﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌
the next few days were a blur for you, spent waiting for a text that never came. you wandered through your apartment, phone set down on the coffee table. it’d been only three days. three. and he still hadn’t messaged you.
you had to leave for school soon but decided you wanted to leave a few minutes later just in case you saw kuroo on your way there.
just as you were about to reach for your phone, your ringtone started blaring, and someone began to knock on the door. surprised, you swiped to answer it before making your way to the front door.
“hey what’s up?” you asked, the individual began to continuously knock on the door while you began to grow annoyed, “toru hold on one second some asshole is banging on my door.”
swinging the door open you were met with the sight of your brother, phone held up to his ear, and a big grin on his face.
“surprise!” he yelled, as you dropped your phone a smile making its way to your face as you jumped into his arms.
“toru! oh my god!” you screamed, jumping up and down with him, it’d been forever since you last saw your brother, almost a year and a half.
he was always busy and when he did have free time he definitely didn’t come back home, he’d party. but he always made sure to check in on you and never failed to make it to your scheduled facetimes.
“how long have you been in tokyo? come in!” you smiled, reaching for his suitcase and dragging it in, oikawa following behind you as he looked at your apartment in shock.
“just got here a few hours ago, figured i’d stay with you since the reunions in tokyo,” he shrugged, shutting the door, “apartments nice by the way.”
you nodded, turning to grab your phone from off the floor, “i forgot about that,” you admitted, “and thanks, i try to keep it clean but i get busy sometimes.”
“you’re still going aren’t you?” he squeezed his brows together, giving you a suspicious look.
“well yeah- but lately i’ve been thinking about it and i might not,” you shrugged, checking the time and deciding you’d have to leave soon if you didn’t want to be late. “i have to leave for school soon, wanna walk me there?” oikawa nodded before reaching for your bag on the couch and handing it to you, “why aren’t you going to go?” he asked, he wasn’t even subtle about the reason why, yet you didn’t catch it.
“um, well, i just have plans that day,” you lied, the reunion was in two days and it wasn’t the biggest concern at the moment. “you have plans, yet you already RSVP’d to it?” he rose an eyebrow while you stepped out of the apartment, walking down the stairs, and out of the building. “just bring whoever it is to the reunion.”
you looked at the ground before shrugging, “oh well, we’ll see, it’s just a reunion, there’ll be another some other day, in the very distant future.”
oikawa looked at you from the corner of his eye as you walked, you were twins and yet you looked nothing alike. different in every possible way, he was more outgoing while you weren’t, you were more forgiving than he was, and yet he couldn’t help but feel annoyed whenever he watched you go through something he couldn’t help with.
“you know what bothers me the most about you?” he started, this made your head snap towards him, “you never want to take any chances because you’re scared of the outcome.”
“where is this coming from, kawa?” you gritted out growing irritated.
“you and iwaizumi could’ve worked things out, you could’ve continued volleyball and gone pro, you were good at it, and, you could go to this reunion and have more fun than you think, whoever the guy is you’re talking to, whatever is bothering you right now, because its clear as day something is, just make the first move,” you glanced at your brother, face plain, arrogant walk, and a suspicious glint in his eyes. as the two of you slowed to a stop at the crosswalk, he turned to look at you, “you can’t continue being the scared little girl hiding behind me because she was afraid a boy was going to reject her.”
“that’s harsh,” you breathed out, “could you possibly fly back to brazil? like right now?”
oikawa let out a loud laugh before he lightly shoved your shoulder, “i’m just trying to say, as your older brother, i know you could be doing more and i want to push you, and if tough love is the way to do that, then that’s what i’ll do, i love you ya know?”
“yeah whatever asshole,” you leaned your head on his shoulder before you suddenly stepped away and glanced at him, “was that just a guilt trip to get me to go to the reunion?”
he sucked a breath in, “yeah pretty much- hey! don’t look at me like that! it worked didn’t it?!” he argued, throwing his hands up before his eyes shifted, “take the chance kid.”
you turned around, your eyes locking with cat like ones, your heart began to race faster as he got closer. kuroo gave you a small smile before standing next to the two of you, but stayed an arms length distance away.. his attention either focused on the light in front of you or on his phone. he didn’t bother making conversation, as much as it disheartened you, it hurt worse when the crosswalk light turned on and he was already walking away, already halfway to the other side.
oikawa gave your back a small shove, motioning with his eyes, “you gonna stand there? go.”
you quickly waved goodbye before rushing through the crosswalk.
“kuroo!” you exclaimed, trying to catch up to him, you watched his shoulders stiffen, your steps faltered. he stood silently, turning to look at you slowly, you felt afraid.
you wanted to walk past him, apologize, and never speak to him again out of fear, but, things had to be different. you forced your feet to move forward, inching closer and closer to him.
“you never messaged me,” you breathed out, looking into his eyes while he refused to look into yours.
take the chance y/n, take the chance! say what you want to say.
“look y/n-”
“no, i waited for you to message me, you said you would, so what happened? is there anything i can help with?” you asked, trying to figure him out.
“i didn’t know how to, i got embarrassed and ended up not saying anything at all, i thought you’d be upset or wouldn’t want to talk so i tried avoiding-”
“well don’t,” you stated, his shoulders slowly relaxed, “we can communicate instead of ignoring each other.”
he laughed, “you’re right, im sorry.” “just try not to do that again, okay? lets just talk it out, there’s no need to ignore each other.”
the two of you began to walk together, this time, shoulder to shoulder.
snap!
oikawa slowly let his arm fall, smiling at the picture he just took, you and kuroo both looking at each other with a big smile on your faces.
he zoomed in on your face, your face was glowing, a look he hadn’t seen in years, not since iwaizumi. oikawa thought of what to do, how messed up his next course of action was, and how it feel good for him to send it. but he couldn’t. he’d never seen you so happy, not in a very long time, he couldn’t do that to you. he figured that despite iwaizumi breaking your heart and you taking years to heal and move on, if kuroo could make you so happy in such a short time, it’d be better not to mess with it. and besides volleyball, you were the only constant in his life that he could rely on.
he turned his phone off, choosing to be the bigger person as he watched the two of you disappear from view.
“y/n you player,” he laughed to himself, the crosswalk continued to beep.
he began to walk away, everything had changed.
oikawa walked back to your apartment, deep in thought.
he opened his phone again.
don’t do it toru, he thought.
“fuck it, i’m not that good of a person,” he sent the image to his favorite person to target lately, “sorry y/n, if you won’t get revenge, i will.”
–
“im sorry,” kuroo had been apologizing the entire day, his face red with embarrassment.
“kuroo for the millionth time, it’s alright just talk to me next time,” you sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. he smiled before nodding.
“okay that was the last time i promise,” he swore, the two of you walked out of the school together, ready to walk home.
“hey i know it’s kind of random, but, i was wondering if you’d come as my plus one to a high school reun-”
“yes! i will!”
your face flushed red, turning your face away so he wouldn’t see, you felt gentle but rough hands graze your cheek. using his thumb and pointer finger, kuroo slowly turned your head to face him. your embarrassed face was met with an even more nervous expression.
his hands shook slightly as he pulled his hand back, shoving them into his pockets.
“kuroo?” you asked, your voice shaking.
“yeah?” he choked out, refusing to let his eyes meet yours.
“can we stay out later today?” you asked, your hand reached up to clench down on the strap of your bag.
he let out a soft laugh before nodding, “yeah, we could get something to eat if you want- oh! did you want to drop your bag off?”
you smiled, nodding enthusiastically, “yes please, i was just about to ask you that.”
the walk to your apartment was quick but also quiet, not a bad kind, it was just comfortable enough. your brother wasn’t home when you opened the door, kuroo waited outside the building, not wanting to invade your privacy or accidentally make you uncomfortable.
he leaned against the wall, staring down at his shoes, you were taking a bit longer than anticipated and he began to feel anxious wondering if something bad happened.
he heard footsteps growing closer, familiar voices chatting loudly about something from the past. he glanced up, eyes widening.
“eh? are you waiting for my sister?” oikawa asked, kuroo nodded, remembering him from this morning.
“yeah, she’s upstairs grabbing something,” he stated, eyes flickering to the boy next to him.
“shit, you look like you’ve been waiting here for a while, iwa keep him company, she’ll be pissed if she sees you,” oikawa rushed inside, leaving kuroo alone in the most awkward position he’d been in.
“you played volleyball,” iwaizumi started, “nekoma right?”
“yeah, yeah, we’ve met a few times at those training camps they’d hold,” kuroo almost rolled his eyes at the memories.
“so then you must know about me and-”
“yeah, who didn’t know?” kuroo gave a sarcastic laugh, “you guys were on top of each other.”
“does she know?” iwaizumi asked, he looked kuroo in the eye, “or did you pretend not to know her?”
“she doesn’t know that we’ve met before, not that i’d bring it up, isn’t that awkward?” kuroo countered, he knew what iwaizumi was trying to get at. he didn’t plan on telling you he knew you before, thinking it’d be awkward considering, he couldn’t bring it up without bringing iwaizumi up.
“why’s that?” iwaizumi rose an eyebrow.
“considering, she hasn’t brought you up at all, felt it might not be right for me to bring her ex-boyfriend up, ‘specially since he broke up with her in front of a bunch of people.”
kuroo almost laughed at how stupid this situation was, how would you feel if you came out and saw them right this moment? he’d look silly.
“do you actually like her?” iwaizumi asked.
“we’re still getting to know each other,” kuroo shrugged, “it’s fun being with her though.”
“well, from what i hear, she likes you, got any idea why she’s taking forever?”
kuroo shook his head.
“c’mon, you pretending not to know?” iwaizumi laughed, “i’ll walk you through it, she’s going through about three outfits and completely scrapping them all to make a new one, she’s been re-doing her makeup because she can’t get her eyeliner just right and accidentally smudges it which frustrates her, so, shes currently crying right now because she feels she’s going to look bad because she’s too much of a perfectionist.”
kuroos eyes widened slightly, before he nodded, “and you know her so well,” he sighed before exhaling loudly, “what am i doing here then?”
“i’m not trying to ruin anything, you should be watching her brother, i’m just saying, don’t play dumb.” iwaizumi shrugged before beginning to walk away.
“where are you going?” kuroo asked, his phone buzzed and his face grew guilty as he watched the notification disappear.
“im hiding, she’ll be upset if she sees me, i’d rather not mess up her date with you.”
kuroo glanced down, was this a date?
his phone buzzed persistently.
fuck.
“hello?” he answered, he glanced around, “alisa i can’t come to you right no- no i’m sorry i’m with a friend right now.”
guilt began to eat away at him.
“i’m with yaku, he’s in the bathroom right now,” he lied, “no- i can’t always come whenever you want me to-”
he stood in silence listening to alisa ramble, she was a sobbing mess, “okay fine, i’m coming, okay! just give me a second,” he raised his voice slightly, pinching the bridge of his nose.
he glanced at your apartment complex before sighing, shooting you a long apologetic text before disappearing into the night.
–
you sighed, throwing yourself down onto the bed, frustration consuming your entire body.
“seriously! who the hell cancels last minute? he couldn’t just say he had a family emergency? who the hell says ‘oh i’m sorry, i’m really tired and it’s getting late.’” you complained, kicking your feet. your brother stood at your bedroom door, arms crossed while his hand rested on his fist.
he had a pretty clear idea as to why kuroo left, it was his fault for leaving him there with the evil hound dog iwaizumi. he sighed to himself, mentally slapping himself.
maybe i should throw myself down the stairs so that when i tell her the truth she won’t be so mad- she’ll just feel bad for me, he reasoned with himself.
“y/n actually i-”
“you know what! i’m drinking tonight!” you yelled, shooting out of bed, spooking your brother as he stumbled into the door, watching you shoot past him and out the door.
he stood in a shocked silence before his senses kicked in, “shit iwa’s outside!” he hurriedly put his shoes on, and booked it down the stairs.
-
you didn’t care who saw you in this messy state, kuroo got you fucked up, and you needed at least five strong alcoholic drinks before bed.
“you’re tired? well so am i! what kind of excuse is that?” you mumbled to yourself, you must’ve sounded psychotic. you sped walk down the street, ignoring the fact your jeans were scraping against the side walk.
you frowned to yourself, but you weren’t about to waste an entire outfit.
it took you forever but you had finally decided on wearing a low cut halter top and bootcut jeans. you dug through your enormous pile of clothes, even scrapped three other outfits just to get to this one.
your train of thought began to speed up, each ramble that left your mind making less and less sense. you thought it would never stop, at least not until you got to the bar, that was until you slammed into something hard, derailing your train of thought.
“oh my god im so sorry!” you yelled, trying to help the man you basically body slammed into the ground. he groaned as you held your hand out, apologizing profusely, “im sorry!” you apologized again as he took your hand.
“watch where you’re going,” he groaned out, his hand reaching down to his lower back.
“i know i know im so sorry sir i-” you cut yourself off as he looked up.
your heart slowed and your body felt numb.
“y/n,” he breathed out, just as shocked as you were.
the two of you stood in stunned silence, still holding hands.
“iwaizumi,” you choked out, you could feel your heartbeat going faster, pounding in your head as you felt your eyes water.
“a-are you okay?” he asked, his eyes flickered to the corner of your eyes, “shit i’m sorry i smudged your makeup,” he looked at his sweater, sighing at how half your face was imprinted onto his sweater.
your face lit up in embarrassment. you’d sometimes wondered what it’d be like if you saw him again. preferably he would’ve seen you with an incredibly handsome man slung on your arm and living your best life. but clearly, this was your worst life and this interaction took years off your lifespan once you saw the imprint.
“i’m so sorry, oh my god, i feel horrible,” you admitted, you wanted to cuss him out or cry and run to the bar but for some reason, nothing bubbled up.
“it’s alright,” he let go of your hand, assuring you it’d be okay and that he could just wash it off.
“i should’ve looked where i was going- wait, why are you here?” you asked, “you don’t live in tokyo do you?”
“no, i’m just here visiting ‘kawa, i’m still in california,” he admitted, putting his hands in his pockets. you glanced down at them, retracting your hand in slight disappointment.
“oh that’s great, okay goodbye,” you nodded to him beginning to walk away, by now, you could feel the sadness begging to burst out.
you wanted to push him, shove him, and cry. you wanted to scream at him and beg him for clarification. you wanted to ask why he never said he loved you back, why he didn’t fight for you, why he never reached out and left you alone all these years.
you’d moved on from what happened. you accepted it. but perhaps a part of you couldn’t move on from iwaizumi.
your thoughts circled back to kuroo and you felt hurt all over again, it seemed like every guy in your life always disappointed you.
“i disappointed you?” iwaizumi asked, you stopped in your tracks, realizing that reality is brutal. you wished that you could just wake up from this nightmare.
“i didn’t mean to say that out loud, i apologize,” you adopted a formal tone, surprising iwaizumi, “have a good night iwaizumi.”
now you knew why toru wasn’t home when you got there, and why he rushed into the apartment.
“please don’t be at my apartment when i come back, if i do come back,” you gave him a small smile before turning away.
you didn’t catch how a piece of him crumbled at the sight of your smile, he felt exactly how he did back then when the two of you were young.
it felt like a movie, watching you walk away, he knew he should let go of you.
you looked beautiful, even more beautiful than the day he lost you.
just like that, he fell in love again.
–
“dude i’m so sorry!” oikawa breathed out, looking at his best friend who stood against the wall in silence, iwaizumi looked like someone had just stolen his soul and left the husk behind.
“iwa-chan i swear i got here as fast as i could!” oikawa yelled, moving his hands in front of iwaizumis face, but the boy barely moved.
“hello?” he cried out, “oh my god i killed my best friend oh my god- or my sister did- whichever one!” at this point oikawa was about to burst into tears dramatically.
