Super excited to be playing Peppermint Patty in “The Wonderful World of Snoopy” the musical. It feels good to finally be given another leading role. So thankful for this opportunity, and I can’t wait!

my story
I am a 23 year old girl who was overweight for most of her life. I lost a bunch of weight in an unhealthy way back in 2009. Then I decided to get healthy. In January of 2011 I started to develop a problem with my heart. I put some weight back on, and continued to yo-yo until Fall of 2012. Then I did weight watchers for a little, followed by eating healthy and working out. In January of 2013 I had my first of several surgeries; this one being on my shoulder. I was not allowed to do anything for quite a while. I gained some weight, but not too much. Then I my heart began to worsen. The summer of 2013 I was basically stuck on bed rest because of my heart. I had a cardiac ablation on September 20, 2013. I was then not allowed to do any physical activity for 8 weeks. At this time I was also diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Type 3. This is a connective tissue disorder that will be with me for life, and affect all my joints and the associated structures. The ablation worked until mid November. Then it was discovered that the problem was reoccurring and I would need another, more risky surgery. From mid November 2013 until February 2014 My condition quickly worsened, and I became virtually bedridden once again. I decided that my quality of life needed to improve. I was going to do something about it. I was scheduled for a second, more aggressive cardiac ablation on February 5. The surgery virtually knocked out the sinus node of my heart. I had a bad reaction to the surgery, and my blood pressure dropped through the floor. I was unconscious, unstable, and near death for about 5 hours. For the short time I regained consciousness during this, all I remember is screaming in agonizing pain. It was one of the scariest nights of my life. When I woke up that night I was in the ICU and was on dopamine to keep my blood pressure high enough for me to survive. This medication was left going through the night into the next morning. They were finally able to remove it, but my heart was not functioning in a manner that could sustain my life outside the hospital. Two days later on February 7, it was decided that I needed a permanent pacemaker implanted into my chest. This surgery was done, and did not have any complications. My blood pressure was finally in the normal range, and my heart was beating great with the aid of the pacemaker. I was allowed to go home the next day. The whole ordeal took a LOT out of me both physically and psychologically. I was worn down. I then developed two separate viruses while recovering from the surgery, which beat me down even further. Finally, about 2 months after the surgery I am able to return to a full, active, healthy lifestyle. I decided that I am going to take this time to be all I can be, and keep myself healthy.
I need to remember this. Even though I have had a very rough time since this post, I can, and will get through it. Liver surgery is over, yes the pain lingers, I graduated and passed my boards. Yes, I am out on medical leave from my first official OT job. But I will be back. I will get through this. Because well, there really isn’t any other choice. Luckily for me, I have an amazing man by my side every step of the way. I really am one lucky lady!
