Study for the Artist in the Motherland
Unfortunately with the ongoing pandemic, I haven’t been able to paint for the last month and that has taken a toll on me. For two years, I honestly refused to paint. Art did not bring me the same joy that it did in the years prior. The minute that I recognized it as work instead of a raison d’etre, drawing and painting were no different than my working retail. Now, I miss it more than most other things besides people. Painting helps the adult me feel like the imaginative teenager that I once was. It helps me to embrace and envision the person that I actually want to be.