“she looked beautiful, kuroo would be lucky to have her,” iwaizumi stated, oikawa had been trying to get him to talk for an hour now. he tensed up, feeling nothing but guilt and regret for letting them see each other.
iwaizumi flimsily held his arm up, face still looking soulless, “she held my hand, it was soft, i was surprised.”
“iwa?! why are you talking like that?! snap out of it!” he exclaimed, shaking iwaizumis shoulder.
“toru,” iwaizumi never called him by his name, oikawa could feel his spirit actively leaving his body, “you can kill me now, i’ve lived a good life.”
“lets get you drunk,” oikawa sighed, dragging him to the nearest bar, “i’m so sorry.”
oikawa was practically sobbing while iwaizumi remained a husk.
–
you didn’t remember how you got home but somehow you did, whether that was by stumbling home or begging strangers for a ride, at least you knew you made it home safely. you slowly sat up in your apartment, welcoming the bright sunshine that peeked through the blinds.
you groaned, putting your hand to your forehead, “god, how much did i drink?”
you got out of bed slowly, bare feet touching the cold wooden floor, it was only then you realized you were in pajamas. panic began to settle in and you rushed out of your room, afraid you might see that your apartment was robbed, or worse, the robber was still inside your building.
instead, you were met with the smell of bacon, sizzling loudly on the stove. something about this smelt so familiar.
“oh, you’re awake,” he spoke calmly, like this wasn’t a big deal.
“iwaizumi?” you asked, blinking, “am i- am i having a nightmare?” your hands shook slightly as you rubbed your tired eyes, only to still see him standing there in your kitchen, shirtless.
his face flushed with red, his heart was beating against his ribcage at the sight of you.
“um- anyway- where’s- uh, where’s toru?” you asked, looking around your apartment, your mess from last night had been cleaned up.
“he went to the airport to pick up my luggage since it arrived late, he didn’t want you to be alone so he sacrificed me.”
you laughed at that statement, “i’m assuming you cleaned?”
“yeah,” he trailed off, his hand reaching to scratch the back of his neck, his biceps making your eyes pop out of your skull, “couldn’t kill you to clean y/n.”
“yeah but the-”
“but the mess fuels your creativity?” he scoffed, finishing your sentence, you blushed before sitting down at the table.
“um- i just want to ask, how did i- how did i get home and how did i change?” you gestured to your clothes, embarrassment washing over you.
this felt natural, you weren’t nervous, you weren’t angry, it felt– calm.
“well, want me to start with how you spam called me? then vomited all over me, and ordered toru and i to bring you home because- how did you say it?” he put a finger to his chin, “we should be devoted to you?”
you groaned, slamming your head down onto the table which only worsened your hangover, you heard the stove turn off before footsteps shuffled closer to you. iwaizumi gently lifted your head, setting a plate down on the table.
“here, is this still your favorite?” he asked, glancing down at the food.
“yeah it is, thank you,” you smiled, beginning to take small nibbles, you couldn’t help but feel slightly awkward. a thought crossed your mind before you dropped your fork down, startling iwaizumi, “shit my makeup!”
you bolted up from your seat, the chair creating a squeaking noise.
“oh- uh-” you halted as you watched iwaizumis face turn red again, “i cleaned it up for you.”
you sat down slowly trying to process everything happening, “are you sure i’m not dreaming?” you felt like this was some kind of messed up dream.
iwaizumi hajime was in your kitchen shirtless because you vomited on his only good shirt, he not only cleaned up your apartment and made breakfast, but he also washed your face for you while you were passed out drunk.
“i’m pretty sure it’s not a dream, more of a nightmare, this is really um-”
“awkward.” the two of you spoke at the same time, giving each other a small laugh.
you sat across from each other in a comfortable silence before iwaizumi sighed, he looked like he wanted to say something. you studied his face, he was tanner, it suited him, you never realized how dark his eyes were until now. his frame was bigger, he looked more confident, and he was definitely more muscular. his eyebrows twitched, whenever he wanted to say something but couldn’t, his eyebrows would twitch and he’d chew lightly on his cheek.
his jaw flexed as he stared down at his plate.
“iwaizumi,” you started, his head snapped up, “we’re both different now, i think it’s important to communicate, whatever you’re dying to say, you can say it now.”
“i want to be as delicate as i can about this,” iwaizumi started, “about- about five years ago-”
he was a stuttering mess, he wasn’t the best about communicating, never had been, but he could show what he meant through actions.
you briefly shut your eyes, the pain from the past instantly hitting you like a brick, like he’d just opened a healing wound.
“i should’ve communicated better and told you everything i wanted to say but couldn’t, i shouldn’t have given up, i couldn’t do long distance but- i don’t know it’s dumb,” he sighed, growing frustrated, losing sight of what he wanted to say.
he began to become lost in his obsessive thoughts, growing angrier with himself, and even more frustrated by how he couldn’t say what he wanted to. he felt a soft pat on his hand and looked up to see you leaning on the table, hand placed on his.
his gaze softened, his heart was aching, but, it wasn’t just about him, you were hurting too and he had to give you the closure you deserved. he had to consider your feelings too.
“y/n, no matter where i’m at, i always see you and i regret every day what i did,” he shut his eyes before looking into yours, “i said those things to you because i figured if i hurt you, it would be easier for you to move on and accept i’m going overseas, i would’ve struggled with long distance, i won’t lie to you, but i should’ve been open about that and i should’ve told you that i love you.”
your eyes widened, you felt like your heart had just been ripped out and now it wasn’t yours anymore. like iwaizumi, had ripped it out a long time ago, and now he’d come to return it.
“i wish you would’ve told me all those things back then, it hurt me, honestly, when i saw you i wanted to scream and cry but, we’re older now,” you gave him a small smile, “i wanted to fight for us, but you gave up before i even had the chance, why’s that?”
“i was a stupid teenager,” he almost shrugged but stopped himself, choosing to sit up instead, “back then i was too focused on how it made me feel and i didn’t want to be away from you, as messed up as it was, at the end of the day we both had time to grow and find ourselves.”
you opened your mouth to speak but the door to your apartment slammed open, the loud sound of oikawa struggling to drag two suitcases in interrupting you.
“so iwa, did that girlfriend of yours pack bricks into your suitcase or what?” your brother laughed, before his expression dropped–along with yours, as you ripped your hand away.
your heart sank, as you got up ignoring the protests from iwaizumi as you made your way into your room, locking the door. you couldn’t understand why you felt so upset about it and you couldn’t explain why you felt like your heart just shattered. it was fine, he’s your ex, he’s allowed to move on.
you groaned into your pillow, “doesn’t make it hurt less though.”
you rolled over, grabbing your phone and clicked on kuroos message, which you hadn’t responded to yet.
you
no worries :) maybe another time then
you rolled around in bed, trying to get comfy but you couldn’t seem to find a good spot, you huffed sitting up quickly.
“why do i care anyway? i’m a grown woman, i can meet people too, i should’ve known that,” you talked to yourself, strutting to your closet. you reached for your phone again, searching through your contacts.
you
hey! you’re going to the reunion right? are you down to
meet at my apartment?
you began to get dressed, waiting for an answer, when your phone buzzed you launched onto your bed, a smile making its way to your face.
kyo
yeah, i’ll be there in thirty, can you send your address?
we can get something to eat maybe? i’ll pay.
you smiled at the response before sending your address to him and continuing to get ready.
–
“iwa i’m so sorry-” oikawa started, eyeing the uneaten plate across from iwaizumi.
“what now shittykawa?” iwaizumi sat there annoyed, his breakfast already gone since he’d been eating as a way to not talk to oikawa.
“i didn’t mean to! i didn’t know she was awake or that you guys were making up- dude i’m serious,” oikawa looked at him desperately before beginning to pout.
“you’re so shitty, and you sent me those pictures,” iwaizumi pointed out, groaning, “yeah how she deals with you i’ll never know.”
“i’d never purposefully hurt my sister, but now shes locked up in her room and you’re mad at me, so i’m trying to fix things with you before i go in there and try to talk to her,” oikawa sighed, sitting down in the seat across from iwaizumi, where you were previously sat.
“‘kawa maybe you’re just-”
your door slowly opened, catching the attention of both boys, you were adjusting the bag on your shoulder and shutting your room light off before you finally turned to look at the boys.
“where do you think you’re going?” oikawa questioned, glancing at your outfit.
“i’m- um, going out,” you smiled, your phone buzzed, “sorry ‘kawa one sec, hello? oh, yeah you can, you don’t have to ask,” you laughed.
both boys raised a brow as a knock sounded at your door.
you rushed to answer it, opening the door before throwing yourself at whoever was on the other side of the door.
“kyo!” you exclaimed, wrapping your arms around him while he slowly wrapped his around you.
“y/n,” he smiled, tightening his grip on you as he pulled you into a tight hug, “i haven’t seen you in forever, you never visit anymore.”
you frowned, pulling away, “i would but i’ve been busy, how’s your mom doing?”
“good, she misses you though, says ya need to visit more,” you grinned at him, his hair was still that bumblebee blonde, eyes still as intense as ever, and yet his face looked relaxed.
oikawa and iwaizumi got up and stood at the doorway, faces scrunching up at the sight. you pulled away before waving goodbye to the two.
“kyotani!” oikawa yelled, you turned along with kyotani, “have her home by eight o’clock, not a minute more,” his voice dropped low, his gaze sharpening.
kyotani nodded before lifting his arm up to say goodbye.
the two of you walked in awkward silence not sure what to say or how to even start a conversation.
“so-” you spoke at the same time, allowing yourselves to let out a light laugh, you motioned for him to go first.
“so are you and iwaizumi…” he trailed off, not sure if he should even be asking that.
“oh no,” you shook your head, “he’s here with ‘kawa for the reunion i guess, he’s staying in a hotel.”
“ah i see, and what were you trying to say?” you noticed how kyotanis shoulders relaxed.
“oh i was just wondering how you’re doing, anything new?”
he thought for a moment before shaking his head, “not really, still playing with sendai frogs, those guys are crazy.”
he laughed a bit before tapping his chin with his finger, “other than that, nothing new that you don’t already know about.” “well what about that girl you said you liked? last time i called you, you talked about it,” you blinked at him while the two of you crossed the street.
his face heated up, red creeping up his neck, “o-oh- um, well i figured it wasn’t going to work out, so that’s a no go.”
you rose an eyebrow, “why’s that?”
“just- uh-” he glanced around nervously, refusing to make eye contact with you, worried, you rested a hand on his shoulder.
“kyo you don’t have to talk about it, i shouldn’t have brought it up, i’m sorry.”
he tensed up, his face getting redder, “oh its fine, don’t worry about it y/n, oh here’s the cafe you wanted to try right? lets go there.”
he rushed towards the store, his hands in his pockets, you rose an eyebrow but followed behind him. trying to catch up as best as you could.
“what do you want to try? it’s on me so get whatever you want,” he smiled softly, but it looked more like someone was holding him at gunpoint.
“oh okay, i’ll just get this, and this,” you pointed to a few dessert items before kyotani ordered for the two of you.
eventually you sat down at a table, putting a table marker at the corner, waiting for your food to arrive.
“are you okay?” you asked, trying to be as careful as possible.
“huh? yeah why?”
“i don’t know you just started acting a bit strange earlier, did i say something wrong?” you tilted your head a bit and he copied your actions unknowingly.
“oh, i was just embarrassed, try not to look into it too much,” he cleared his throat, sitting up straight.
“oh alright then, if you say so,” despite still being suspicious you accepted his answer not wanting to press further.
“y/n,” he started, he looked like he was going to say something serious but decided against it, “what have you been up to besides college?”
“oh! well, nothing much just staying home, i made a new friend-ish, i was kind of interested in him but there’s just a few red flags.”
kyotani let out a small laugh, propping his arm up and leaning his chin on his fist, “and those are?”
“well, we were supposed to go on- i think a date? yesterday, he was waiting outside then all of a sudden he texted me that he had to leave because he was tired.”
this made kyotani sit up, suddenly adopting a serious expression, he already didn’t like whoever this guy was.
“you should drop him, that sounds suspicious, has he texted you back?” he asked, face scrunching up in anger.
“oh my gosh no, kyo don’t get mad, but no he hasn’t,” you sighed, showing him your phone. this was normal for the two of you, kyotani had always been there for you ever since high school. post-highschool you’d usually make a trip down to visit family and see him, there you’d usually catch up and talk about everything. you usually never brought up guys, there were a few here and there you thought about but none worth pursuing.
he was your best friend and you were his.
“that’s not okay, who is he?” you knew if you answered kyotani would go out of his way to find kuroo and yell at him.
“kyo it’s not that big of a deal,” you tried to reason with him, but his canines were ready to tear up his next victim.
kentaro kyotani wasn’t the nicest, he didn’t have an interest in other people, or school for that matter. the day you became manager, he almost rolled his eyes at how syrupy sweet you seemed at first. but, he’d never forget how when he almost failed a class and almost got kicked off the team, you ran through the entire school just to find him and kick him in the head, lecturing that if he didn’t pass he’d have to face your wrath forever.
something changed in him that day. kentaro kyotani wasn’t the nicest, but he was nice to you and he would forever be loyal to you, like a rottweiler is with its owner. give him a command and he’d do it without skipping a beat.
you weren’t scared of him and you didn’t call him mad dog like the rest of your classmates, you just called him kyotani.
“y/n, you know i’ll listen, just let me know if this guy hurts you.”
you nodded and gave him a smile as your food arrived, he watched a smile grow on your face knowing you loved to eat. he watched as you took numerous photos of your food before cutting it up into shareable portions and shoving a plate in front of him.
kyotani watched as you began to eat your portions, you seemed happy and content.
his chest ached whenever he saw you with iwaizumi, even back then he selfishly wished you’d turn and choose him.
he sighed, picking up his fork and taking bites out of the desserts you picked.
when you mentioned the girl he liked, he was referring to you, he’d liked you since the day you kicked him. but, watching you now and seeing how much you’ve grown, only now he realized he only adored how amazing you were.
to pick yourself up from what happened, holding your head high despite everything, and even now, you’re grinning ear to ear while eating a cake, that takes strength. and there’s nothing more that kentaro kyotani admires more than strength.
you looked up at him, mouth full of food, and smiled with your eyes. he returned it with a small grin.
“thank you for being my friend y/n,” he stated out of the blue, you swallowed your food and nodded.
“it’s no problem, your moms a little late on her payment though,” you teased, lightly kicking his foot from under the table.
he laughed, shaking his head, “no really, thank you, you never called me that stupid nickname either, i really owe you a lot.”
your gaze softened as you smiled, “kyotani, whats up?”
he almost breathed a sigh of relief, you knew him way too well, “i have something to admit.”
you began to feel anxious praying it wasn’t a confession.
“remember when you asked about the girl i liked? well, i was talking about you-” he noticed how your face fell and how you slowly lowered the fork, “this isn’t a confession!” he spoke a little too loudly and sat back embarrassed. “how do i say this? i realized that it was more that i just admired your strength,”
you rose an eyebrow but let him continue.
“you’re able to look at things so positively and still hold your head up high, i’ve always admired that and i confused it for something else, i just really want to tell you that, i’m so glad you’re my best friend and that i look up to you.”
your eyes widened, shining with tears as you reached across the table to hold his hands, “thank you for telling me kyo, i know that was definitely not in your comfort zone.”
he immediately shook his head before laughing a bit, “yeah i’ll never say something that nice again.”
“i don’t expect you to bud,” you patted his hands gently, “but honestly i’m glad you didn’t confess or anything.”
“no nothing like that,” he shook his head, feeling like a weight had been lifted off his chest, “but there is someone i’ve been talking to.”
you sat up immediately, “tell me everything!”
–
“hey crappykawa, i have something to tell you,” iwaizumi spoke up, they’d been sitting in silence ever since you left.
“do you think she’s getting into trouble right now?” oikawa paced around the apartment with his mind racing to all kinds of places.
