please for the love of God, dont download threads.
addendum: threads is so bad that it's literally banned in All Of Europe because it violates the GDPR, aka General Data Protection Regulation.
sick of other trans people looking like a deer in the headlights when reminded that amabs can be nb too. there are really still people in our own community who think a nonbinary person is like. a woman wearing jeans
i've had people treat me visibly different after hearing my voice or seeing my face as if i'm some sort of predator or interloper. this attitude towards amab trans people especially nonbinary people really paints a picture of what the lgbt community thinks of gender in general
anyway did i mention: amab enby rights

The 2023 Gender Census is now open!
[ Link to survey ]
The 10th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 9th May 2023.
Itâs short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.
After the survey is closed Iâll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like weâre part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers whoâd be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - itâs what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.
Survey URL:Â https://survey.gendercensus.com
The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesnât fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.
For the curious, you can also spy on some graphs and demographic data for the incoming responses here.
Thank you so much!

hi! is the census only open to people from the uk, or can anyone answer?
Anyone can answer, it's international. :)
This year we have a new question asking participants which country they live in, so that people can download the data and analyse only responses from their own country to use for activism etc. You can see how many people have participated from which countries so far here.

I wish all closeted LGBTQ+ people a very happy pride month.
yknow ever since people realized tumblr isnt dead and have decided to flock here from twitter and tiktok ive seen a huge influx of people in fandom spaces who dont reblog anything. at all.
like, i used to have an art blog with 340 followers. not a ton but not a small amount either given how this website works with creators. and in my experience back then even the ones who only left likes still reblogged other things or at least posted their own stuff. literally the only empty blogs were clearly bots.
but on this New art blog, iâve had so many people with fandom-specific headers and icons with actual usernames as urls and some kind of title or description, but have. Nothing. no posts. all they do is like things. and itâs always public, too. their following list and their likes list.
and honestly all it makes me think is that these people are New and also donât know how tumblr works. how likes donât give exposure. not even in a âoh, i know it doesnât give exposure, but iâm still going to reblog anywaysâ way, but in a genuine honest to god straight up doesnât realize tumblr likes donât work like twitterâs.
PLEASE please if youâre from tiktok or twitter or whatever please reblog peopleâs art both fandom and original if you like it!! and maybe actually pad out your blogâs content in some way so people wonât potentially see you as a bot and block you.
REBLOG ARTISTâS WORK. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY GET ANY ATTENTION ON THIS WEBSITE OH MY GOD. PLEASE. I BEG of you
WAIT THEYâRE REAL PEOPLE?! Iâve blocked several accounts so far because it was just âblanks spaceâ and I assumed it was a bot.
FOLKS if youâre new, please, please, this is not like Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. Reblogging is the way to go. This is how we network on here. This is how you make mutuals. This is how you share new stuff with others.
You are also:
Encouraged to add your thoughts to the post
Engage in conversation freely
Express yourself in the tags if you donât want to write in the post
In fact, write a god damn essay in the tags - we old members will read it, I promise - the limit on tags per post is insane anyway
Reblog the same thing as many times as you like. Like every time you see it, and you want to reblog it because it brings you joy - go for it!
Things that don't make you any less trans
Being gender nonconforming
Using multiple sets of pronouns
Being nonbinary
Your sexuality/romantic orientation
Not having deliberating dysphoria
Being nondysphoric
Not being able to transition
Not wanting to transition
Using multiple labels to describe your gender identity
hi iâm about to also make a probably bad decision (changing my legal name to oregano) and iâm not sure if iâll regret it, any advice?
not really beyond letting you know that changing your legal name does very very little in all reality and that all it does is give you a fancy piece of paper that you get to take places and go 'hey um you have to change my name in your records a judge said so', it doesn't change the name on your social security card, you have to do that yourself, it doesn't change it on your ID, your bills, car titles, bank accounts, debit cards etc
be prepared for that. just assume if your name is on papers somewhere you are going to have to personally contact the people who own those papers to get their records updated, and that until you get it all matched up everywhere you're going to be in this weird in between stage where the name on your ID doesn't match your debit card or your insurance has your old name but your doctor has your new one
as for the name itself I guess it can be important to some trans people and I know it's sort of important to me as well, but like. names really legitimately are not that big of a deal.
