I’m rereading the power of three, and the way the Erin’s wrote Hollyleaf perspective after she killed Ashfur is executed so well. In both lionblaze and jayfeather’s chapters you can see that they question who killed Ashfur, they’ll think things like “when we find out who killed Ashfur” or “what if sol killed him?”, but the writers never use phrases like that for Hollyleaf’s thoughts. On the first read through it just seems like the Erin’s are trying not to repeat themself, but you can see how much thought they put into it. While Hollyleaf still thinks a lot about Ashfur her it’s more about what will happen next, she never actually questions who killed him, Because she already knows. Before Ashfur body is found Hollyleaf is trying not to think about Ashfur, and starts to question “how far a cat should go to preserve the warrior code.” Instead of coming across as the guilt that this is, first time readers just think she’s nervous about the secret getting out. This is seen again later on when she is hunting. She starts to feel sick, and ashamed of her skills, we originally think that she feels sick thinking about death and how someone could break the warrior code in that way, but with more insight we know that those same hunting skills is how she killed Ashfur.

There’s so many more examples of this and idk if I explained that right but I’m finding it really cool to see all the clues and careful ways the Erin’s managed to keep the killer a secret while still giving us Hollyleaf’s POV. Lots of people discredit the writing in warriors, and yes it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a lot better than most people think.

Anyway this was inspired by Hollyleaf’s doubts about her use of hunting skills. I can imagine the trauma from killing Ashfur stayed with her every time she catches prey.

The most interesting part of Snowfur’s character is the fact that she was violent and eager to fight, she died chasing fleeing warriors away ffs.

The fandom regards her as too perfect and innocent for this world, someone who made Thistleclaw "good" and of course the devoted loving mother with a tragic death.

When in reality, she pretty much dismissed Thistleclaw’s actions of violence. She hated being stuck in the nursery. She wanted blood on her paws and she wanted to fight. That's who she was. Not some cute fluffy little angel in love with the bad boy. She WAS the bad boy.

Always bummed me out that Brightheart never got the chance to have her very own proper apprentice :[ she’d be a way better mentor to Lion than Ashfur could ever be! I’m sure Squirrelflight n Brambleclaw would approve more at least
