I was their friend but they weren't mine. That's one of the hardest lessons you learn in life - realizing that loyalty doesn't always go both ways. You can give someone your time, your trust, your heart, and still find out they never valued you the same. It hurts, but it also opens your eyes. It teaches you that not everyone who stands beside you is truly with you, and not everyone you care for is capable of caring back. And as painful as it is, that lesson becomes your freedom - because once you see it, you stop begging for love where it doesn't exist, and you start saving your energy for the people who actually deserve it.
