One of the last project I help to develop at Nearly Normal.

What brings us together at Nearly Normal is our love for paper craft and design. For this Valentine’s Day we’ve chosen to use our individual skills and expertise to create a tribute to LOVE. This is our collaborative poster – Its design is inspired by the coming together of each of our individualities, glued with paper and passion. I took part at the design of the cards, choosing the right colours and combinations, and while the guys were glueing everything together with care, Baz and I wrote the text and then shoot. Concept and creative direction by Saulo and Jaime.

Che titolo mi metto oggi? Un Balzac o una Munro? 

Con lo slogan “your books next to your heart”, nato tutto da un gioco di una blogger appassionata di libri e molto intraprendente, oggi Bookstee è una “chicca” per amanti di libri che dalla Nuova Zelanda, ma per mano di 3 italianissimi, spedisce magliette in tutto il mondo. La particolarità delle Bookstee è l’illustrazione: una pila di libri, una decina, scelti uno ad uno da ciascun cliente, per il piacere di avere i propri titoli preferiti vicino al cuore, appunto. “Chi ne ordina una, avrà un esemplare unico. Ci pensate? Nessuno al mondo avrà una maglietta così – spiega Giulia Depentor, cofondatrice - certo, può capitare ma è davvero molto difficile e in quel caso vi consigliamo di cercare subito il vostro “gemello” e di fargli una proposta di matrimonio!”.

“Tutto è nato chiedendo dal mio blog 'The Blooker' di immaginare uno scaffale d’oro dove inserire i libri preferiti. Anche Elena, la cofondatrice di Bookstee, mi ha spedito una lista e, essendo una bravissima designer e illustratrice, l’ha corredata con un disegno dei suoi volumi impilati – racconta Giulia - in quel momento una lampadina si è accesa sopra le nostre teste!”. Dopo qualche mese, e trasferiti tutti in Nuova Zelanda, i tre fondatori – ad Elena e Giulia si è aggiunto Alessio per la parte più tecnica – hanno dato vita al progetto. Oggi è attivo dal sito Etsy. Una delle cose più ardue è stato scegliere il nome, “abbiamo riempito elenchi di acronimi e giochi di parole, finché alla fine abbiamo optato per il più semplice e descrittivo: books -come libro- e tee -come maglietta”.

I clienti standard di Bookstee non sono molto standard, “ci sentiamo un po’ snob: ci rivolgiamo ai veri amanti della lettura, a quelli che piangono quando finiscono un libro. Non vogliamo che il nostro diventi un prodotto “di moda”, preferiamo che rimanga una chicca – spiegano i tre cofondatori - Un nerd, o un topo di biblioteca, impazzisce di fronte a questo progetto!”.

Mentre producono e smistano in tutti i continenti titoli e copertine di ogni tipo, Giulia, Elena e Alessio si fanno conoscere e progettano altri prodotti ma soprattutto liste, per i tanti indecisi in giro per il mondo, per chi in 10 titoli non sa concentrare le proprie letture del cuore. Ci sono infatti le liste tematiche, ad esempio quella dedicata agli autori inglesi, ma ne stanno preparando tante altre, e con una mensola di Bookstee si può arrivare a riprodurre una intera libreria.

In the company I work for, the percentage of Brazilians is really really high (even if the 99% of their ancesters are Italian) so sharing this is something I really care about. If you don't know what it's going on right now in Brazil, it's time to have a better idea. "Non sono tutte rose e fiori!" and I am proud of their reaction/action, something we (Italians) should take for examples.
