Some more True Crime Podcasts that I strongly recommend:

Southern Fried True Crime: Erica Kelly is the host of this one and she is sassy and perfect. No banter. She's straight to the point and she has the voice of an angel. Super soothing, oddly comforting.

True Crime Obsessed: Hosted by Patrick Hinds and Gillian Pensavalle. They are fucking HILARIOUS!!! They watch documentaries and retell the stories, with an emense amount of humor. If you're a person where loud laughing pretty much constantly bothers you, this isn't for you girl.

Small Town Murder: Another Comedy/TC pod. Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie Whisman. They have kind of a dry humor, but I find them hilarious. I also really like their voices. They also give a lot of statistics about the town the murder was committed in so that's pretty interesting.

Morbid: Last but certainly not least..these girls are my absolute favorite. Hosted by Ash and Alaina (can't remember last names). They are also fucking hilarious. Very well researched and so many details, more than any other pod I've listened to. You will be laughing your ass off while simultaneously being horrified. Have fun.

Just started listening to this podcast this week (I'm all caught up). It's also a show on A & E but the podcast goes into way more detail and focuses on one person instead of 2 or 3. These episodes have all been about woman who have been attacked and assaulted so if you're easily triggered please proceed with caution in listening !

I love it and I love the show and I'm super excited they are starting from the very beginning. Ugh I love Tori and Tyrella with all my heart they are my spirit animals! If you enjoy the show...you will love this podcast.

I've been listening to Morbid: A True Crime Podcast for a few weeks now. I'm on episode 58 now.

I'm currently unemployed so I have been doing nothing but listening to them.

They are freaking hilarious and seriously one of my favorite podcast of all time. They do go off on a lot of tangents but I enjoy it and it's usually somehow related to the case.

They do cover a lot of things that have already been done a lot before but I learned a lot of details that I hadn't heard before. They also do some informative episodes as well. For example, there was an episode about what happens to your body (physically) when you die...going into details of decomposition etc. She also goes into explaining body farms.

Super interesting and I'm sooo glad I started listening! Give it a shot!

Obscura S1 episode 14

I just finished this episode last night. Unlike most of the episodes, this one is not about true crime. As I stated in a previous post, I just started listening to this podcast recently so I didn't know he'd veer off to different subjects. Usually, I don't like it when podcasters do this but this one..wow. Am I the only one who has NEVER heard of Fatal Familial Insomnia (FFI) ???

The host himself has sleep issues so that is why he chose this subject. I found it very interesting and also fucking terrifying. Basically, this disease can hit you at really any point in your life and all of a sudden, you're not able to sleep anymore. Eventually, your sleep deprived body will start to deterirate along with your mind. Most start to have hallucinations, extreme fever, trouble swallowing and fast acting dementia. In most cases, the patients die in just a few months after diagnosis. After it takes hold, they become catatonic or slip into a coma. Death comes for them shortly thereafter.

This disease still does not have a cure, but a woman who has the gene mutation actually stopped being a lawyer and went back to school at Harvard to become a scientist. Top 5 True Crime Podcast recommendations:

Crime Junkie -yes I know this is a very popular one but for very good reason. Ashley Flowers makes a great host and is an excellent story teller. This is a pretty scripted podcast but you don’t really notice it as you’re listening. I always tell people to start off with this podcast because its one of the best out there and makes you want to delve further into True Crime. 

Killer Queens- this one is not so well known but seriously worth listening to. This a very unscripted and light-hearted podcast.  Hosted by two sisters who are always respectful of all victims but like to put their own opinions and thoughts with a twist of humor. If you’re in to right down to business type of podcasts, this one isn’t for you. They also like to curse a lot and make a lot of 90′s references. The ONLY bad thing I have to say about Killer Queens is that sometimes I think they could do a little more research before doing an episode on something. They sometimes don’t know some important details and suck at pronouncing names but overall a great podcast. 

Court Junkie- this one is very scripted as well but SUPER informative. The host is very thorough and doesn’t leave out a single detail. I love this one because she almost always handles cases that have been resolved and you end the podcast satisfied that the killer has been found + brought to justice. The host, Jillian Jalali also appears on 20/20 (at least one episode that I know of and have seen, maybe more). 

Obscura- I just recently started listening to this one. The hosts voice is for some reason super soothing to me. I am about 7 episodes deep here and I am just loving it. He is also very detail oriented and you can tell he really does his research! Sometimes, he likes to throw in his opinion on things but he doesn’t go on rants like some do. He basically is like, “ I would like to chime in here and make it clear that i think this is fucking disgusting and NOT okay.” Obviously not his own words but you get the gist. 

Serial Killers- this one is def like the least exciting one. But I love it because of how informative it is and they really try to get in to the minds of the Serial Killers. They do cases that you would kind of expect but then again they do a lot of cases that you probably haven’t heard of as well. I find the both of the hosts voices to be very soothing here too. They sometimes like to throw a little sarcasm from time to time. Great option if you are strictly wanting to learn about Serial Killers. 

All of these podcasts I listen to on Spotify but they are pretty much available everywhere. If anyone has any recommendations for me, let me know. I am constantly looking for new stuff to listen to.

I stopped listening to Crime Junkie when they continued to ignore the Plagiarism accusations against them. I have not been listening to a lot of True Crime podcasts of late because life continues to happen, but here are some that I do highly recommend:

Invisible Choir - This is a rather intense podcast, definitely not for the faint of heart. But the research he puts on every episode is just unbeatable. He also inserts actual police interrogations, 911 calls, interviews, etc. to the episode and it makes it more real when you hear the actual people/events taking place.

True Crime Enthusiast - Paul here is such a personality. I really enjoy the storytelling on his podcast. When I stopped listening to CJ, I admittedly missed Ashley’s personality and for a while I found it hard to find a True Crime podcast that matches her storytelling. This is it for me. The podcast focuses on the more obscure cases in the UK and Ireland, every case presented is also well-researched, but what got me really hooked is the storytelling.

The Storyteller: Murder Most Foul - I listened to this podcast mainly to familiarize myself with the Scottish accent. Unlike the first two ones that features different case per episode, this is a 9-episode podcast following a grisly murder in the town of Aberdeen in Scotland. The podcast(er?) is a journalist and it definitely shows in the way she presented the rather horrific story and done her interviews. She also became friends with the mother of the murder victim, and the interviews with her are just more personal and respectful.

and the last but certainly not the least:

Cold Podcast - If I am to recommend just one Podcast, this would be it. This podcast has singularly changed my life. It dives deep into the life and disappearance of Susan Powell, a 38-year old wife, presumed to be murdered by his own husband, and who up to this day has not been found. It’s a rather unorthodox and deeply saddening case of domestic violence, the podcast featured a lot of never-before-seen materials surrounding the people of this infuriating case. It will compel you to look after both people you love and don’t know a lot about. I am never the same after I finish this, and it is, in my humble opinion, the best True Crime podcast out there.

I totally understand about CJ but everyone makes mistakes and they are taking the right steps to be better. Although I don't agree how they tried to be as minimally public about it as possible. I feel like they should really have taken accountability and owned up to it.
