was so easy to put on and the lipstick feels so nice! The colour is just lovely and it stayed on for ages before I had to reapply. I need this in my life forever!
On to the skincare. With my slightly dry skin at the moment, this was the perfect choice.
What: This oil is rich in Omega and plant oils to hydrate and smooth skin.
How: Apply 2-3 drops after cleansing twice a day.
Result: I’ve been using it twice a day for the last week and it really is making a huge impact! My skin is so soft and it really is glowing, BUT, the full size product is £58 so I’m not sure if I’ll be investing. I’ll see how I feel after this one is all gone. I would totally recommend it though just for how amazing my skin feels!
The body care choice was an easy choice, I just love the smell of honey and the packaging was pretty!
What: Nurture your skin with this decadent lotion infused with Honey and Indian Rose.
How: Smooth all over your body, paying attention to rough patches.
Result: One use on my gross elbows and they were nearly perfectly smooth! I keep saying this but, I love this! And at £17, I’m certainly buying the full sized one when I’ve used this one up. It absorbs really quick so its not all sticky and it smells so good!
Hair care was also an easy choice, I already have my go to shampoos so they were out and I’ve got such a huge bottle of hairspray, I didn’t need that either. I wear my hair messy and curly most of the time so I wanted to try a new salt spray.
What: This vitamin-rich spray gives you beachy waves at first spritz.
How: Spray evenly onto damp hair and style
Result: It smelt lovely! The nicest smelling salt spray I’ve encountered but, it is just a salt spray, nothing that special. I didn’t see any difference between this and my Tresemme one I’m afraid. It’s not that it’s bad, but I certainly wouldn’t buy it at £17 a bottle!
Finally, the ‘Beauty Bonus’. I was a tad disappointed in these choices. I chose the pillow spray that is supposed to help you get a better nights sleep.
What: This natural lavender blend helps you to sleep through the night with ease.
How: Shake the bottle and spray directly onto bed linen before bedtime.
Result: It smelt ok? I really haven’t noticed much difference in how well I’ve slept since using this. I don’t think it has helped me at all but that isn’t to say that it wouldn’t help other people. I won’t be buying it though.
All in all, I’ve been quite impressed with my first ever BirchBox. I love most of the products and have a few that I’m going to have to buy! For buying it at Selfridges, I was given a code to get my first ‘real’ BirchBox for £5. Obviously, I’ve ordered it so, watch this space!
Lets talk about BirchBox I caved! I finally bought into the BirchBox idea. Granted, I got to pick my own products when I went to Selfridges in Manchester, but still, I bought one!
A few weeks ago, the boyfriend and I, along with Jo and Shaun, took a trip to Amsterdam. We booked through National Holidays, pick up from Huddersfield, travel to Hull, overnight on the Ferry, travel into Amsterdam and all the way back for £39 each! We just couldn’t say no!
We ended up getting on the Ferry a good few hours before it was due to set sail so there was nothing else to do but drink! So from 6:30, we drank, and drank a bit more and watch a half decent cabaret act on the ferry. By the end of the night we’d saved 10 Grolsh bottles for Ryans home brew (more on that another day!) and were all slightly tipsy. Walking up the the outside deck when sober on a rocky ship is not an easy task, so attempting to do that when drunk was pretty hilarious. The getting back down was even funnier. I think the sea air must of had an effect on Shaun, watching him try to climb back up to the sky deck and then down the stairs to the cabins had us all in stitches! When we finally made it back to the deck our cabins were on, we were met by a steward who told us off for being too loud and then, escorted Shaun back to his cabin… Cue more uncontrollable giggles!
Sharing a single bottom buck bed made for an uncomfortable nights sleep for me, but not quite as uncomfortable as poor old Shaun. We met them in the morning (eventually!) after knocking on their cabin door a few times and having the door shut in our faces 3 times, Shaun was not in the best of moods. Jo told us, whilst laughing a bit too much, that during the night, Shaun had fallen out of the top bunk, and just slept on the floor for the rest of the night. Again, more uncontrollable giggles! Then, whilst disembarking, Shaun just walked off without his case! I don’t think we’d laughed so much in a long time.
It continued on the coach, and when we arrived in Amsterdam, all that Shaun wanted to do was to find a coffee shop for a ‘Bifta’! However, we started in the Sex Museum. In the silly mood we were in it probably wasn’t the best idea, spent most of the time laughing at everything!
The weather wasn’t great, so my camera stayed in my bag most of the day. We went to a few cheese shops, who knew Amsterdam had so many? Then we spent an hour or so wandering round the Red Light District. It was quite strange, the last time we were in Amsterdam, nearly all of the windows had women in them, but this time, we struggled to find any with people in. They were all for rent. Hmm.
We finally found a Coffee Shop after quite a long time wandering the streets. Shaun even stopped a random person to ask where he could get some! Rather embarrassing! We walked in the shop and Shaun asked for the strongest one, Blue Cheese! He’d been going on about it since the night before! Luckily, they didn’t have any in stock! He then tried to get the next strongest but finally listen to reason and we ended up getting a couple of weaker ones.
Smoking it was the funniest! We all crowded round a little table in a crowded smokey room and started passing it around. It only took a few drags for Jo to feel the effects, she suddenly said she had to get out! I’ve never seen her move so fast! Shaun followed so me and Ryan finished the last of the joint.
When we got outside the others didn’t look too great! Walking round again was so funny, Shaun was walking like he couldn’t bend his legs and I have never seen anyone that shade of green! Think it might of put them both off drugs for life!
That trip to Amsterdam had to be one of the funniest things I’ve done! I don’t think I went 10 minutes without laughing for the 3 days! Think we are looking at Bruges around the same time next year! No legal weed there luckily! And I think we have learnt not to let Shaun drink so much before attempting to sleep on the top bunk!

Lets go for a ramble
This post will mainly just be photographs. I was so happy with the way a lot of them turned out. The other day, we went for a nice long walk around the Holme Valley. Didn’t have much of a route in mind, we just wanted to see where our feet took us. It was quite nippy but apart from that it was a wonderful day for a walk. The sun was out, the wind had died down and we were wrapped up and ready. We…

Well, to a Salisbury Cathedral to be more precise. It is one of my favourite places to visit when I go to my Grandmas. I always remember looking at it as a child and thinking how giant it was and how tiny I was in comparison. That still hasn’t changed! My 4’11 self still feels insignificant next to the tallest spire in the UK. It still amazes me that it took 38 years to build with no machinery,…

Strange right? How can something that is supposed to be super shiny and look like metal be matte? Just what I thought when I saw this nail varnish in the sale in Topshop ( ’cause who really looks at full priced stuff in there? It’s way over my student budget!) But I saw this little bargain (reduce from £6 to £1.50) and was totally intrigued so, of course, I had to buy it and try it out! I started…