“‘kawa-”
“oh my god what if he murders her?!” he panicked, clasping his hands and mentally praying for you. he’d never gotten the chance to know kyotani, he’s rarely home, and when he is he doesn’t go out of his way to meet his sisters friends.
“kawa!” iwaizumi yelled, slamming his palm down onto the dining table, “can you listen?”
oikawa snapped out of his trance, looking at iwaizumi, “what!”
“i overheard something weird last night, about that kuroo guy that was waiting for y/n,” iwaizumi started.
oikawa blinked before slowly making his way over to the table, “weird? what’d you hear?”
–
“no no no don’t get her that, she might think you’re creepy, just get her these,” you sat beside kyotani pointing at bouquets on his phone. he was hopeless, his hands were shaking at the thought of giving a girl flowers.
“you sure? okay but she seems more like a lilies kind of person-”
“okay then get her those.” “oh wait no no i take that back, maybe yellow carnations?”
you jumped up immediately, “no! absolutely not those are horrible to give to a girl, you’ll definitely get rejected!” you ripped the phone out of his hand and scrolled through the list before clicking on one and pressing ‘buy now.’
“which one?” he asked, anxiously, reaching for the phone.
“white tulips and pink lilies, it’s kind of basic but if you’re gonna ask her out and you’re not sure if she likes you back, this is a pretty safe option,” you concluded, handing the phone back to him.
“oh okay.”
“that’s it? no thank you y/n you’re the best!” you boasted, “anyway, is she shy or extroverted?”
“anyone is shy compared to you,” he grimaced, practically growling at you, “but yes she’s shy.”
“aww, the bad boy and shy girl? maybe i should write a story about that,” you teased, poking his shoulder.
“please don’t, i actually might end you.”
“welcome in!” the cafe worker yelled, as the bell chimed.
“thank you,” a familiar voice greeted.
your head snapped up, eyes widening at the sight.

the next few days were a blur for you, spent waiting for a text that never came. you wandered through your apartment, phone set down on the coffee table. it’d been only three days. three. and he still hadn’t messaged you.
you had to leave for school soon but decided you wanted to leave a few minutes later just in case you saw kuroo on your way there.
just as you were about to reach for your phone, your ringtone started blaring, and someone began to knock on the door. surprised, you swiped to answer it before making your way to the front door.
“thank you,” a familiar voice greeted.
your head snapped up, eyes widening at the sight.

iwaizumi hajime (31) atheletic trainer who's now your husband and father of your child
cw. smut, explicit sexual content, breeding kink, possessiveness, dirty talk, rough sex, strength play, mating press.
sequel to this
dating iwaizumi hajime has turned into a full, chaotic, and perfect marriage—he’s 31 now, terrifyingly strict with the national volleyball team, and yet the most tender, doting husband at home. you’ve built a life together with a three-year-old daughter who keeps both of you on your toes—and has made iwaizumi’s possessiveness toward you even more intense.
mornings are soft and domestic—shirtless iwaizumi flips pancakes in the kitchen while your daughter climbs onto a chair to “help,” tiny hands patting his cheek and giggles filling the room. he hums low as he works, occasionally glancing at you with a fond smile, like he can’t believe he gets to spend his life with the two of you.
the home gym has become a family space—your daughter tries to copy everything you do, stretching or folding into wobbly yoga poses while you guide her, and iwaizumi chuckles quietly from the side, proud and entertained. he gently adjusts your posture during light workouts, hands lingering a little longer than necessary, teasingly possessive under the guise of coaching.
he still never pushes you too hard—your workouts are gentle, short, and playful, mostly to keep you active and healthy. he encourages your daughter’s movement too, whispering little praises while sneaking in soft kisses or playful nudges at you. the three of you together create a cozy, loving rhythm: yoga, stretches, and giggles filling the gym.
sex now happens only when the house is empty—usually when your parents or his parents take your daughter for a day or two. when it’s just the two of you, iwaizumi is unrestrained and possessive, indulging fully in his breeding kink.
he pulls you into the gym or bedroom, pressing you down onto benches or the yoga mat, hips pressing into yours with full strength. every thrust is deliberate, deep, and overwhelming, making you gasp and tremble beneath him.
he grips your waist, lifting and adjusting you mid-thrust, murmuring filthy praises: “so tight…so wet…all mine, baby…mine to fuck.”
his hands roam across your body while he fucks you, squeezing your hips, tracing your back, and teasing your breasts, making your body arch instinctively toward him.
he loves dirty, possessive whispers while he pounds you, dragging your face to the side of his shoulder, pressing his lips to your neck, and groaning your name like it’s the only thing he wants to say.
he shows off his strength, picking you up and spinning you over onto the bed without breaking rhythm, cock still buried deep, thrusting into you with full force, hips snapping harshly against yours.
favorite position is still mating press—he folds you in half, pressing your chest to the mattress, holding your arms above your head as he drills into you, watching your toes curl, your back arch, and your lips part for him.
he loves hearing you moan around him, telling you how perfect you feel, how he can fill you so completely, and how you’re his in every way.
when he knows you’re close, he grabs your jaw or presses a hand over your chest, forcing you to meet his gaze as he murmurs, “cum on my cock, baby…only mine.”
he doesn’t let you come alone—drags it out, thrusting deep, teasing, whispering filthy praises and ownership, until your body is trembling, overstimulated, and completely his.
after he’s done, he collapses beside you, still glancing down at you with that soft, satisfied smile, brushing damp hair from your face, murmuring, “so good…so perfect…my girl…my wife…”
afterward, he cradles you like he did your daughter as a baby, kisses along your shoulders and neck, whispering soft praise while you both catch your breath.
iwaizumi balances life as a trainer, husband, and father—commanding and strict at work, playful and doting at home, and completely possessive in private moments, showing that he can be all sides of himself and make them work seamlessly together.
as a father, he’s everything you knew he would be—firm when needed, endlessly patient, and completely soft for your daughter. he melts when she runs into his arms after practice, scooping her up like she’s the only thing that matters in the world. he reads her bedtime stories in a low, soothing voice, even doing silly voices to make her giggle, and sometimes you catch him asleep beside her crib, still in his work clothes, too tired to move but unwilling to leave her side.
as a husband, he’s fiercely devoted—always making sure you feel loved, protected, and cared for. he checks in on you throughout the day with texts, sneaks you quick kisses in the kitchen while dinner cooks, and holds you close at night when exhaustion hits him hardest. no matter how stressful work gets, he never lets you doubt his love or his attention.
balancing his role as japan’s athletic trainer with family life isn’t easy, but he manages it with grit and dedication—strict, no-nonsense iwaizumi at the training facility, and gentle, soft hajime at home. he sets boundaries clearly: work stays at work, and when he steps through the door, he’s yours and your daughter’s completely.
he takes pride in being able to do it all—guiding the best athletes in the country, being the father his daughter can always run to, and the husband who never stops cherishing you.
the mix of domestic fluff with your daughter and unrestrained, filthy intimacy when alone makes life with iwaizumi full, messy, and perfect—strong, loving, tender, and completely his.
iwaizumi hajime, at 31, is proof that he can carry the weight of the world in his hands and still come home to hold his family just as carefully—balancing discipline and devotion, strength and softness, until the life you’ve built together feels unshakable.

and really what could you say, you gave it a try– you both gave it a try.
it’s been years since then, trying to recall everything that happened only provides a headache for you. college kept you busy, not that you constantly thought about iwaizumi, the truth is you’d moved on from what happened. choosing to accept that it wasn’t meant to be and it was nothing more than a teenage romance.
cars rushed past you at the stoplight, the force of the wind was strong enough to make you stumble slightly as you fiercely typed a message out on your phone.
“godd, do i need to spell it out for him? the answer is clearly A,” you talked to yourself, you got distracted waiting for the crosswalk light to turn on and ended up messaging back your classmate.
“who’s him?”
you didn’t even notice someone was beside you.
“my classmate, for a project- uh, he just, one sec,” you continued typing a paragraph out, watching the three dots show up for a few seconds before disappearing again, “he just doesn’t understand what i’m trying to explain, he has the wrong answer and i- sorry you’re a complete stranger i shouldn’t be talking about this.”
you turned to look at the individual beside you, he stood a little bit too close.
“i’d hate to be that guy then,” he grinned, he was pretty charming.
you shot him a smile before laughing awkwardly, “yeah, i’m sorry for complaining to you, oh- i’m y/n by the way.” you held your hand out for him to shake but he stood there analyzing your hand for a few seconds before gently holding it in his palm.
his hands were slightly rough, still soft, but they definitely had a story to tell, plus they were huge. you shook hands before you gave him a funny look.
“you going to introduce yourself or?”
“oh!” his face flushed a slight pink, “i’m kuroo, kuroo tetsurou.”
you hummed before taking a good look at him, hair spiked up, white button up with a red and white tie, with a gray blazer perfectly hugging his broad shoulders.
“makes sense.”
“what’s that?” he asked, glancing up he noticed the crosswalk light turn on and motioned for the two of you to continue your way forward.
“you kind of look like a cat, like the one from alice in wonderland,” you stifled a laugh as you quickly made your way across the street. you hated walking through crosswalks, preferring to run or do an awkward combo of walking and running.
“are you referring to my name? everyone always says that,” he asked, the corner of his lips curving into a small smirk, “and are you always in a rush like that?”
“yes i’m referring to your name- and no i’m not always in a rush, sometimes i mix it up a bit and walk-run,” you said it proudly but it felt a bit corny coming out of your mouth.
“someones gotta learn to take her time,” he laughed, hand curling into a fist to cover his smile, “ever tried just walking?”
“no, never, only someone strange would do that,” you smiled back at him, ignoring the constant buzzing coming from your phone.
“referring to me?”
“you ask a lot of questions, kuroo tetsurou,”
“just trying to know you more,” he shrugged, it was only then you noticed how well his suit defined his arms.
“and why’s that, kuroo tetsurou?” you asked, rolling your eyes slightly.
“well look who’s asking the important questions,” he grinned, pearly whites almost blinding you, “and i’ve seen you walking this way for a while, always wanted to start a conversation but you’re glued to that phone, that’s bad for your eye sight you know.”
“wow are you a doctor?” you pretended to be shocked, “and yeah i take this way to school.”
“what school do you go to?”
“university of tokyo,” you smiled sheepishly like you’d just told him a secret.
“i go there too! i’m a senior,” his body turned to face you, his head tilting slightly, the sun caught his eyes for a brief second. his hazel eyes glowed like a cats in the night as he turned to look at you. “are you a senior?”
“i am,” you shook the growing adoration for him off, reaching to tuck your phone into your pocket. you watched his eyes dip down to watch, a small smile creeping onto his face as he quickly turned away, facing forward.
“lets hang out?” he almost winced, he meant to say it as a statement, wanting to seem confident and cool in front of you. but, it ended up coming out as a wimpy question, luckily, he was always quick on his feet. “unless, you think i’m too cool for you.”
walking in silence, you turned to look at each other before bursting out in laughter.
“was that an attempt at flirting?” you asked between laughs, you felt your face getting hotter the harder you laughed, squeezing your sides.
kuroo felt his sides aching, “i think so?” he couldn’t help but let out a loud laugh.
“that was really bad,” you wiped away a tear, covering your mouth to muffle a giggle, “but yeah sure, we can hang out” you teased.
“i don’t really flirt with girls at all, i mostly just give up,” he admitted, face red with embarrassment.
you looked at him from the corner of your eye before reaching for your phone and unlocking it, ignoring the paragraph written by your classmate, “here, i’ll let you ask me for my number, i GUESS.”
he chuckled, putting a hand to his heart, “oh wow thank you for this opportunity, y/n,” he cleared his throat before forcing a serious look onto his face.
“may i have your phone number please?”
you almost laughed at how he asked it, shy and full of nervousness, but it wasn’t every day you met a charming guy who also happened to have manners.
“yes you may, kuroo tetsurou,” you held out your phone, heart skipping a beat as he gently grabbed it from you, fingers brushing against yours.
“you know you can just call me kuroo?” he smiled, before reaching into his pocket, pulling out black glasses with thin metal frames.
holy shit. he was a nerd.
or maybe you were just stereotyping him.
“you need glasses?” you asked, refraining from freaking out as he slipped them onto his face effortlessly.
“yeah,” he breathed out, beginning to type your number onto his phone and squinting his eyes ever so slightly, the phone screen reflecting in his glasses. he turned his head towards you, “do they look bad?”
if he asked you that a few minutes ago you would’ve thought he was trying to flirt again but he was genuinely asking you, a hint of fear in his voice.
“no of course not, not that i’d judge though, if you need them to see why don’t you wear them more often?” you asked.
kuroo thought for a moment before answering, “when i was in high school, a few girls told me i looked too nerdy and that i shouldn’t wear them.”
your heart dropped, “that’s actually evil, im sorry.”
“don’t be, i had bigger things to worry about in high school than that, but i guess i still thought about it subconsciously,” he shrugged, handing your phone back.
you felt your phone buzz.
unknown number
hey, its kuroo :)
the two of you continued to walk together for a bit longer before going separate ways, once you got to your class you sat down, dragging your notebook out of your backpack before plopping your pencil case down onto the desk.
it was quiet in the classroom for once, despite how often your phone buzzed, your classmate must not be there yet.
“so today really is a good day,” you said to yourself, flipping your notebook open.
“well well well!” a loud voice yelled, that phrase sent shivers down your spine, an all too familiar phrase really.
“clearly i spoke too soon,” you mumbled, eyes rolling back.
“y/n! i wasn’t going to show up today but i’m going to prove you wrong!” he yelled, throwing his bag down onto the seat next to you.
“tanaka you know, it’s really not that serious,” you took a deep breath, “i’m here for actual college, you’re just here because you failed this class, moved to tokyo, and got surprised when you were required to retake it, and of all places, you chose my school!”
“you’re so much more grumpy now that you’re old,” he grumbled, aggressively writing something down in his notebook.
“the correct sentence is C, see?” he held up the notebook.
C. your the only person i know here
“you’re joking right?” you asked, “i feel so bad for kiyoko right now, that’s the wrong you’re tanaka.”
“she said she loves me just the way i am!” he exclaimed, crossing his arms proudly before opening one eye to look at you sideways.
“sure whatever dude, just stop spamming my phone,” you laughed, shaking your head.
“alright class, hope you did your homework last night, i have good news and bad news, good news is we got a TA, finally, and bad news is, your papers will be graded late since he has a lot of papers to go through,” your professor stood at the front of the class, motioning the TA to walk in.
you looked down at your phone, deleting the notifications from tanakas spam texting session earlier.
“hi im kuroo tetsurou, email me whenever, i’m open to homework questions,” kuroo smiled, despite introducing himself to the class, his eyes were trained on only one person.
your head snapped up in surprise, your eyes meeting his cat-like ones.
there you go y/n, he thought, the corner of his mouth tugging into a cheshire grin.
kuroo was just as surprised as you were but of course he had to play it cool, he’d already slipped up earlier. you smiled at him from your desk, something about you intrigued him, so much so he ended up ‘accidentally’ walking the same route as you to school. no matter how many days he tried to memorize your route, you always split up a couple blocks away from the school, so he figured he’d never actually see you on campus since your classes might just be on different ends of campus.
you didn’t make much eye contact in class, busy talking to tanaka, or actually focusing on the assignment. kuroo couldn’t help but peak up at you from his desk, watching you slightly tug at your hair every time tanaka got on your nerves.
when class ended, students rushed out but you took your time packing your things up while tanaka talked your ear off.
“do you ever stop talking?” kuroo asked, standing beside tanakas desk.
tanakas head reeled back, looking at whoever had the audacity to talk to him like that, you sat there eyes wide while your body was getting ready to flee the scene just in case a fight broke out. suddenly, tanaka stood up, the desk creating a loud noise in the now empty room.
