YALL WILL NOT BELIEVE WHAT I JUST FOUND! So I lifted these pills from Walmart like about 2 months ago and just this morning I realized there was this little package in it with a security tag INSIDE! Now that I look back on it I do remember the towers beeping when we walked out. But my partner was with me and she also lifted some things and we walked out with other people too so when the towers beeped I dead ass thought it wasn’t me. A worker lady started calling and making sounds but I just kept walking bc there was no way the pills made the towers beep, I checked the entire bottle and it had no tags? WRONG! Boy was I wrong, the tag was IN the bottle this whole time. So PLEASE thoroughly check your items before walking out those towers bc I got lucky this time but next time you might not be! mini nervous rant

I want to haul tomorrow but I’m so nervous that I’ll beep because I’m trying out a new booster cup… I have around 5-ish layers of aluminum foil but I feel like it’s not enough and I will be caught, plus, I don’t know a store where I will have an easy getaway if I do beep. I actually have a pretty elaborate plan in case I do - I’m planning on filling the booster cup with apple slices or something to hide the tag I put inside it so I can pretend it’s just a lunch container if my bag gets checked. I’ll hide the item I’m taking on my body so that hey won’t find anything in my bag. hopefully this will work, but I am very skeptical. I’m thinking of trying it out at a Victoria’s Secret that I know is hectic with young employees… I’m so nervous but I know the booster cup (if it works) is safer.

Common sense tip #5

Always have your story straight before you go in to a store. If you lift with other people, you need to get your story straight. It’s great to make it seem like you’re killing time instead of actually shopping. Then it won’t seem sus if you leave without buying anything. These are the ones I use the most: (This is basically what I say when an SA cs me)

1. I’m just browsing. I accidentally locked my keys in my car and I’m waiting for my bf/mom/gf/etc to come open it for me. Thanks!

2. Just looking. My bf/mom/gf/etc is over at (appropriate store name) so here I am.

3. I thought I’d stop in and see if you have (product you know they don’t carry). Oh you don’t? That sucks. Thanks anyway!

Search loss prevention jobs in your area haha. Helps you know what places are short staffed of lp therefore easier to lift from. This isn’t new info on here but you can sign up for an email list so you can find out immediately when places are lacking in loss prevention staff.

Go search ‘shoplift’ or ‘shoplifter’ on the r/TalesFromRetail sub. There are TONS of threads and most of them are pretty detailed on what tipped the SA off, what the shoplifter did wrong, what they did, etc so you can learn from others’ mistakes!

Signs LP are watching you

Today was my first lift since being caught. Talk about PARANOID!! It took me 5 HOURS to hit 3 stores in the mall.  

Pre-Caught, I’d hit about 5-7 stores in less than 2 hours and get 10x the amount!  I miss the confidence, adrenaline and FUN I had. I see it in you guys now.  Enjoy every minute of it people. I really hope to get it back one day.  Baby Steps….Or, baby hauls. 

So I thought several people were LP in any and every store I went into today. I was crazy paranoid!!!  ANYONE who made eye contact with me, pissed me off.  Especially MEN in Victoria Secret. Mind your own business Asshole!!! Constant staring, constant looking. A lifters pet peeve! Especially today.

So one mistake I made when I got caught was I paid zero attention to the two LP that were following me on foot. I kinda noticed them, but it wasn’t until afterwards that I kept kicking myself for not paying more attention.

After you leave a dressing room, walk away and then quickly go back as if you left something in it…because hopefully you did leave a few items behind so you have an excuse. Anyone rush in there? Pay attention.

You finally get into a dressing room to conceal and hear someone  go in the room next to you. If it’s not that busy, be very suspicious! Look underneath if you’re able to. Not completely underneath, Hahaha, but at their feet. Are they doing anything or just sitting there? If they’re not trying on clothes or seem to be trying on 1 item for 10 minutes, be careful.

Go to random areas of the store and reach into a pile of jeans and move them or re-stack a couple shirts. That person who followed you, do they go there too and pretend to look at the same stack? How convenient.

Do they get in line behind you? Not just anyone, but a person who’s been following you, checking your dressing room or constantly on their cell phone and watching you? Watch for this.

This could save you 1 Arrest, $2000, a ride in a cop car, community service hours, a boring diversion class and court costs.

I honestly don’t understand why I have only seen a couple times anyone on here say they use tin foil. It works, it fucks with the detection, and gets rid of the evidence far better than double tagging, pocket tagging, or anything else, or even leaving hangers behind *and no, putting a non-hung item is not less suspicious at all, because employees know what items are hung or not.

Like, if you’re running around with a magnet or hook, go in with the intention to steal, or have a hefty total, you are ALREADY a felon. I don’t understand why people are so afraid of tin foil but think a magnet is more permissible. LOL You will be fucked either way, but there are huge benefits to disrupting the system and taking your evidence.

Oh, and magnets are detected too by some gates. So don’t give me that, I mean, really.
