HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE (2004)
love that the supergirl movie confirms that kryptonians aren’t weird ubermensch fascists and clark’s parents were just weird. Like they were just Scientologists or something
A thing I really appreciate about supergirl is that Kara is never shown to be pretty. Yeha she is pretty regardless because they casted milly fucking alcock but the never show her to be put together. They let her be messy. They let her be rude. They let her fuck up. Every time we see strong confident women in media they are always wearing the tightest bodysuit and look beautiful even when they have been beaten to shit. Not here. Every scene Kara is in she looks like a car had run over her. And they don't "transform" her and make her look prettier by the end to show that she has started to heal. Nah they keep her like that and they change how she acts. I love supergirl.
Finally, a "jaded alcoholic man whose loved ones are all dead avenges his dog" movie where the man's a woman and the dog doesn't die.

It’s funny how Taylor was like I’d like to make a pop album and made the perfect one on her first try.

having a hometown is such a fucked up concept. i grew up here so i do not want to stay here anymore. i miss it when i am away but once i am back i realise why i wanted to go away as far as possible from it. i am familiar with every corner of this place i did not realise when it slowly changed into something unrecognisable. i would probably like to be buried here but i'd rather die than live here

"hysteria", "outrage", "obsessive", "psychosis", and it's just a predominantly female fanbase, like alright ...
It's so disheartening and honestly predictable at this point how many are going out of their way to be hateful to Milly Alcock as the new Supergirl. We went from Superman 2025 summer of joy of being excited and full of hope and being happy to seeing the immediate judgement of Milly Alcock based on her looks and a few trailers. Now a few critics have even already said the movie is bad and how superhero movies are played out and nobody wants them and I just think it's funny how this only happens when a woman is leading a superhero film.
People did this with Captain Marvel with Brie Larson and made hate campaigns on her. Body shaming, picking at the character from top to bottom. Review bombing. This happened with Ms. Marvel with Iman Vellani. It's exhausting watching mainly men crucify these women for daring to be in a superhero movie.
It's odd to once again have a movie based on a major woman character and the fans hype up the men more in the movie. In this case it's Lobo being played by Jason Momoa. Just like Barbie with Ken played by Ryan Gosling being the focus during the movie and award season.
It's 2026 and we're still having people upset at women being lead characters and characters that are not focused on having a relationship in the storyline.
A lot say they want more representation for women in the media, and then bully already conventionally attractive women playing characters on the big screen.
Milly Alcock does not deserve the hate she is getting for playing Supergirl. I hope people give her a chance to succeed on the big screen as a superhero.
Supergirl was really good you guys just hate women
I just love how Supergirl isn't really about the revenge or the dog or anything that goes on at all. Its about two grieving girls trying to keep going in diffrent ways and teaching each other how to survive with the weight of it all while also inspiring each other to be better people. Its about not letting your past overtake your future. Its about prioritizing yourself instead of being fuled by your trauma. Its about being good no matter what.