I went by my middle name my entire life before I changed it, to the point that not many of my friends or teachers even knew my first name. my first name was yes, part of my legal name, but the like, actual affect on my life was fairly small. and that's because I just...went by something else.
if you end up fucking hating oregano you can just...you know. not go by it. if it's something you don't hate but does make you go 'ugh I don't like this anymore' it's like, when was the last time you heard someone express genuine distress about their middle name, you know? obviously idk what order it's going in there for you, but the affect your legal name will have on your life is fairly miniscule aside from paperwork, and if you don't like oregano, you can just tell people 'i go by x though' when they do refer to your paperwork.
this of course all assuming that you have already changed/are changing your legal name to something that won't out you as trans, to be clear.
once you change your name because of being trans or whatever, people already know that a trans person's previous chosen name prior to the one they have now probably isn't going to cause them dysphoria or an inordinate amount of stress, so why is it different for changing your legal name?
if you end up not liking it, you can just be like literally any cis person who doesn't like their name, and go by something different. plenty of cis people don't like their legal names and just choose something else, there really isn't any super big thing that will mean unlike them, you will experience horrible suffering and pain and regret from a name you no longer are a fan of, especially if it's one that doesn't give you dysphoria because it's not your deadname.
My dad has a small stash of things in my room still, so whenever he gets a new bigoted book about trans ppl, I'll put it in my closet, so when he asks where they are, I can truthfully say they're "with some of (his) things."
never fucking mind, moving his bigotry manuals is a homeless-able offense if I ever do it again. Please help me, I can't fucking do this for much longer, I need to move, and I can't hold a job because of my disabilities right now
Please please if you can spare anything, my paypal is: Pyralismultiple.
i've spent years making sure I do everything short of Not Posting to make sure no one I don't want knowing about it finds my personal blog, but I can't worry about that anymore
I am a genderqueer autistic plural system that's been abused and is still being abused by my conservative and transphobic family. I have a hard time working, especially in my home town where there's no way to walk to a bus stop or anything like that, even apart from my disabilities making it difficult. The only shred of respect I get is that they use my name, and that's it.
I cannot live here any longer than I have to. My cat has been the only thing keeping me even remotely okay with being here, but that's not enough anymore, and I Need Out. Please, please help me so I can start looking for a place, and/or some transportation to more open minded family.
My Paypal, as said before, is Pyralismultiple (thanks ahead of time for ignoring the deadname). And if you check out @digital-art-from-the-soul, you can support me that way too, either by sharing it or commissioning a piece, either will help a lot

I am so untrusting of minors on discord as well as feeling bad for them and I think both feelings can coexist
I have been in public discord communities where the majority of fans are minors and honestly the behavior they exhibit is both inappropriate and shows a lack of caution
There have been kids I've seen who immediately post pictures of their face in photo-sharing channels, but it gets worse than that. They've posted baby pictures, pictures of them with friends and family members (mentioning those people by name as well) pictures at locations with captions relating that location to where they live ("me at the park by my house!") pictures of them at school.
If you are on semi-decent terms with these kids, and you ask, they'll often tell you what state they live in. Plenty of kids outside the U.S. will straight up tell you what country they live in as if to brag. If you ask someone what time it is for them out of concern that they're staying up to late, they'll tell you what time zone they live in and often end up talking about sleep schedule, home life, etc.
Kids will turn on their cameras in a public vc if someone else has theirs on too. Kids will feel embarrassed that they're on mute in a vc and always explain it with "my mic isn't working," never, "I'm not comfortable sharing my voice"
They'll share personal information like interpersonal relationships those in the server aren't a part of. They'll link their other social medias, even private ones. They'll introduce themselves in introduction channel with real name, age, and often their neurodivergency or even their triggers. And if you have a vent channel, they'll use it like a substitute therapist.
