Trump pandemic report sections include: Downplay. Deny. Protect Stock Market. Support Pork, Not PPE. Undermine Testing. Blame others. Trust your gut, not science. Sideline CDC. Over promise, under deliver. Give hot potato to Governors. Liberate states. Play the victim. Bleach.
The Greatest Generation suffered the Depression, fought World War II with 416,800 military deaths & rebuilt America. Patriots. Our heroes today are those on the front line & not the armed militias playing “patriot” in Michigan & Texas. Even children know the difference.
Did anyone ever take credit for what you did in school, at work, or as a volunteer? It is hard to understand such blatant dishonesty, yet they are guilt-free. Then, they blame others when things that they do fail. It is impossible to trust, respect, or follow such weak leaders.
Trump was credibly warned in January about the pandemic. Why did he fail to act? He could have been a hero and ensured his re-election by acting decisively and effectively. Instead, apparently true to character, he did nothing, and now we are trapped in a Greek tragedy.
Very true. We also lead the world in the number of infections and in the number of deaths. With 4.25% of the world population, we have 32% of the total infections & 28% of the deaths. Our daily testing of about 264,000 is far short of the 917,000 needed daily by May 15. MAGA!!!
Denial doesn’t change reality, nor does hiding data, under reporting deaths, dismissing predictive models that are negative, refusing to follow guidelines, rejecting new guidelines, false statements, empty promises, and cheer leading. More and more infections and deaths are real.
Those people? How arrogant, callous, ugly & racist. Since the conditions at meatpacking plants aren’t the cause, put these three & others who share their opinion on the production lines for two weeks & then test them. Walking that mile in “those” shoes will cure their elitism.
Wow! Trump is very angry. He’s not getting enough protection against the coronavirus. Welcome to our reality. Many Americans feel that Trump is not doing enough to protect them with PPE, testing, and more. In place of effective action, we get spin, happy talk, and lies.

For many, time stands still in this time of pandemic. Out of work, every day bleeds. Fear. Despair. Hopelessness. A Sabbath isn’t a day-off. It is a space for renewal to touch deep springs within yourself to find whatever is needed now: courage, hope, compassion and more.
The recent recommendations made by the CDC for the Tyson meatpacking plant in Sioux City are bankrupt. Feeble suggestions. Nothing mandatory & OSHA, too, is complicit. Trump loves Big Macs despite the fact that their cost will also include lives of workers in these plants.
The pews are empty. Online community helps a little. In this time of distancing, we acutely realize that we are made for others & they for us. For too many, life is lonely & grim. Reach out. Text. Call. Send a note. Connect. Wave. Donate. Pray. Weep. For each, for all, for you.
So many lonely. So many in need. So many essential workers sacrificing so much in service. May they take solace in the ripples of gratitude flowing toward them from countless, thankful hearts. May their spirits be lifted, and yours as well. Sabbath rest. Sabbath service.
We need time away from the headlines, the statistics, the magical thinking of promises that will never be kept & the sorrow for the devastation. Stop. Close your eyes. Breathe. Rest. Take some sabbath-time to tend to your soul. Once renewed, rejoin this struggle for life.
Compassion. Empathy. Generosity. Solidarity. Caring. Connection. Decency. Any one of these would be sufficient for Trump to order FEMA to provide money to help with burials related to the pandemic, money that FEMA has. ANY ONE! Unmoved by death, grief, and suffering, he refuses.
Success? Over 60,000 dead, more than 1 million infected; lack of PPE & tests, over 30 million unemployed; GDP down 4.6%; growing food insecurity; expected increases in suicides, addiction & PTSD; looming bankruptcies & a decade-long recovery. What would failure look like?
