Random but Avatar has been on my feed lately, and something I can appreciate about the series is that the Avatar Cycle is completely reincarnation based with no hereditary factors

What I mean by that is that as a result, the Avatar is never under pressure to have children due to that status. They can be gay, ace, or just otherwise not have biological children, and it wouldn’t matter because the Avatar Cycle will continue anyways. And their children don’t inherit any of their Avatar-ness either, they’re just normal Benders. So the Avatar is free to love whoever they want and have children entirely by choice

I mean, that’s probably not always true, as they can be born into cultures with certain expectations or people have superstitions about the bloodlines of Avatars. But at least it’s not something rooted in the actual fact of the Avatar Cycle, they’re allowed to do whatever they want in this regard

For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.

It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldn’t be legalized nation-wide until 2015.

It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldn’t hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)

As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. That’s only ~19% of countries.

This is still revolutionary.

I have this idea about Spider gradually starting to wear some clothes in the months during A2, including (cutoff) shorts lmao. I was briefly in the airforce version of ROTC during highschool and I despised wearing BDUs in humid heat. Texture of sandpaper and breathability of cellophane,,, hellish