If you're a minor in a public Discord server, I get that you want to make friends, I really do. But you have GOT to be so careful in these situations. You CANNOT trust people, no matter how nice they are to you. You should ALWAYS exercise caution when operating and being part of a discord server. Please, this is not me being a wet blanket, this is me trying to help you be safe.
(P.S. Imo, minors should never be mods if 18+ people who know what they're doing are on the server)
What taking testosterone will change:Â
- how much body hair youâll naturally grow (hint: a whole lot more)
- your muscle mass. youâll gain muscle taking T, especially in the shoulders and youâll lose body fat in the hips. itâs different to everyone how the body fat is redistributed but taking T is the best time to get in an exercise routine because youâll gain muscle a lot faster.Â
- your clit might get bigger within like the first two weeks. get ready for that because I wasnât
- you could get mood swings when you first start because itâs Puberty: The Sequel
- within 3 months youâll notice your voice begin to drop
-hunger and hot flashes. Hunger and Hot Flashes
- you may notice that a lot of anxiety is going away! thatâs because testosterone (may possibly, this one is just my experience) can help mellow you out, and also some aspects of your dysphoria (high pitched voice, periods) are going away
What taking testosterone WONâT change:
-your aggression. you are not going to turn into some out-of-control rage beast. if you are, then you probably need to talk to your doctor about it. T can give you mood swings because of, like I said, you are going through puberty again, but itâs not going to make you an angry person.Â
-your personality. i say this all the time, but deciding to transition does not equal deciding to be a brand new person. you are still you! in fact, transition means that you are becoming more you than ever! adding testosterone to your body is just something that you decided youâve been missing to help you grow into the great person that you are!
-your overall health. of course, there are concerns when taking a new hormone, but if you look at the health risks, itâs mostly risks that cisgender men typically have. Increased heart issues? Thatâs a cisman thing. And the increased risk for problems in your ovaries/uterus? I mean, yeah, people who naturally produce the levels of testosterone that we are going for usually donât have ovaries. So that one makes sense, you know?
Moral of the story is we need to stop scaring people who are taking hormones! Yes, itâs a big step and an important decision, but itâs has nothing to do with changing who you are on the inside. In the end, you are still who you are, just with a few different features!Â
The stereotype that transgender men are sweet, soft boys before T and then afterwards are hairy, aggressive men is problematic and very tiring.Â
EDIT: Since this has blown up, I want to say that the physical aspects are definitely based off my own experiences and what the given medical pamphlets say. Testosterone affects everyone differently! Each person will have variations and their own specialized journey!
Thereâs so much info about tucking and gaffs (less so) but to all new trans girls.. just get some cotton panties like boyshorts style and push it back gently.
Like you might have to do slightly (slightly) more for tighter clothes or different fabrics but like⌠ya donât need to tape yourself every day⌠or ever⌠and gaffs are good but unless youâre wearing something tight n thin cotton boyshorts or some other strong underwear will do the trick.
Like all this info pretending like you need special gaffs, tape, to shove ur testes up into your inguinal canal, etc. is classist, physically harmful, and preventatively daunting information to be spreading without disclaimers like this.
Idk if this has been said before but a long time ago another trans lady and I kinda realized we could just wear 2 pairs of underwear and call it a day without taping or anything fancy. Its definitely a cheap alternative and Ive been doing it for 6 years đ
I wear jeggings to work and when im out and about and I never get looks or comments, idk if this is helpful to anyone tho đ
to every transfemme person: please read this it will save you so much time, money, and energy
I had a friend who wore some layers compression shorts and called it a day
high-key it's actually fucked up to make fun of people who's hairlines changed because of testosterone as if its appropriate in the fucking slightest to make fun of a side effect people get sometimes when they transition by going on HRT