“eh?! it’s you! the rooster head captain!” he exclaimed, “didn’t go pro?” tanaka egged, nudging kuroo with his elbow. kuroo rolled his eyes before taking a step back, hands shoving tanakas elbow away.
“yeah whatever, hows string bean doing?” he smiled.
you felt awkward just sitting there listening to their conversation so you quietly got up, pushed your chair in, and headed down the stairs to go towards the exit.
“y/n, where ya goin?!” tanaka yelled, moving his body to see past kuroos body, kuroo turned around quickly, an almost panicked expression on his face.
“going home tanaka, tell kiyoko i said i miss her!” you yelled, waving goodbye before stepping out of the classroom.
tanaka nodded and turned to speak to kuroo again but kuroo was already halfway gone, “hey! city boy!” he yelled.
kuroo stopped for a second, turning to face him, “yes?”
“ya like her?” tanaka asked, completely oblivious to the fact kuroo might not want to share that. kuroos face flushed with red.
that was all tanaka needed.
“don’t mess around with her,” hands in his pockets, he strutted down the stairs before standing right in front of kuroo, “seriously, she’s one in a million, never had a kinder friend than her, don’t hurt her.”
kuroo stood amazed, he’d never seen tanaka serious for more than a few seconds unless they were playing against each other.
“got it, thanks.”
they nodded to each other before going their separate ways.
kuroo desperately tried to find you inside the building until he remembered you said you were going home. he headed outside and walked down the path he took this morning, finding you walking slowly.
“toru- no seriously listen to me- NO, do not give her that oh my god, you’re gonna be single forever,” he heard you sigh, watching from a few feet away how you ran a hand through your hair.
“y/n!” he exclaimed, you turned slowly, the phone held up to your ear before a small smile made its way to your face.
“hey toru, gotta go- no! hes not! oh my god.” you gritted out, frantically pressing the end call button, “well hello kuroo tetsurou.”
kuroo smiled, “sorry about that i didn’t know you were on the phone, about earlier, i meant to talk to you but i knew that guy from high school-”
“it’s alright! i know him too so don’t worry, want to walk with me?” you asked, kuroo nodded and walked beside you.
“so you know him? he’s not the annoying classmate is he,” he joked, but laughed when you actually nodded.
“i’ve known him since high school, our schools were basically rivals, in volleyball at least,” you admitted, kuroo jumped up a bit.
“were you on the volleyball team? from which school?”
“oh uh no, i was a manager for the boys team at aoba johsai,” you gave him a half hearted laugh, “i tried playing volleyball but my brother kind of sucked the fun out of it, he was captain of the team.”
kuroo nodded, “you’re toru oikawas sister,” he covered his mouth in disbelief, “oh my god.”
“yeah i am- wait what why, what have you heard?” you panicked, looking around as if you could feel your brothers presence.
“i’ve met him a couple times, he’s- he’s definitely a character,” he joked, carefully, hoping he wouldn’t accidentally upset you.
“oh definitely, imagine how i feel, we’re literally twins, it’s a horrible day every time i’m reminded of that,” you groaned, “but i didn’t really interact with our team, for some reason i got really close with the other teams.”
“oh really? which ones?” kuroo looked at you, watching how your hair shined in the setting sun.
“karasuno, mainly because i went to school with kageyama, but i grew to like everyone on the team since they practiced against us a lot, not a team but i met akaashi keiji once and i adore him, shiratorizawa for obvious reasons, our schools are rivals but tendou is my best friend and i love to piss my brother off.”
“holy shit, you’ve been around,” he laughed, “i didn’t know managers got to meet so many people.”
“obviously,” you scoffed, “what do you think we do while sweaty ass boys play volleyball for five hours? anyway, i’m assuming you played?”
kuroo nodded, a fond smile reaching his face as if he was reliving memories, “i was captain of the nekoma team.”
it felt bittersweet saying that.
was.
“do you wanna listen to music?” he asked, holding out an earbud, you nodded.
“you better have good music taste.”
how can you mend a broken heart : al green
the two of you walked in silence for a moment before you glanced at him, “ever thought of wireless earbuds?” you joked.
kuroo smiled before shaking his head slightly, “i’m nostalgic, i miss the past.”
“do you miss volleyball?” you asked carefully.
“those were really good times, i enjoyed playing, never thought i’d try to go pro but, i still wanted to be involved with volleyball, but here i am.” he shrugged, a feeling of sadness surging through him. he felt a gentle pressure on his arm, looking down he saw your hand resting there, a sorrowful expression on your face.
“maybe you could teach people how to play, you know maybe coach a team or something.” you suggested, letting your hand fall to your side.
something in kuroo changed that evening.
he felt hopeful for the first time in a long time.
“i hadn’t thought of that,” he nodded along with the thought, “i’ll seriously consider that, it’s better than being a chemist.”
“the sky is the limit right?” your face lit up, “we should always go for our dreams.”
“always. it’d be silly not to when we’re this young and have so much time on our hands, your brother sure went after his dream,” he laughed.
“i know! that jerk, i want to go to brazil,” you whined, mentally cursing oikawa.
“y/n oikawa, interesting name,” kuroo commented, you laughed before shaking your head in disagreement.
“kawas made such a name for himself that our last name just sounds like his first name,” you rolled your eyes, “plus our older sister doesn’t come around often since she’s married, so i thinking i should try changing last names.”
“i get it, trust me, mines not around often either,” he admitted, by now the song was coming to its end and the sun had set.
summer nights were always the best for taking long walks, it was warm, and it felt endless. the stars weren’t as bright in tokyo, the city lights and atmosphere covering them with a blanket.
“so what made you approach me today, couldn’t possibly have been by chance,” you wondered, voice shaking slightly due to nerves while the headphone wire softly clinked against your earrings.
“i’ve seen you around, not on campus, just walking to campus,” he spoke like it wasn’t anything big, “i thought you looked cool and i don’t know, just wanted to talk to you.”
“i’m glad you did,” you smiled at him, his face dusted with pink that was barely visible in the night.
“yeah, me too mini oikawa.”
“oohhh, you really want a right hook right now don’t you?” you joked, lightly tapping your fist into your palm.
“no no ma’am i don’t want any smoke thank you very much,” kuroo breathed out, his arm brushed against yours, nerves got the best of both of you and you split apart like two magnets, causing your side of the headphones to fall against his side.
it felt increasingly difficult to find things to talk about that would result in a longer conversation, but he seemed fine with the silence. you continued walking until you reached an apartment complex.
“uh- well, this is me, so, goodnight,” you shot him a nervous smile before you turned to walk up the stairs to the lounge door.
kuroo nodded, turning to walk away, the feeling of disappointment flashed through you before you quickly shrugged it off. walking up the stairs, you reached for the door handle, pulling the door open.
“y/n wait!” kuroo exclaimed, the two of you spinning back quickly.
“yes?” you answered, straightening your back and fixing the bag straps on your shoulder.
“can we do this again some time?” he asked, looking up at you, “walk together i mean, or- like literally anything else outside of school.”
you smiled before nodding, “yes, yes we can kuroo tetsurou, it’s the weekend so, maybe something soon?”
he nodded before waving goodbye and disappearing in the night.
from your apartment you had a pretty good view of the city, one of your favorite things to do was sit in the windowsill and people watch. it was intimate, creating stories for people you’ve never met before. you watched young high school couples walk together, breathing a sigh you changed your focus to the sky.
“is it alright for me to move on now?” you asked, leaning your head against the warm glass, staring at the cloudy skies.
you wondered what the sky looked like in other countries, was it this cloudy? were the stars this dim or were they a bit brighter in a place that didn’t have as much bustle. what was it like in california?
as soon as that question crossed your mind you shot out of the windowsill, beginning to pace your apartment, picking up any sort of mess until it was spotless.
–
on the other side of the world, toru oikawa made a very risky phone call, not the kind you’d think. beside him were a group of girls, on either side of his couch, he’d just gone through yet another breakup and couldn’t help but party.
as the phone continued to ring, his eyes rolled back, pressing the dial button again and again until eventually the line picked up.
“you realize it’s three in the morning?” the voice was ragged, sounded like he’d just woken up.
“yeah sorry, it’s only eleven here, forgot about the time difference, listen i have news.”
“oh please do tell, please justify the reason you woke me up, i have an exam in four hours,” annoyed but curious, that was how oikawa would describe this conversation.
“she’s found someone else, iwa,” his voice was blunt, face remaining neutral as one of the girls stroked his arm.
iwaizumi was silent on the other end, thinking about what to say in return.
“and you’re telling me because? it’s been years shittykawa.”
“i told you, if she ever found someone else, i’d be the first person to rub it in your face.”
“yea? and hows that going for ya,” iwaizumi spoke sarcastically, toru could practically hear the scoff that was about to come next. he never noticed how iwaizumi had developed a sort of western accent until now.
“great actually, feels great, never thought i’d do this to you though, you’ve been in california for too long.”
iwaizumi thought for a few minutes, the static on the phone growing louder the longer he took to respond. he’d just woken up, sitting up in bed while his hair stuck to his forehead, he looked to his side. his shirt was tossed onto the floor, a pair of legs shifted in his bed, softly kicking his legs. iwaizumi glanced at the girl laying beside him before briefly shutting his no longer tired eyes.
“is she happy?” he asked, quietly.
he heard oikawas loud laugh on the other end, “are YOU happy?” his friend asked, he could hear the girls in the background, loud phonk music playing.
clearly oikawa was wasted, he wasn’t supposed to say anything, but, of course knowing him, he still did.
“that’s debatable,” iwaizumi answered, looking back at the sleeping girl beside him, a classmate of his that he’d been dating for a couple months now, “is she happy?”
“i’d like to think so, the way he was yelling her name and how she sounded trying to hang up on me, i think they really like each other.”
something about that absolutely tore iwaizumi apart, he’d long abandoned his position as a stone pillar. california had become his playground with his side hobby of being a college student.
“don’t get all quiet on me now iwa-chan, i’m pretty happy for her, this is her first time dating since you guys broke up.”
iwaizumis ears perked up, now there was something he didn’t know. “really?” he asked partly in disbelief but also out of relief that you hadn’t dated anyone, not that he could say the same anyway, but he was still glad nonetheless.
“yeah, not sure if they’re dating though, think they just like each other, anyway, you coming home for summer break because i am,” oikawa yawned on the other end before he quietly shushed one of the girls beside him.
“yeah i was planning on just visiting family though,” the more iwaizumi thought about it, the more he wanted to interrupt whatever nice moment it was that you were having, he missed you, as horrible as that was.
“well the reunions next week, i know you’re going to that, bring your girlfriend, fly her out here,” oikawa suggested, but iwaizumi really didn’t want to bring her, this was his break from her. “besides, you’ll be here for two months, i’ll keep you company of course.”
iwaizumi sighed but nodded as if oikawa could see him, “alright sounds good, see you in a couple days.”
he looked out the window beside his bed, the night sky looking back at him, he could see the sun faintly in the distance, waiting to rise. iwaizumi wondered what the sky in tokyo looked like tonight. were you looking at the sky at the same time?
did you miss him the way he missed you? the way he craved you every second of the day. the way that when he realized he no longer possessed the letters you wrote to him, he’d flip his entire room upside down searching for something that doesn’t exist anymore. the way he’d sob into his hands while he sat in the middle of his apartment mourning the loss of your warmth.
california was a beautiful state, filled with heat and waves, but it wouldn’t ever hold a candle to your light.
were you thinking of him too?

and really what could you say, you gave it a try– you both gave it a try.
it’s been years since then, trying to recall everything that happened only provides a headache for you. college kept you busy, not that you constantly thought about iwaizumi, the truth is you’d moved on from what happened. choosing to accept that it wasn’t meant to be and it was nothing more than a teenage romance.
cars rushed past you at the stoplight, the force of the wind was strong enough to make you stumble slightly as you fiercely typed a message out on your phone.
“don’t be, i had bigger things to worry about in high school than that, but i guess i still thought about it subconsciously,” he shrugged, handing your phone back.
you felt your phone buzz.

it felt bittersweet saying that.
“besides, you’ll be here for two months, i’ll keep you company of course.”
iwaizumi sighed but nodded as if oikawa could see him, “alright sounds good, see you in a couple days.”
he looked out the window beside his bed, the night sky looking back at him, he could see the sun faintly in the distance, waiting to rise. iwaizumi wondered what the sky in tokyo looked like tonight. were you looking at the sky at the same time?
did you miss him the way he missed you? the way he craved you every second of the day. the way that when he realized he no longer possessed the letters you wrote to him, he’d flip his entire room upside down searching for something that doesn’t exist anymore. the way he’d sob into his hands while he sat in the middle of his apartment mourning the loss of your warmth.
california was a beautiful state, filled with heat and waves, but it wouldn’t ever hold a candle to your light.
were you thinking of him too?

hajime iwaizumi was a strong pillar who couldn’t be moved, he was a tough kid, the fastest on the playground. when a transfer student stood in front of his class, thirteen year old hajime iwaizumi shifted.
you bothered him constantly, launching erasers at his head, and poking his shoulder constantly (which he hated, but, he didn’t mind).
he replayed that memory in his mind almost every day, until years later, to which he smiled fondly while his hand stayed intertwined with yours. his brown eyes always seemed to light up whenever you showed your face.
“hajime are you listening?” you asked, peeking up at him, before he briefly let go of your hand. your warmth left him, leaving him feeling empty only for a split second before he reached for it again.
“i wasn’t im sorry, please explain again,” he apologized, hajime iwaizumi was a strong pillar, a man who couldn’t be moved, but when he saw your smile, he crumbled to pieces.
“well, i was thinking, since kawa still doesn’t have a girlfriend i thought i’d try setting him up with my friend.” you recapped, nodding your head in satisfaction of the idea.
“since when did you care what your brother goes through?” he laughed, eyes squeezing into crescent moons, “maybe its for the best he’s single, the idiot never knows what to do.”
“not nice!” you interjected, ripping your hand away, “i mean it’s true! but eventually i’d like a sister-in-law!”
your eyes shimmered at the thought your hopeless brother could ever stay with a woman for that long. after his last girlfriend you didn’t think he’d ever want to be serious with a girl again. the clouds in the sky opened up, letting the sun peak through. a gust of wind brushed against your cheek, the polaroid keychain on your purse clinking against the metal hook holding it.
“so, i know you don’t want to talk about it but can we?” iwaizumi spoke carefully like he was scared he might scare you off.
“hajime-“
“i know i know but i really want to, please?” he pleaded, his hands shook slightly, a nervous habit of his.
“i really want to go to tokyo university, i have a full ride there- and- and don’t get me wrong okay? i’m so happy for you that you got into UCI and that’s great but we both want to go to different schools,” you felt his hand pull away, finding a home in his coat pockets, “hajime please don’t do that-“
“i thought we were pretty serious about going there together? we both got in, i’ll support you if you want to go to tokyo uni- but i want to still be with you if anything happens.”
his statement caught you off guard.
“what do you mean you still want to be with me? are you implying we’re going to break up or something?” you tried to be rational, you did, and maybe a part of you agreed with him. but, you could feel your heart sinking, the cars zipping by making your anxiety worse, and by the look on his face, you knew the answer without him saying anything.
“y/n-“ he started, getting interrupted by the school bells.
shit you’re late.
“i’m sorry, i can’t be late, can we talk about this after school? please?” you pleaded, “i don’t want this to end, i know we can still work it out.”
iwaizumi let out a defeated sigh.
why? why would he think this way? you could tell he was already giving up, was the thought of long distance that daunting?
but the conversation never came.
“i mean sure! he’s in california and i’m- well here, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t work!” you explained, tying up the volleyball net.
you were at a volleyball practice match, and as manager of the team your frustrating boyfriend was on, it meant you’d HAVE to be there and see him. you tried talking to him but he would actively avoid talking to you or talking about college, when you’d text him, he wouldn’t even text back.
