Hello! My name is Batsy and welcome to Jackass! I’m still studying all that I can do that I’m prepared for when I’m ready to officially start my conversion. I love my future community and will stand by them no matter what.

Things I should get out of the way:

My stance on the I/P conflict is that war crimes and death are bad. I am in favor of a two state solution: Palestine must be able to exist as its own sovereign nation and Israel needs to exist also. Both the Likud Party and Hamas are awful, but also Hamas is objectively worse because it is a literal terrorist organization.

“Zionist” does not mean someone who supports the actions of the Israeli government, and I will treat rhetoric that claims it does as bad faith.

Zionism is a Jewish philosophy that believes in a modern Jewish state in the Levant. There are also a bunch of different branches of Zionism that are too long to talk about here but can be easily found on Wikipedia. If you’re reading this and you’re a Zionist ily 🫶

Antisemitism has always existed but it’s never felt this fucking exhausting to be Jewish in all my 21 years of life. Five years ago my non Jewish friends were empathetic when I told them about antisemitism I experienced and now I know I can’t even discuss it with them five years ago I could draw fan art of fictional characters celebrating Hanukkah without getting death threats five years ago I could hang out in niche hobby spaces without seeing someone crochet a Star of David with a slash through it five years ago there weren’t posts on my city’s subreddit minimizing and denying the Holocaust and saying it doesn’t need to be taught in schools five years ago I could wear my Magen David necklace without being spat on five years ago I assumed I could have friendships with people who aren’t Jewish and now I feel like I’m constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop or for them to “find out” my “secret” like fuck man. When am I allowed to feel afraid?

this is a reminder that not only is it okay, but it is imperative to find joy and to be excited for things, even if they’re “silly” or “frivolous.” you are allowed escapism, and you deserve lightheartedness. your misery will not improve the tragedies and injustices of the world. your pain and fear is valid, and so too is your happiness and passion. you don’t have to constantly suffer to prove you care or that your humanity matters. you should hold onto whatever it is in this life that makes being alive not merely bearable but also brighter. you are worth kindness, including from yourself.
