My name's Luke and the purpose of this blog is the writing of small reviews of bands that take my interest and hopefully posting videos of them. If possible those videos will be taken by my self, if not I'll link a video from YouTube. Which will probably be better anyway. As I also play the guitar and attempt to sing I will occasionally post covers on here. Every Friday I will select a cover video that I like from YouTube most likely one that is related to a band I've reviewed and link it to my blog. Also feel free to send me covers you've made and I'll post them along side my cover choice of the day. I will also be willing to cover songs of people's choice, depending of course on whether it's actually possible for me to perform it or not. Enjoy!

Otherside is the first song that Initial Thought wrote. Combined with vocal harmonies and vibrant guitar riffs, Otherside is the song that started it all and gave Initial Thought the inspiration to continue writing as a band.

Track 01 from By The Rivers Debut Album - Vulture Hi All

Sticking to my push of local bands to my area, this is a track from a Leicester band called By The Rivers.

They are a 6 piece Reggae (Alternative/Pop) band formed in 2010 and have steadily been on the rise ever since. Having a slot on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury 2013 and supporting various bigger bands, thy are starting to take big headline slots of their own.

Recent Activity

As I haven't posted recently with little chance to and the recent damage to my sd card, I wanted to start the ball rolling again by sharing with you guys a new EP that I've wrote with a friend of mine.

However the EP isn't finished yet, but one of the tracks are completed past the editing stage so please listen and feel free to comment, share and like or dislike as you feel. Time permitting, Initial Thought have made a cover video of Editors - All Sparks and I should hopefully have time to upload it this afternoon. We have a gig tonight so I'm limited to how much time I have.

We are currently in the process of making an EP and this is the first song completed past the editing stage. We have three more songs left to upload as and when they are edited. Silent Dream was written with distant friends in mind and dedicated to those who have had to leave people behind, whether it's by moving away or visa versa. A song for the home sick. Enjoy. Been kind of lost... onlinewise

So I left you with some stuff from the last gig I went to, which was Soundgarden. I had more material to add and I couldn't find my SD card... turns out I put it in the wash, at least I've found it. I haven't tried it yet, wanted to make sure it had dried out, I'm still hoping it's fine, but I have a feeling it isn't. I also don't think I transferred the files onto my computer (idiot!!!).

Anyway, I hope to get some stuff up in the next couple of weeks, which includes a cover or two from my acoustic band Initial Thought (very new thing), we have a facebook page if you're interested www.facebook.com/initialthought there isn't much on it yet, but we intend to changed that soon. We have our first gig on Friday, which will be fun. It's a bit of a farewell gig to another musical friend of ours that is moving to another country.

Anyway, I hope to be posting more soon. Which means I'm going to try and open the SD card tonight... let's see what happens.

There's not a lot more I can say about this. Soundgarden were phenomenally good. With a vast discography they never struggle to provide a extensive setlist.

I've noticed that each setlist they've done over pretty much every gig has been different each time. Keeps it a surprise on the night.

On September 14 2013 I had the pleasure of watching Soundgarden at the Birmingham o2 Academy. Graveyard were the support. I'd only heard of them about a week before the gig and was surprised their music didn't sound at all like their name. Very Zepplinish.

Note to myself on this one, it helps knowing a band's songs before you end up holding a camera for flippin ages. This is a long one ha. The band are mental, especially the drummer. I came out a fan and I think the majority of the audience were impressed with what they saw. Graveyard are probably one of the greatest support acts I've seen.