“i mean it’s childish, right?” you asked, huffing a strand of hair out of your face.
“y/n i could literally care less,” kageyama stated, tossing a volleyball to you.
“i hate talking to you,” you quipped, catching the ball and tossing it into the bin.
“you know i’m joking,” he started, eyes scanning the floor as if the floor would have the answers, “i think if you guys are meant to be it’ll work out.”
your face scrunched up in disappointment, “i appreciate it, but, it’s really the worst when people say that.”
“i agree, when people tell me i should do a different sport from volleyball-”
“different kind of thing kags,” you laughed, before looking up at the stands in the gymnasium, “really can’t believe this is my last year.”
“me neither, see you later” he gave a small smile before running off to find his teammates. aoba johsai wasn’t that big of a school, it wasn’t small, just big enough for you to be able to miss at least one person you don’t like.
“well, well, well!” a loud voice yelled, and yet the person who annoyed you the most just walked in, somehow managing to prove you wrong each time, “greet me!”
you turned in annoyance, “what now kawa, your match doesn’t start for another hour, your knees messed up anyway, you’re still gonna play?”
he nodded and shot you a big grin, “indeed i am, i’m just so brave,” he flailed his arms around dramatically before his face became stone cold.
“by the way, heard you and iwa are going through it, don’t screw it up twinnie,” you almost laughed, while oikawa only stared back at you.
you hated when he called you twinnie, a silly nickname that was created when you were kids, toothless grins running around a playground.
“i’m serious, you might be my sister but you took the risk dating my best friend,” he tilted his chin up proudly, you knew he was joking but it still ticked you off, and the current situation wasn’t helping.
“so he can talk to you but he can’t talk to me?” you asked angrily, shoving the bin carrying the volleyballs to the side before walking to the benches by the court, picking up your clipboard.
“y/n- oh come on! i mean- you know him,” he protested, “just give him time to cool off, he’ll come back when he’s ready.”
you whipped your head back, “it’s been a week kawa, how much more time does he need? we should be talking these things out but it feels like he’s already over it, that’s not my fault, it’s his.”
“y/n i know, but try to understa-”
“no because you know what? im genuinely done trying to understand, he wanted to talk about it, and yet he still had the audacity to say ‘oh well if we break up we can figure it out’ like hello?!” you threw your hand up before looking down at the clipboard and checking a couple boxes off on it.
“okay, valid, but he didn’t say that, did he? he meant that in the event that it could happen, he’d want to work it out and stay together,” you couldn’t help but plainly stare back at your brother. he pouted before shooting you a glare, “fine don’t listen to me, not like i was born first or anything.”
“yeah and mom definitely dropped you because i don’t understand how you can’t see why this is more upsetting for me, i got into my dream school kawa, you of all people know this,” he nodded at you, “he got into his dream school and i supported that! i was fine with long distance, sure theres a time difference but we had a plan and everything,” you sighed, your hand reaching to tug at your hair out of frustration.
“but you also got into his dream school, i’m sure he saw an opportunity to still stay together and go to the same school,” you knew he was just trying to reason with you, but everything was beginning to pile up.
“hey shittykawa, you can’t just not help us unload stuff from-” iwaizumi halted as soon as he got into the gymnasium as a migraine began to make its way into your brain.
“oh great, iwa-chan! wanna help me out here and explain to my dear dear sister as to why-”
“i’d rather not,” iwaizumi spoke quickly, his eyes bore into yours, not a shred of happiness behind them.
“oh so you can talk to toru but not me?” you didn’t even mean to ask it, it slipped out of your mouth before you could even think of a kinder way to say it.
looking at iwaizumi you wouldn’t have even guessed that the two of you were dating, just judging from the way you were looking at each other. by now students had already started to crowd the stands, leaning against the railing, a few aoba johsai players, and the karasuno team that waited on their side of the court.
“yeah and you know what? it was actually nice,” you could tell he was angry, but you couldn’t even begin to understand why he’d be angry.
“why’s that? i’m the one dating you, you brought it up, and then you talked about how if anything happened you’d want to stay together, i mean who says that?” you felt your throat burn, wanting to cry but holding it together for the sake of everyone else here.
“i understand you had concerns, but, breaking up never even crossed my mind, i thought we’d be able to work past that, i understand long distance is daunting, but- i love you and i want this to work, but i just need you to talk to me, communicate with me, don’t ignore me,” your voice didn’t go higher than a mere whisper as you pleaded. your boyfriend didn’t crack a smile or attempt to reach for your hand, he didn’t comfort you. he was never like this unless you two had a very gnarly argument and that didn’t happen often, however, the topic of college was very sensitive for the two of you.
“this is exactly why i talk to your brother,” he started, cheeks dusted with red, a unique trait he had, reserved only for when he was truly pissed off.
your eyebrow twitched, after all that, your entire speech and more he still won’t clarify anything? the gym lights were becoming nauseating, your head was pounding. students chattered amongst themselves while the opposing team spoke a bit too loudly.
the home team walked into the gym, throwing their bags onto the floor before stretching their arms out.
“why did you give up?” you asked, vision becoming fuzzy as your migraine worsened, your stomach felt like it was sinking.
a spiral began to grow in your stomach, gutting you of everything you ever wanted, your heart was betraying you. you continued to tell yourself to stay strong, be prepared for his answer, be open mind-
“when you applied to tokyo university.”
your eyes slammed shut, the room began to feel eerily quiet. you felt like a fish that had just been caught and lured in, gutted and cleaned up to be eaten.
“and why is it so bad to talk to me? i understand needing to vent to someone else, but we were supposed to talk, its been a week-”
“oikawas not selfish.”
your eyes weren’t the only ones that widened, people nearby, just passing through, and your brother all stared in shock.
“iwaizumi, that’s enough-” oikawa started, looking between the two of you.
“we had a plan, we were supposed to stay together, but you- you are so selfish,” he gritted out those words like they were hurting him instead of you.
you felt like barbed wire was being wrapped around your throat.
“can we talk about this outside?” you asked meekly, fingernails digging into the wooden clipboard.
“you wanted to talk so bad, y/n, so we’re talking,” he spoke harshly.
“iwaizumi don’t make a scene.” your brother stated, wanting to move this elsewhere.
you barely heard him.
the world was ringing around you, a flatline droning on and on in your mind while you tried to process everything that was happening.
“so is that it? you’re just giving up?” you asked, hugging the clipboard to your chest, you saw his face falter. you mentally begged him to not be the stone cold pillar, begged him to be the man you’d come to love, to be the man he was just for you.
he shrugged his shoulders, “seems like we never had a chance anyway.”
your mouth opened a bit, words wanting to spill out– tears, wanting to spill out.
hold it together. hold it together.
but your lips quivered, “do you love me?” it came out more as a plea than a question. he shrugged again, turning his face away from you, you missed the look of regret and hurt that flashed through his eyes, “that’s probably debatable now.”
“screw you, hajime,” you sucked in a breath before shoving the clipboard down onto the bench and shoving past him.
toru oikawa was speechless for the first time in his life, “so that couldn’t have happened outside?” he attempted to raise his best friends spirits but as a brother he was angry. “really?” he shoved iwaizumis shoulder, the boy could only look down at his feet, afraid that if he looked up at oikawa he might cry in front of everyone, “you love her and yet your plan was to hurt her so badly she’d stop loving you? are you an idiot?”
iwaizumi let out a bitter chuckle before shrugging his shoulders, “it worked didn’t it?”
“no of course it didn’t,” oikawa huffed, “guess who’s gonna have to console her later? at this point, i hope she finds someone else, and when she does, i’ll be the first person to rub it in your selfish face.”
iwaizumi looked oikawa in the eye, a stupid grin plastering onto his face, “you really are shitty.”
storming out of the gym felt like the ground was quicksand and each step you took further away was sinking you. still, you didn’t let any tears fall, afraid if anyone saw you in this state you’d break down and you wouldn’t be able to pick yourself up.
“y/n? where the hell are you going?”
you glanced back at kyotani who stood at the entrance of the gymnasium with a look only he could describe as concern, but to you it looked more like you pissed him off somehow. deep down you know he’s actually pretty nice- sometimes.
you took a deep breath before forcing a smile, “i quit,” shrugging your shoulders you began to walk away but were stopped when footsteps rushed towards you, grabbing your arm.
“why?” he asked, a confused look on his face, “if you quit, we don’t have a manager anymore, isn’t iwaizumi going to be mad?”
your heart ached as you ripped your arm away, tears beginning to brim at the edge of your eyelids. you walked away without saying anything, deciding he didn’t really need to know anything, and you didn’t want to talk to anyone anymore.
you felt bad. you weren’t close with the entire team, but there were a few like kyotani, watari, and kindaichi who were able to break through the ‘professional’ personality you had with the others.
“kyotani! get your ass in here!” iwaizumi barked from inside the gym, clearly in a bad mood, but the boy could only stand there silently watching your figure disappear in the distance.
“coming,” he mumbled, shaking off the feeling of unease.
the match was a mess, iwaizumi would spike the ball 10x harder than usual, giving off a more intense presence than kyotani. despite oikawas efforts, he couldn’t seem to get him to cool off. karasuno was ahead by two points, only adding fuel to iwaizumis growing fire. the boy usually didn’t have much of a temper, but when he did get mad he rode it out, it would take a few days before he even began to calm down. once the practice match finished, oikawa reached for iwaizumis collar, dragging him outside.
“what the hell is your problem?” iwaizumi groaned, fixing his jersey.
“no, whats YOUR problem? you need to calm down, or at least talk it out, whatever will get you out of this funk.”
iwaizumi sighed, sitting on the ground next to the building while oikawa towered over him.
“i can’t do long distance and i should’ve told her that, i want to make it work and i should’ve told her that, i felt lost and i do love her and-”
“you should’ve told her that?” oikawa interrupted, feeling pressure building up in his forehead, “you’re seriously giving me a headache.”
iwaizumi could only shrug, wiping his chin with his jersey, “i did what i did because, i was too afraid, and maybe if she hated me it would feel easier but, it doesn’t and i fucked up, don’t even know where to go from here.”
“well, i’d say try to get her back but considering you basically broke up with her in front of everyone, said some fucked up things, AND didn’t even tell her you loved her, even i wouldn’t get back with you iwa,” oikawa admitted, running a hand through his hair before resting it on his nape, “was that the first time she said she loved you?”
“no,” iwaizumi answered shaking his head, “i uh- we haven’t really- well, i haven’t really said it back.” oikawa gave him a funny look to which iwaizumi immediately protested, “i told her when she first said it that i wasn’t ready to say it back- we were kids! but, from then on she just, i guess, never expected me to say it back.”
“yeah this is your first relationship and it shows,” kawa judged, wiping his eyes as if it’d get rid of the anger bubbling up, “shit, i didn’t realize your relationship was struggling this bad, as your friend i want to say you should try again, but as her brother, don’t. leave her alone.”
the boy nodded, regret beginning to consume him, “don’t see how she’d forgive me anyhow.”
iwaizumis phone buzzed, his heart raced as a notification with your name popped up, “she texted me!” he yelled, shooting up off the ground.
oikawas eyes widened before he reached for iwaizumis phone, “don’t look at it! wait- or do! but i wanna see!”
“you’re so annoying,” iwaizummi laughed, clicking on the notification which immediately wiped the grin off his face, “shit.”
“oh yeah, you really fucked up now,” of course oikawa had to put his own input out there, hand on his chin as he read the small paragraph you’d sent.

⌗ summary: you grew up with toji fushiguro, toji is toxic and doesn't pay too much attention to you despite being family friends. your senior year you decide you're gonna move on and eventually fall in love with nanami kento. toji does everything he can to ruin your relationship and eventually manipulates you into being with him. in the future, ten years later, you become unhappy, figure out some secrets, and eventually irish goodbye him to start a new life.
content: toxic relationships, manipulation, angst, cheating, tojixreader, nanamixreader, parent!reader, deadbeat!toji, parent!nanami, child!megumi.
you fell in love with toji fushiguro at a young age, there wasn’t a time where you didn’t think of him and only him. from kindergarten all the way up to high school you loved him unconditionally but he never showed a shred of reciprocation. to him, you were the annoying girl who had followed him around basically his entire life.
the winter before your third year of high school you began to realize maybe you should have more self respect, just move on, let him be. after all, he never glanced in your way unless you were at the usual family friend dinner. you decided this time it would be different, you wouldn’t storm at him before school, you wouldn’t whine and complain to him during the day, and you wouldn’t trail behind him after school while the sun set along with his patience for you.
you walked your usual route, it was inevitable you’d pass by him, but you kept your earbuds in humming along to the tune not even noticing you already walked past him. you left him shocked, not showing it on his face, but he breathed a sigh of relief.
still, he shoved the baked bread into his bag, the one he usually packed for you since he figured you’d be hungry.
a tall figure ran past him as he took a step, attempting to catch up to you, he stalled as he watched the figure run up to you, handing you a chocolate donut, your favorite.
confused but a bit relieved he didn’t have to deal with you, toji trailed behind the two of you all the way to school. for someone as smart as you, you sure acted dumb, maybe it was because you were in love. toji watched you walk into your classroom, typically this is where you’d pout and beg him to get his grades up, but not today. he shook the feeling off as he walked to the opposite end of the hallway.
“alright class, it’s your last year, lets make this one count!” the teacher exclaimed.
–
soon enough the sports festival preparations began, each class had to team up.
the top class, your class, would be holding the committee meetings this year instead of the student council since they were busy calculating costs and trying to contact other schools.
“okay everyone, give me all you’ve got!” you yelled, sitting down at the front desk, arms crossed while almost immediately student after student screamed requests at you. you’d think someone would get overwhelmed but you? you were a goddamn powerhouse, writing every single request at a record breaking speed, it’s part of what made you the GOAT of your school. top student, top marks, top extracurriculars.
and yet, someone like you, chased after toji fushiguro day and night, sure he was good looking but you were out of that mans league, a baddie AND powerhouse.
you sighed as you neatly stacked the numerous papers, not even breaking a sweat. you glanced at the boy next to you, “you! higuruma! you will review these papers, have them done by the end of the day, and don’t be stingy, just be-” you cut yourself off to put a finger to your chin, thinking about how to finish your sentence, “just be open minded,” you winked. he sighed, nodding before shooting you a thumbs up.
“y/n~” a voice called, teasing you, you looked up with a smile growing on your face.
“shoko!” you ran to hug her, she’d been sick this past week but your nightly calls and updates never ceased, and she adored you for that.
“heyyy, you have a visitor waiting for you- two actually, but pick a side before you go into the hall, left or right.” she advised, your eyebrows perked up but you nodded anyway. “okay, i’ll choose right! because, i’m never wrong,” you shrugged, joking of course, it drew out a groan from shoko who called you a cornball, “that’s not nice! higuruma agrees with me! right hiromi?” you turned slightly, shooting him a grin, he blushed before going back to analyzing the papers.
shoko began to push you towards the door urging you to pick a side even though you already did.
you didn’t look towards the left side at all, being serious when you chose right, it surprised shoko, but most of all, it surprised toji who stared at your back. you were face to face with nanami kento, he’d met up with you earlier today.
“y/n, let’s have lunch, are you ready?” he asked cooly, nanami was also a top student, he had a bright future ahead of him, with the two of you together it was just powerhouse city.
you nodded, holding up a bag with the donut he got you, “is that all you’re having?” he asked while the two of you began to walk down the hall.
“mm well i forgot my lunch-”
“again?”
“yeah! haha, so i guess i’ll just have this,” you smiled, holding your hands behind your back, nanami smiled softly at you, a smile he reserved just for you.
after all, he pined after you too, watching you hopelessly throw yourself at a jerk like toji broke his heart, but when you messaged him asking to be closer friends, he knew that was long gone. it’d be okay right? toji dated numerous girls and at the end of the day, nanami was always there to pick up the pieces of you broken by that scrub.
