An Epiphany for 2016
Sometimes you need to take a moment to realize that there are a lot of things out there to explore. Be it places, food, cultures, music, activities, books, and the list goes on limitlessly.
It’s fascinating how you can be inspired by many things around you, especially in this age where information is publicly available thanks to the internet.
However, before all of us got so invested with our phone screens, there was the television that served as the main ‘window’ to the entire world.
I remember watching ‘The Amazing Race’ and said to myself that one day I will be in that show to compete and to travel the world for free! Only that I vowed to myself that I would do every single challenge except anything that involves jumping off a plane or a cliff. My 14-year-old was very pumped to travel the world, visit places that I’ve never been to and basically just go around the world for free! Now all I have to do is to eliminate that fear and I’m all good to go!
And then there were the various travelling shows on cable TV syndications hosted by interesting and witty personalities that would want to make you dive into your screen and join them! In college, I discovered my then-newfound passion of speaking in public and I thought to myself that hosting a travel show of my own could be a really cool job to have!
Of course there was ‘American Idol’ that ignited the passion in me to sing and to perform and to have a career in that pathway. Something that I’m still working on.
Now that I am an adult, a part of me, a huge chunk of me, in fact, still possesses the ambitions of my 14-year-old self who wants to go around the world and to sing. I can safely say that I’m in a good place right now with my life; career-wise and basically everything. But this comfort zone is getting too mundane. I know I can still have the time and ability to explore more while doing what I’m currently doing right now; working on music festivals that make headlines across the region and possibly the world too in some occasions ;)
I can safely say that one of my major New Year resolutions this year is: to explore. (It’s not too late to have a sudden epiphany, right? We’re only 15 days into the new year anyway :P). In every single possible way. Doesn’t mean that I have to travel out of town once every month. I can still do it in the comfort of my cubicle while doing my work through the amazing invention that is the internet. Or if I want to take a more traditional approach, I can always read one of the many magazines that are sent to me almost every day from various publications in town.
So many things that are yet to be untapped out there that I can’t wait to discover. The world out there (both the real one and virtually) is so huge that it’s almost mandatory to discover something new every minute to enrich myself.
What am I saying? Man. That epiphany hit me hard.