“i’ll share my lunch with you, i made extra,”
your eyes lit up as the two of you interlocked arms, rounding the corner, and out of tojis sight. shoko joined him, crossing her arms at the sight.
“you know i really thought she’d choose left,” she shrugged, shooting him a nasty grin, “serves you right though, douchebag.”
shoko had watched you yearn for far too long, after all she’s the one who introduced you to him on the playground. he’d been bullying her and you were the only one who could stop him- and eventually, you were the only one who could soften the rough edges, not that he’d let you close to him, to him, you’d always be a bother.
the two of them watched you and nanami converse from the classroom window, toji wondered what you could possibly be laughing and smiling about. the smile you’d shown him constantly over the years, the smile he wanted to be his only.
it didn’t take long for the boy to wonder why he felt this way, matter of fact, it started bothering him to see you actively avoid him.
“y/n, toji is here!” your mother yelled, she sighed before pointing up the stairs, “toji, she’s in her room, won’t come out, but you can go ahead and go on up.”
the boy nodded, for the first time in his life he was nervous.
he knocked on the door, he did.
no one answered.
he knocked again and it sounded like there was a thud on the other side.
you’ve never had a boyfriend before- and trust me he’d know- so it couldn’t possibly be-
his eyes widened as he heard you whisper, “go! go hurry!”
“y/n?!” he exclaimed, twisting the doorknob, only to find you panting and rushing to cover your window, a panicked expression on your face.
“t-toji?” you stammered, desperately trying to catch your breath but the scene said it all, your school uniform was disheveled, the top button unbuttoned, hair stuck to your face, and your usually neat lip gloss was smeared off to the side.
not to mention he also saw a tuft a blonde hair quickly lowering from the window.
“y/n what the hell!” he yelled, emotions taking over, when he heard your parents calling he quickly covered it up, “its nothing she just jumped on me is all!”
you heard your mom giggle before going back outside to join his parents.
“what the hell are you doing here?!” you questioned, pulling him into your room and slamming the door behind you. you noticed his eyes flicker to the window and you quickly ran to shut it, catching a glimpse of nanami, who stood blowing you a small kiss before booking his ass out of there.
“i should be asking you that, what the hell are you doing sneaking that boy into your room?” he adopted an authoritative tone, crossing his arms while he cornered you.
you rolled your eyes, “it’s not a big deal, nothing happened just- just please don’t tell my parents, i mean i haven’t snitched on you for all the shit you’ve done!”
his face twisted, “since when did ya start cussing? think you’re the shit now?”
“toji if you’re here to just insult me you can show yourself out.”
“sure, i’ll leave by window too, maybe catch the asshole that was in here,”
that was all it took for you to shove him, landing on your bed, “don’t even think about it, you have no right! none! nada! no right! what’s your problem anyway? huh? sad i’m not annoying you anymore or something?! because we both know that’s true!” you raised your voice sarcastically.
you saw a flicker of hurt flash through his face but he covered it up with a sly grin, “yeah, as if anyone would find you attractive bumpkin.”
your expression dropped, tears threatening to fall and toji knew he shouldn’t have said that, he knew he messed up bad, but he was too far gone.
“what did i hurt your feelings, y/n?” he sat up on your bed, reaching to grab for your hand and you allowed him to tug you closer to him. the way he said your name used to make your heart flutter, but now, you were different.
you let him toy with you, get it out toji, get all of the words you’ve been meaning to say out.
“you’ve pined after me all these years, countless confessions, they don’t mean anything to me. you, don’t mean anything to me.” his words cut you, but you knew he was only saying that, you could feel how his hand shook.
if it meant nothing to him, he wouldn’t have spent nights tapping on your window after he’d made you cry again, just to hold you in his lap while he pet your head.
“all of it?” your voice quiet, “you done now?”
he chuckled, “i’m really just getting-”
a loud slap echoed through the room, your hand stinging with heat.
-
at school everyone clowned on him, thinking he got rejected by a girl, which- he kind of did in a sense? he walked around school a grim look on his face as he passed by you and nanami.
“did you do that?” he heard nanami ask you, it made him stall for a bit.
“who? me?” you asked innocently, faking a smile.
toji scoffed to himself, you’d never be your true self around anyone but him. only toji knew just how fucked up you were, deep down, you were like him.
“attagirl,” nanami chuckled before the two of you continued walking.
“filthy pathetic pigs,” toji breathed under his breath.
-
toji swore he wouldn’t do it again, he wouldn’t mess with a guy that liked you, he knew it was wrong but he’s been doing it since you were kids. he backed nanami up into a corner, showing an old picture of you and him on his phone.
“think she would want you?” he asked, but nanamis expression never changed, “this was her just yesterday.”
nanamis body stiffened.
gotcha.
after that day nanami refused to talk to you, eventually he told you he was impossibly busy and didn’t have the time to form a romantic relationship.
ten years later, only he could realize how much of a mistake that was, leaving you alone, defenseless, all because he got insecure. sure, he did eventually get swept up into scholarships, internships, and work. working himself to the bone.
but ten years was too long.
way too long to leave you with that man.
–
you sighed, work was exhausting today but seeing your sons face was all worth it in the end. he ran up to you, ready to tell you about his day. he looked just like his father. it almost hurt, but he was still your child nonetheless and you loved him.
you prayed when he gets older that, he’d be nothing like his father, but you knew, that’d never happen.
–
when high school ended and you graduated with high marks, scholarships, and so much potential. you stupidly fell back in love with toji fushiguro. after you found out what he did to nanami you couldn’t find it in your heart to forgive him.
that was until he started showing up to your house every day, having flowers delivered to you at home or at work, patiently trying to win your heart back day by day. during your first date, which he planned, he admitted he’d always loved you but didn’t know how to show it because he was afraid, saying “i was stupid and immature, but y/n i hope you’ll give me a chance, i promise i’ll change.”
back then, you believed in promises, you believed everyone had some sort of good in them- even toji, and you ate up his every word.
it was a gamble, love, always a losing game but a risk you’d pay just in the slight chance you’d make it big.
you were promised an internship at a big start-up company, there, you briefly met nanami again and enjoyed a conversation of the past. but, regret and guilt flashed through his eyes and you could tell, whenever he buried himself in work, he was burying the memory of your tragic past. however, he remained in touch, messaging you every so often just to remind you he’s still here for you.
toji did end up changing, you’d bought a house together, coexisting peacefully while he showered you with gifts and kisses. but the greatest gift, for you at the time at least, was when he finally took you, became your first.
he was your first boyfriend after all, that’s what lovers do right?
you laid in bed, panting, toji was clearly experienced while he rolled off you, his seed beginning to spill out of you. his dark green eyes panned to you, smirking at the mess of you he’d made, he leaned down to kiss up your stomach to your chin.
you giggled then, replying, “toji that was what round five? aren’t you the slightest bit tired?”
he chuckled, before picking you up in his strong arms, an embrace you’d come to love.
“darlin’ this was just a warm up, don’t you know how much your husband loves you?”
oh, thats right, you got married.
a decision you came to regret not even a month after.
after that, he never showed any sexual or intimate interest in you again.
each day became more bleak, you figured he’d begin to treasure you more. soon, you found yourself blowing off your internship to meet him at his work, which, he told you never to go to. it was then that you found him cornering a beautiful woman at her cubicle, she was blushing as he set down a beautiful bouquet of flowers onto her desk. your eyes widened as you realized he wasn’t even wearing his wedding ring.
the womans eyes shifted elsewhere, tojis glance following only for his expression to change when he saw you there.
you ran away before he could follow you, not that he did anyway, he let you be and decided when he got home he’d just shoplift another store. he had no money.
every gift he got for you? stolen, from either a woman he cheated on you with or from a tiny local store.
you cried into your pillow until he got home, you pretended to be asleep while on the couch, thinking he’d carry you to bed like he used to, but he didn’t.
he continued to gamble your money away, money you worked for, you practically suffocated yourself on trying to fix his debts.
your heart began to ache and you couldn’t take it anymore, it wasn’t the first time you’ve seen him interact with another woman. since that night he deflowered you, you’d notice underwear around the house that wasn’t yours. your light began to dim, you smiled less.
one night you held up a positive pregnancy test, you suspected it, but then again you felt too hopeless. you lost your internship, your husband doesn’t even like you, and he’s cheating on you. but now you carried his child. when toji found out, you again, expected him to treasure you more but he didn’t. he stopped coming home. and eventually, you delivered the baby in the hospital alone, nurses held you as you cried hopelessly in their arms.
shoko showed up every day when you finally called her after years of not talking, she showed up, she treated you with kindness and gentleness, a feeling you’d forgotten over the years.
“that good for nothing bastard!” she yelled, slamming her fists on the table, “y/n you need to leave that relationship, where has he even been?”
“not sure, probably staying at some other persons house.” you shrugged, your baby cooed and your heart swelled. there really was light in this world after all.
“you can live with me!” she exclaimed, tears falling from her eyes, she didn’t cry often, “y/n it’s been ten years, i was your best friend for longer than that! i- i felt so hopeless these past ten years, wondering if you were even still alive.”
your eyes teared up for the 100th time that night.
“baby and all?” you smiled, she nodded before giving you a kiss on the forehead.
“baby and all y/n, my bright star.” that was her nickname for you growing up, you pulled her out of the darkness, and stupidly, she let you get pulled in by the darkness.
the day you were discharged from the hospital, you waited in shokos car, watching your soon to be ex-husband leave your old house with yet another woman. he looked around carefully, not used to you not being home.
when he left the two of you packed everyone you owned, which wasn’t much, after all, the house was never a home.
you irish goodbye’d him.
a year later you eventually, served him divorce papers, at first he fought back wanting to stay with you, until you admitted you’d rather forge his signature than listen to his bullshit, to which he tearfully signed all while you found it ironic.
and when you’d arrived in court, higuruma was the lawyer, he looked at you pitifully even though you won full custody as well.
“y/n you-”
“look different?” you asked, embarrassed you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, but he only shook his head, giving you a small smile.
“you look free, finally.”
you grinned at him, you hadn’t smiled like that in so long.
toji watched from the distance, watching the scene unfold, he hadn’t seen your smile in so long, and yes it was his fault. but something inside him, deep down, felt hurt, sad, and he felt a little jealous. but as his new woman ran up to him, throwing her arms around him, he felt nothing while his gaze focused on you and you only.
only then did he realize how much he truly fucked up, he never noticed your beauty before, not since you got married at least. but you never can cage a beautiful bird without it slowly growing depressed, especially if he was the one who owned it.
–
in present time, just four years after that day, you continued listening to your son ramble about his day, “oh and mom i met a boy named yuji! can we have a play date?”
you smiled at him before nodding, “but ask papa first okay?”
“momma! papa always says no!” your son grumbled, but he listened anyway despite letting you know he was still annoyed by stomping his feet.
the door began to open and your son wasted no time, “papa~!”
“mm?- oh, megumi, what is it?” your husband asked, scooping the boy up, the house began to lighten up as you brushed your hair back with your hand, “well if it isn’t my lovely wife,” he never got tired of saying that, “you must be exhausted, you sure you want to go to the reunion?”
you nodded, “yes for the millionth time, i want to go, also- i believe your son has a request, ken.”
nanami flashed a smile, he’d never get over hearing those words leaving your lips, you’ve been married for four years and yet he couldn’t stop feeling butterflies.
you gave him a kiss on the cheek and left to your shared room to get ready, megumis play date request drifting off into the distance.
since your divorce you hadn’t seen toji since, it was a gift from the universe for the past ten years, tonight wasn’t about him. you had numerous friends you wanted to see again, plus, shoko would be there so you’d have someone to talk shit with because lord knows your poor husband can’t remember any sort of gossip. you got your life started up again, raising a child was difficult, but you managed to get in contact with the start-up company which nanami was now running as the ceo. he provided you stability and safety, helped you raise your child until the two of you decided it was time to try again, you never looked back.
matter of fact your wedding was beautiful, full of love, and bright smiles. nanami never once pressured you to have another kid, in fact he was content with what you had. the thought did cross your mind once, but you decided one was enough.
your child was smart, it didn’t take long for him to figure out nanami wasn’t his dad, he’s aware he looks nothing like his papa, but he doesn’t mind it, figuring if the other wanted to he would, but what he has right now? he wouldn’t trade it for the world.
your five year old ran into your room, “mama, papa said it’s okay for a play date, will i be able to go tomorrow after i’ve finished homework?”
that’s how you really knew there wasn’t a dna test needed, that was definitely your kid, you nodded, putting earrings on.
–
the drive to the reunion was loud, megumi constantly asking for you to play fein, you seriously didn’t know how he knew that song but it was his favorite. your husband sighed before furiously tapping on the cars screen and playing fein AGAIN.
“kento… when will our suffering end,” you whined, squeezing his hand.
he sighed, shooting you a miserable look, “when he discovers some sort of other peak artist.”
you turn back to look at your son, “why couldn’t you discover like- malcolm todd or something?”
he only gave you a shrug, “yuji likes this song,”
of course, whatever yuji liked he liked too.
at the reunion everyone was serving drinks while their kids were banished to the kid table, shoko took numerous pictures of your son- or as she calls it our son. claiming she basically raised him too, which she did. it always brought a laugh out of your husband.
“are we waiting for anyone else?” shoko asked annoyed, she wanted to start drinking and eating but the old class president insisted that we wait till everyone arrives out of respect. “uptight loser never changed.” she whispered to you, to which you nodded sadly.
“you think he still wears the mickey mouse boxers?” you asked, the two of you breaking into a giggling mess.
“seriously!? that was one time!” he yelled, blushing as he rose up suddenly, “seriously, after all these years the two of you haven’t changed! how nanami deals with the two of you i will never understand!”
“aw prez don’t be mad! you know it’s so cute when you blush!” you and shoko waved him off, repeating a line you never grew tired of in high school. nanami could only sit back and watch in amusement, his son yelling at him to look at his play-doh creation.
he smiled before his eyes trailed to the door, a large shadow coming into view, toji fushiguro, with a woman slung on his arm like an accessory. he looked bothered by her.
when he walked in you didn’t even notice, too busy laughing at shokos joke to even care about who came in. nanami stiffened at your side and THAT caught your attention, not even noticing how toji and his new woman (a different one from last week) sat across from you.
“ken? you okay?” you asked concerned, your left hand reaching for his shoulder, your pink diamond ring glinting in the light of the room.
it almost shattered toji.
nanami huffed before turning to you, “huh? oh i was zoning out sorry my love, i think our son wanted to show you his um- dough thing?”
“you mean play-doh?” you asked, when it came to each other, it was like a racehorse with blinders, the two of you only looked at each other, loved each other, and that’s why your gaze never met tojis because truthfully, you didn’t even know he was there.
tojis expression sent a smirk to shokos face, “watch this douchebag,” she started, catching tojis attention, “megumi darling! auntie and mommy want to see your creation!”
the boy came running over, a toothy grin on his face. tojis expression dropped, kid looked just like him, yet, his smile was just like yours.
“auntie! i made yuji! my best-”
“your best friend we know kid!” shoko exclaimed, analyzing his creation, “you have some talent there kid, must be from mama and papa.” she glanced at the married couple, pride etched onto both of their faces, meanwhile tojis jaw was practically on the table.
“yeah, mama is the best and papa is super um-” he trailed off, you pulled him onto your lap, his gaze shifting to toji who stared at him intently.
“mama who’s the ugly bastard staring at me?” he deadpanned, now that personality of his, his quickness to make those remarks, was definitely not from you.
tojis body stiffened as your attention finally turned to him.
megumi knew damn well.
“megumi! you can’t call people that- ken? ken! this isn’t funny stop laughing!” you scolded, holding back a laugh yourself. your husband laughed into his hand while shoko didn’t attempt to hide it at all.
toji felt his heart swell as his child looked back at him with wide eyes, pointing at nanami before giving a thumbs up, then pointing right at toji before throwing his hand down into a thumbs down.
“damn scrub!”
“megumi! you’re not gonna be allowed to hang out with yuji!”
“oh, sorry mama.”
I want someone badly

You first met yuji itadori in your first year of high school, he wore a hoodie under his school uniform, hood pulled up over his head. At the entrance ceremony you passed by him several times, his pink hair intrigued you, did he dye it? The two of you were in the same class, assigned to sit next to one another, at first yuji had no interest in talking to you. He appeared bored with life.
But after he forgot his lunch one time, you offered it yours, telling him it was okay since you always took an extra lunch. Since then he’d bug you about making him another, leaning his arm on his desk to rest his head on his fist. His eyes always seemed to draw you in but who knows. Yuji seemed like a nice enough guy.
Since then the two of you only got closer, spending each day at school together.
“Hey y/n, are you free after school? Wanna go to an arcade?” he asked, his face was pink but went back to normal when your eyes met his.
You agreed to go to the arcade, spending the whole day playing games and laughing with yuji. The two of you stumbled upon a photo booth, running in almost immediately. He paid of course, he’d paid for everything that day. You smiled like you never had before, it was so easy to get along with him. He held up a rabbit ear headband and you held up a mickey mouse one.
“Wait y/n we have to match, be minnie mouse.” you didn’t notice how his face grew red as you turned around to grab the minnie ears.
“This one?” you asked, looking at the camera, “oh yuji! We look so cute oh my god!”
Three….
Two….
One…
Click!
The camera flashed as the two of you smiled brightly, leaning your heads towards each other, holding up a peace sign.
You took a total of four pictures, the second one was you guys making a silly face, the third one yuji had his arm wrapped around you and you looked at him with a red face, and the last one you wrapped your arms around yuji while he did a peace sign behind your head.
That was one of five times you hung outside of school together.
It was typically just you two, sure you had other friends, but your time was mostly spent together.
“y/n when is he going to ask you out?” your friend asked, shooting a glare at yuji who sat on the other side of the room glancing over at you occasionally.
“Ahh, uo-chan it’s nothing like that,” you waved it off, but couldn’t ignore the heart crawling up your neck. The blonde looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
“y/n it’s absolutely true!” tohru piped up, grabbing hold of your hands.
“It’s true, his waves becoming more chaotic when he looks at you,” hana looks at the pink haired boy, “which- he is now.”
“Guys it’s nothing like that really you’re reading too much into thi-”
“Hey, y/n can we talk?” yuji rubbed the back of his neck, putting his hand on the back of your chair, you nodded and left your friends to walk with him. Yuji led you to the courtyard, somewhat in the open, your friends were watching from the classroom window.
“What’s up?” you asked, heart racing faster, was this a confession?
“To be honest, my grandfather passed away. I’m going to be going to another school soon, you probably won’t see me again.” he spoke as if you were someone who bothered him.
“Oh, i’m so sorry yuji- are you okay?” his eyes widened, were you not upset with him?
The truth is that you were.
Did he not plan on keeping contact with you? Was he going to completely disappear? Did it not matter? The memories you two created and the endless amount of photos you had together, did it mean nothing to him?
“Oh- yeah i’m okay, uh- then, bye.” he raised his hand, walking away.
“Well hana-chan?? What did he say can you tell?” tohru asked, looking at her as they watched the scene unfold.
“His waves are sad, something bad happened but he’s more sad he has to leave her, and-” her gaze softened when she looked at you, “y/n’s waves are even worse.”
The girls frowned at the sight, watching you watch yuji walk away, his book bag thrown over his shoulder.
You didn’t see him after that and ignored the aching feeling in your chest, blocking his contact on your phone. He clearly didn’t want to remain in contact, so you wouldn’t bother him again. Months passed and seasons changed, it was a warm spring day, cherry blossom petals scattered the streets.
“Haha did you see yujis face?!” you heard a female voice yell, another voice laughed, a familiar voice.
“Yeah whatever!” he said.
Your head snapped, looking at them from a distance, the girl held her sides, yuji laughing in the middle, and a quieter boy next to him, a small smile on his face.
It took you months to get over your little crush on yuji, hiding all the photos you had of him in a box under your bed. He looked happy. But you couldn’t feel happy for him. He was wearing what looked to be a school uniform, if he was here, it meant he never truly left the city like he implied, he’s been here this whole time?
“Oh? Hey!” yuji yelled, waving his arm, he gestured for you to come over.
You didn’t want to. You really didn’t, your entire body wanted you to turn around and run away. But you found your feet disobeyed you, dragging you over.
You noticed how the smiles fell off of his friends.
Fuck.
“Hey, itadori.” you tried smiling, but it felt awkward, forced. The closer you got the more nervous you felt, watching the two stare you down.
A flicker of hurt and guilt flashed through his eyes, “this is my friend,” he introduced you, “and these are my friends from my new school, megumi fushiguro and nobara kugisaki!”
“Oh it’s nice to meet you both,” you greeted, you didn’t receive a reply from megumi but nobara shot you a big smile.
“Nice meeting you too!” she exclaimed.
You felt out of place, you wanted to give him some pathetic excuse and run away, yuji wrapped his arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer. You felt your face get hot, but why? He used to do this all the time. He lowered his head to look at you before smiling. “I have an idea, how about you come hang out with us? It’s been a while, y/n.”
The way he said your name and acted so casually made your chest tighten. How could he act like this was nothing? You hadn’t been in contact for days. “Well- if no one else minds then sure!”
The four of you walked in silence before nobara peaked to look at you, “hey y/n so how do you know yuji?”
“Oh- i met itadori at school- at his old school,” you smiled, “we were acquaintances."
Hurt made its way to yujis face but he tried to shrug it off.
“Lets go to the arcade!” nobara exclaimed, pointing at the building which was a couple blocks away.
“Sure!” yuji smiled, “lets race!”
Soon, he and nobara shot off in a race with each other, leaving megumi and you alone. It was awkward. “Do they always do that?” you asked, watching the two disappear down the road, megumi was silent at first, the cars making more noise than him.
“Yeah.” he stated, he seemed nervous around you.
“I’m sorry if it’s awkward being with me,” you started, his attention now fully on you, “i’m not close with itadori, but i’d like to get to know you guys.”
He smiled softly, “don’t try too hard, wanna race?”
Your heart beat faster, for the first time in a long time.
You nodded slowly before the boy began to take off, basically making you eat his dust but you laughed for the first time that evening nonetheless, chasing after him.
This time, you’d chase after a new boy.
The rest was history from there, you’d hang out with them more and even joined them on trips to shibuya and the beach. Nobara and you grew closer, going on multiple shopping trips with each other. You weren’t that close with megumi even though you wanted to be. He’d talked to you before but it was small, you had a suspicion he might’ve not liked you.
“Hey! It’s yujis birthday soon,” nobara started, “i’m going to buy some party supplies so you two wil have to figure out a present.”
You two? As in you and megumi? But you barely talked, how would you even figure out a present
It’s been a while since the day at the mall with megumi. Since that day, you felt a shift in your emotions, feeling happier when megumi actually showed up to hangouts. You two didn’t talk much, but you didn’t have to, he’d show he cared in small ways. You didn’t know that at the time.
It was the summer festival now, you went out with yuji and his friends every chance you got, but, things were different. Despite yujis efforts, you couldn’t bring yourself to reconnect and have a conversation with him alone. He could tell you’d avoid him and talk to nobara instead who took a liking to you. From someone elses perspective, it would’ve looked like you and nobara had known each other your whole life.
“y/n! Oh- is that what you’re wearing?” she asked, you were at her house wearing a shirt and pants, you didn’t have a kimono.
“Um- yeah pretty much,” you mumbled, becoming shy all of a sudden.
“Girl- let me help you, is that okay?” she smiled, you nodded and she immediately dragged you to her room.
–
Nobara let you get ready in her room, she’d already done your hair which was tied up with a beautiful red and gold hair pin, and your makeup. She waited outside with yuji and megumi who complained you were taking a long time to get ready.
The door to nobaras house opened, “is this okay?” a quiet voice asked.
You stepped out wearing a beautiful red kimono, geta (wood sandals) peaking out from underneath slightly.
Yujis face flushed with pink while megumi averted his eyes, nobara took notice and wrapped her arms around the boys’ shoulders.
“Aw doesn’t she look beautiful, boys?!” she exclaimed, reaching out for your hand which you took gratefully. The summer festival was full of people, you pushed past the crowd before finally reaching a food stand.
“Barbecue skewer?” nobara asked, holding one out, you nodded and munched on the meat, it was still hot.
It burnt your tongue, yuji watched as you chatted nobaras ear off, something you used to do with him.
Yuji turned to you, “y/n can-”
“Megumi!” you called, you didn’t hear yuji at all as you were already making your way towards megumi.
Yuji watched in silence, he wondered what you were saying to him, but something inside him snapped as he saw something flicker in megumis eyes. Adrenaline beginning to pump in his veins, yuji walked over, resting his hand on your shoulder.
Your body tensed, remembering the last time yuji did something like this. “y/n can we talk?” he asked, and it replayed that day all over again in your head. You bit the inside of your cheek, nodding, and waving goodbye to megumi who looked annoyed.
Not at you.
“What’s up?” you asked, it sent a shiver down your spine, it was like PTSD.
“I know why you’re upset but i’m trying hard to make up for i-”
“Yeah like how?” you interrupted, a lump forming in your throat.
“I- y/n,” his expression softened, “i want to be your best friend, i- i want to be closer to you than everyone else, please just let me make it up to you, i made so many mistakes, i couldn’t even begin to list them all.”
“No, do it.”
“Do what?” he asked.
“List your mistakes to me, please tell me what it is you think i’m upset about.” you were trying to keep your composure, the fireworks would be lit soon.
Nobara watched with megumi from a distance, noticing how your body became more and more tense.
Only megumi noticed how your hands shook slightly.
Yuji wasn’t able to list anything which only prompted more disappointment from you, you’ve been hanging out with them all this time and yet, you feel out of place all over again.
“Fine, i’ll do it for you,” your lips quivered, “you told me out of nowhere you were leaving, talking to me like i’ve been a bother to you this whole time, you made me think you just moved to a new city. And even after all that, you could’ve contacted me but- but you never did itadori.”
He winced, he missed when you called him yuji or when you would just smile at him instead of faking a small smile. He never failed to notice when your body tensed, when your eyes diverted from his, and when your eyes were on someone else. He wanted you back. He knew he messed up, he knew that.
“Itadori i-” your voice tore through his thoughts, “i liked you and i thought you felt the same, but- things changed, if we ever did try to be friends again, it wouldn’t be right now.”
He stood there, eyes wide at your confession, this whole time you felt the same he did.
“But- things changed.” what did that mean?
You began to walk away, quietly excusing yourself to nobara and megumi before disappearing in the crowd. He knew something was off the day he followed behind you and megumi, he figured it was over for him, but he watched you closely since then. It was only then when yuji understood what you meant by things changing as he watched megumi chase after you, something that surprised both him and nobara.
Nothing really changed between you and megumi, so he figured, maybe he had a chance. But watching megumi chase you, when he wouldn’t do that often for someone else, he felt his heart ache.
You crouched down on a path in the middle of the forest far away from the festival crowd, fireworks beginning to shoot off into the sky, your quiet sobs being masked by the loud boom. Tears clouded your vision as you attempted to look up at the fireworks, it was usually your favorite part of the festival but your body shook as sobs left your mouth.
You really wanted to keep it together in front of them, you felt embarrassed, and honestly you felt sad yuji didn’t even understand what he did that hurt you. You looked at the ground watching your tears fall into the dirt.
You felt a gentle hand on your back, forcing you to look up, embarrassed you turned the other way quickly trying to wipe your tears.
“Oh my god im so sorry, please go back and enjoy the fireworks,” your voice was groggy, but megumi didn’t judge you.
He tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear, before immediately retracting his hand back, truth be told he didn’t know why he chased after you, you hadn’t talked since the day at the mall.
“y/n, you asked me to watch the fireworks with you, here i am,” he spoke softly, you were still turned away from him.
“Yeah well obviously, it’s alright. you can go watch it with nobara, i’ll join you guys later,” you said quietly, your eyes were red.
Megumi sighed before helping you up, he held his arm around your shoulder, leading you down the path.
“You make it so difficult,” megumi mumbled, he didn’t think you heard and you figured he wouldn’t have wanted you to bring it up.
“What do i make difficult now?” you were frustrated, you broke out of his hold, storming off but he continued to chase you.
The shrine the festival was at was huge. You ran until you reached an area with a bridge, you ducked under it, sitting down in the dirt. You made a mental note to wash nobaras kimono later. The air was becoming more humid, you could smell the rain that was about to come down.
Megumi sighed before ducking under the bridge, squatting down in front of you, reaching for your hands which clutched your knees.
“y/n, it didn’t mean anything bad please don’t misunderstand me,” he spoke softly, you looked up at him.
You had to cut him some slack, but, things had been awkward between the two of you since the mall.
“Then what does it mean?” your voice was hoarse, you wanted to run away, wanted to cry, but you couldn’t.
“You make it difficult to not love you,” he smiled, cupping your chin, slowly pulling your face close to his. Your cheeks began to heat up, “and yes you heard that right,” his voice deepening, lowering into a whisper, “i love you.”

But after he forgot his lunch one time, you offered up yours, telling him it was okay since you always took an extra lunch.
“Ahh, uo-chan it’s nothing like that,” you waved it off, but couldn’t ignore the heat crawling up your neck. The blonde looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
“y/n it’s absolutely true!” tohru piped up, grabbing hold of your hands.
“It’s true, his waves become more chaotic when he looks at you,” hana looks at the pink haired boy, “which- he is now.”
But you barely talked, how would you even figure out a present
before you could even interject, nobara shoved cash into your hand before running off.
"guess it's just us now" you smiled awkwardly, glancing at megumi who stared after nobara.
did he like her?
for some reason that thought made your chest feel heavy. he caught you staring and looked at you plainly.
"do you know what to get him?" he asked, it was like he was bothered just by asking.
"o-oh yeah! i have an idea i think" you replied, turning around to face the shopping centers. you pointed to the large mall.
the two of you walked in silence as you browsed a few stores but you hadn't found anything you thought yuji might like. he would've been happy with anything, maybe a music album? you wanted to get him something special.
"hey, look," megumi pointed at a store, "maybe you could get him a stuffed animal or something, or a charm."
"maybe, i don't know i just want to get him something nice, you know?"
he nodded, "well you know best."
your stomach growled, you've been in the mall for hours.
"are you hungry?" he looked like he was about to laugh.
you nodded awkwardly.
"sorry, do you think we could eat something for a bit?" you asked.
he smiled for the first time and nodded.
it was strange. seeing him this way. he even bought you lunch instead of making you pay.
"i'm sorry we haven't talked much, i didn't want to be disrespectful to you and yuji" he stated.
your head jolted up, "disrespectful? how?"
"well don't you like him?"
the question caught you off guard.
"no of course not, yuji's my friend."
"oh, you're always together, that's why i thought that, sorry" he looked embarrassed.
"yeah well you could say the same about you and nobara!" you said that a little too loudly. embarrassment washed over you and you quickly got out of your seat.
"i think im just going to buy something later, i should get going, bye."
megumi sat there in shock as he watched you slowly walk away, maybe he shouldn't have asked that. but, your response made him smile to himself.
"excuse me? i saw you sitting alone and i was wondering if you were single?" a girl asked, clutching her phone.
megumi looked up, wiping the smile off his face. she seemed nice, but he looked in the direction that you stormed off in and thought about what to answer.
"yeah, no. i have a girlfriend, she just left" he replied, getting out of his seat and walking after you.
the girl frowned but it was too late to try and flirt with him. megumi had already disappeared from view.
he watched you from behind as you wandered around carelessly. many guys looked back at you or looked like they wanted to talk to you. it made him annoyed. you didn't look where you were going, focused on your phone. eventually he watched as you looked up and darted into a store.
barnes and noble?
he'd always noticed you. from the day he first met you, he felt a certain way towards you that he never felt for anyone else.
he noticed how when you smiled, the whole group smiled. times that felt hard or difficult, if he got to see even a glimpse of you, he'd feel happy. even if the only way he could see you was by looking into yujis room when he wasn't there. picture frames of you two, letters from you, and photos of you in yujis phone.
it was worth it for him, to stay so far away but yearn to be closer. he'd tried to ignore it, but he always ended up crawling back to you.
he never thought to act on his feelings, it would be dangerous. but loving you from a distance was enough for him. even if he had to watch you be with yuji.
he never did notice how while you smiled at yuji or nobara, your eyes drifted towards him. he was beautiful.
you wanted him so badly without knowing that he wanted you even more.
"it's too dangerous" he told himself, walking into barnes and noble. he'd watch you from a distance, like he always did.
however, he couldn't find you. he checked everywhere he thought you might be. worry began to settle in. where were you?
—
"so you don't have a boyfriend? a pretty little thing like you?"
his eyes darkened at the sight. you were pushed up against the wall. a strange man twisting a strand of your hair.
shakily you mustered up to courage to push against him.
"please leave me alone."
"why? it's just now getting good, we could go back to my pla-" one second he was forcing himself on you and the next he was wriggling on the floor in pain.
megumi stood with a worried look before he ran up to you, making sure to keep distance so he didn't make you feel uncomfortable.
you looked at him with tears in your eyes, shaky hands reaching for his arms.
he told himself he couldn't do it, that it was dangerous, but he wrapped his arms around you tightly.
"megumi i- i want to go home" you spoke so softly it broke his heart.
"let's go home."
the sun was already setting by the time you got out of the mall. you gripped onto the plastic bag containing yujis gift. walking silently besides megumi.
"it's not voluntarily" he spoke randomly.
"what's not?"
"hanging out with nobara."
huh? where was this coming from? you looked at him confused. he turned to you before shoving his hands into his coat pocket.
"you said you could say the same about nobara and i, it's not voluntarily i'm with her, sometimes it's because yuji makes plans and doesn't show up, or we're just all together."
he didn't know why he was explaining himself.
but you laughed and it brought a smile to his face.
"what? why would you explain that to me?" you asked, between laughs, "even so, i'm glad there isn't anything between you."
your response was shy but true. you've felt drawn to him ever since you first met.
"i'm glad there isn't anything between you and yuji."
his response shocked you.
"and why would that make you glad?"
"for the same reason you're glad."
you both smiled to yourselves as the distance between you two eventually closed and you walked shoulder to shoulder.
"sorry, yuji" nobara apologized, placing a hand on the boys shoulder.
yuji looking dejected, continued to walk a distance behind you and megumi.
he and nobara noticed you two leaving the mall together and thought to greet you, but nobara held him back sensing something was different.
all he could do was watch sadly, tightening his grip on his phone. his thumb grazed over the power button and the brightness of his screen caught his eye.
oh. that's right, he's really lost.
eventually his phone turned off, but the image of you as his lock screen stayed in his mind.
“take care of her megumi,” he mumbled, he meant it, but the grip on his phone tightened, bending the frame slightly.
—
It’s been a while since the day at the mall with megumi. Since that day, you felt a shift in your emotions, feeling happier when megumi actually showed up to hangouts. You two didn’t talk much, but you didn’t have to, he’d show he cared in small ways. You didn’t know that at the time.
It was the summer festival now, you went out with yuji and his friends every chance you got, but, things were different. Despite yujis efforts, you couldn’t bring yourself to reconnect and have a conversation with him alone. He could tell you’d avoid him and talk to nobara instead who took a liking to you. the ballroom was obnoxiously crowded as multiple multi-billionaire wannabes piled into the room one after another.
the bidding.
only the biggest event to happen once every year; where desperate girls drop at the feet of equally desperate guys.
you held your breath as the limo crawled to a stop, adjusting your sunglasses, and peering outside. multiple cameras had already begun to flash despite you still being in the car, turning to your father before he gave you a nod.
"look the door is opening!"
"y/n!! smile!!"
"mr. suguru over here! "
this is so tiring, you thought, sighing before stepping out and following your father, he who viewed you only as his most prized possession. he turned, smiling kindly, holding his hand out for you to grab. slowly, you took your sunglasses off, hooking your arm with your fathers before looking towards the paparazzi.
immediately the crowd roared and pushed each other to get a photo of the two, someone else might have felt overwhelmed but this was a common occurrence in your life, you’ve never known anything else, never had the chance to.
"lets go inside now, my love." geto whispered, leaning down slightly, you side eyed him as if saying we should've already done that. "don't give me that look, we'll have good seats still."
-
once the two of you entered the building the air reeked of expensive perfumes and colognes, as you got seated at a table towards the front it was all eyes on you. no one was embarrassed to look and frankly, neither of you were bothered by it whatsoever. the two of you ordered appetizers before loud screams were heard and that's when you knew; the fushiguros had arrived.
megumi fushiguro was the only child toji fushiguro had, much like you, he too grew up with just his dad. everyone knew megumi's father was involved in the darkest part of sorcery but no one dared to speak up on it. you watched as your father turned his head towards the commotion but what you didn't notice was his head slightly dipping into a subtle nod, signalling he knew mr.fushiguro on a more personal level.
"hey dad, isn't that the itadoris?" you asked in a low hushed tone before lifting your pointer finger, immediately noticing how your father tensed up. it wasn’t often that the itadoris attended these events.
"i- yes honey that is them, yes." he grimaced, the sugurus didn't have a healthy relationship with the itadoris.
one brother who had the top part of his hair dyed pink glanced over at your table, you stared back taking notice of the scar lying beneath the corner of his eye. he grinned, his sharp canines showing. there had been a rumor spread through girls who had close relationships with yuji itadori, one that made you question him just a little bit; yuji itadori liked to bite, and he bit hard to make a mark.
that rumor didn't phase you as much as the ones regarding yuji's identical twin brother, sukuna, who strode alongside him. he grinned with equally sharp teeth and multiple scars underneath his eyes. you liked to believe everyone was inherently good, but you’d never stick around long enough to know anyone personally outside of family, it's part of what made you feel so free and independent from this elite class world. you believed it was truly sukuna they spoke about, but just like mr. fushiguro, no one ever dared to even look sukuna in the eye, much less question him. news outlets always reported that out of both brothers, they were too afraid to ever submit anything about sukuna. while yuji was the face of their grandfathers company, it was assumed sukuna did everything else while hiding behind yujis shadow.
nonetheless, your father advised you to stay away from the brothers as they were the sugurus biggest rivals and were fierce and aggressive with business deals.
you tore your eyes away from the brothers not knowing their gaze lingered on you as if you’d be their next meal, and they were starving predators.
multiple uproars from the crowd were heard, the sources coming from none other than miss nobara kugisaki, sole heir to her parents' multi-million company. you smiled and waved to her as she passed by, gaining a large smile back from the girl. the next person to walk in was nanami kento, your distant not so really cousin, he was a business genius. everyone came to him if they ever screwed up and needed a business deal handled or covered up. he's often described as a snake digging its fangs into something and injecting it with venom, nanami was ruthless, almost lethal, when it came to his job.
-
"alright, thank you all for coming to this years bidding!" mei mei announced, shooting a sinister smile to the crowd. you watched intently trying to read her every expression and subtle movement, something about this years bidding didn't feel right.
"we will now announce all of the VERY eligible bachelors for this year!" she shouted, holding her arms out, one by one each bachelor strode onto the stage.
almost immediately everyone gasped, shocked at the lineup, all the bachelors consisted of a member from the most powerful families.
1. megumi fushiguro, who stood there nonchalantly, hands in his suits pockets, with a blank look in his eyes.
2. sukuna itadori, he grinned, multiple aggressive rumors.
3. yuji itadori, he scanned the crowd before his eyes once again met y/ns, what was with this eye contact?
4. junpei yoshino, a shy guy who really only wants a friend but due to his status, no one really cared about that.
5. choso, no one knows much about him, he rarely talks, but he's really big on family.
"and now! the moment you've all been waiting for, the lucky lady who will eventually pick one bachelor to marry!" mei mei smiled, before her gaze dropped, as if her eyes couldn't get more sinister enough, they seemed to glow in the dim lighting of the room.
you glanced at her dad, "who do you think it'll be, this years line up is.. not as bad?" your words turning into more of a question. last year nanami was nominated and he was so invested in work it drove the poor girl who had chosen him, off.
geto shrugged at you, analyzing your face, he smiled sadly, proud of himself, "my daughter, you look so much like your mother.." he caressed your cheek, "i'm proud of who you've become, i-.. i love you."
your eyes widened before you smiled back, "i love you too dad, mom would be proud of how well you raised me, you don't youtube how to do my hair anymore." you giggled. somehow, you felt even more off about the bidding than before.
"y/n? where are you?" she heard a loud voice sing, her head turned and it seemed as though mei mei was looking for you. "y/n get up here, don't stall!~" in her sing song voice it suddenly dawned on you why your dad suddenly said that.
slowly you stood up, the attention in the room focusing on you like a line of dominos getting knocked down. your dad pushed you slightly towards the stage but you could only look at him with anger, despite that, geto held a straight smile.
taking a deep breath you lifted your dress slightly and made your way up the stairs, whispers about how lucky you were filled the room. what was lucky about this? a couple whispers regarding your looks made your face twist.
“she’s beautiful so of course, but isn’t this unfair? she’s too beautiful.”
they’re right, it wasn’t fair. you didn’t even want to attend this joke of an event.
sure you’d been mentioned in beauty magazines, like the top 100 ones, but you had no interest in it other than the fact your father WANTED you to accept the offer. you’ve been involved in so many campaigns yet none of them mattered. you just wanted to go home, you wanted to hide from the world, especially right now.
everyone stared at you in awe, though there were a few jealous girls, they could never deny that the beautiful woman before them, only in her early 20s, wearing a beautiful black dress that hugged each curve, lace black gloves being clenched into a fist, as black heels, with pearl straps clinked against the stairs, hair neatly curled and styled up in an elegant bun, in any other case, you would’ve been happy to make a spectacle of yourself. it’s what you’ve always done, put on a show for others, others who didn’t care who you truly were, just ones that cared about your status and what you wore tomorrow.
the boys all smiled to themselves, knowing if they managed to score you, it'd be the last spot on their millionaire bingo card.
you knew that too.
you felt helpless, like this was a moment in history, and your father was selling you off to an emperor for money.
and that's why when you reached the front of the stage, in front of the bachelors, graciously taking the microphone from mei mei and announcing:
"i refuse to do this."
your statement left people more shocked than annoyed. the only one annoyed was your father who sat quietly. his eyebrow twitching.
"y/n-" mei mei started.
"i didn't sign up for this." you finished, “this event is a joke,” you quipped before heading to walk off the stage. a hand reached out to grab your wrist, you turned and saw megumi. someone who, for the past ten years, has been someone you’ve pretended not to know, pretended that you didn’t hate him, and it's been a mutual thing.
"your father has a lot on the line and that's why you're here. suck it up." he whispered.
before you could argue back, megumi grabbed the microphone from here and held it to his lips. his eyebrow twitched slightly before he fully faced the crowd.
"the reason why y/n doesn't want to this... is because-" he paused, "well it's because she knows i'm in love with her and.. she doesn't wish to hurt mine or anyone else's feelings."
your jaw dropped but you quickly turned away from the crowd as the entire crowd quickly stood up and started screaming. they threw themselves at the stage, jealous daughters and sons of prominent business men losing their shit, like dogs getting a bone thrown at them.
they screamed in retaliation no longer being able to contain their shock and jealousy. megumi threw the mic to mei mei who stood there, stunned. the rest of the boys howled in laughter, clapping for megumi, confirming they all truly had the same goal.
to get out of there and use you as bait.
megumi pointed his head to the backstage and they all nodded quickly running after you. you glanced for your traitor of a dad only to realize you wouldn’t be able to spot him with that crowd.
"y/n, you made a spectacle of yourself tonight." yuji spoke up, approaching you as you started stepping back.
he cornered you into the wall as the rest of the bachelors watched. megumi and choso couldn't care less, they thought the intimidation game was stupid.
"yeah, no thanks to megumi." junpei huffed, he crossed his arms making a point to stand further away from the whole group.
“i made her look desirable, there was no other way to get the crowd riled up, so we could leave.” he crossed his arms, proud of his stupid plan.
"i don't want to be included in this, this is over, oh and your plan?” you huffed turning to megumi, “it’s stupid as shit!" you fought back, before trying to move away from yuji. only to be interrupted when another arm blocked you into the wall, sukuna.
both of the twins gazed down at you before sukuna licked his lips. you scanned his face; various scars, deep amber eyes, and a lip piercing.
sukuna leaned down and breathed down her neck.
"she smells exactly how the tabloids described her" he concluded, clearly satisfied. "i can't wait to eat her up."
you shuddered, feeling something in your stomach stir, what the hell were these people into? hoping he wasn’t close enough to hear your heart pounding
"i have to go, i apologi-"
"you could pay us back ya know, for kind of embarrassing us, i mean who looks at this lineup and says they refuse to participate." yuji looked at you, the twins’ eyes piercing into you like daggers.
"i have no interest in that."
sukuna leaned down and whispered, "you will, i could bend you until you’re begging for me to stop, you’ll apologize then, they always do."
before they could advance this into something more, megumi and junpei grabbed one twin and pulled them back.
"don't be a fucking creep dude" megumi laughed, tilting his head at yuji. "drop the act."
yuji grinned, a silly smile making its way to his face.
"man i totally had her scared just now right?" he asked, scratching his neck.
"you ain't scaring nobody brother." choso spoke up, putting his hand on yujis shoulder.
"i told you to stop calling me that! it's not confirmed!" he argued, his entire intimidation act dropping.
the only one who didn't drop their act was sukuna.
so the rumors about him... they have to be true, you thought. it intrigued you, you couldn’t help but feel a bit interested in them, your families enemy, the itadoris, but you’d never let them know that.
"y/n are you alright? i'm sorry they scared you.." junpei asked quietly, hovering his hand over your shoulder. showing you respect just by not touching you.
"thank you, i'm alright i didn't get scared, how sweet of you." you smiled, clasping your hands together. all of a sudden the arguments stopped as the boys stood in annoyance.
"if you don't mind, i'll be using the restroom." you excused yourself and began walking away, leaving the boys quietly.
they talked amongst themselves about god knows what.
you took a subtle breath, it took a lot to scare you and the itadori boys certainly didn't come close to scaring you completely, just made you a bit nervous, excited almost, and your heart raced the closer sukuna got. you eyed the restroom sign before taking a left and walking through what seemed to be an endless hallway.
you grimaced and stopped walking suddenly, a footstep echoing after hers.
"by the way, your statement today... that was unforgivable." you stated, you didn’t have to turn around to know who followed you out, clenching your fists as pink arose on your face from embarrassment. "how dare you create false rumors."
"you should be thankful."
"hah. for what exactly? fake dating tropes are a waste of time, and i don’t have much of that as is" you argued, turning to face the culprit, "did you bring your whole friend group with you?"
megumi sighed and put his hands in his pockets, just like he always did. he gave you a half-smile before adding, "no they went to the front stage and left, the crowd died down."
"and... i can't exactly tell you why yet, but we'll tell you eventually, just continue to play along like a good girl, can you be a good girl for me again?" he said lowly, stepping toward you with each word. you swallowed hard, trying to step back but your body felt frozen.
the boys fingers grazed your chin before he scanned your eyes. something that looked like regret, guilt, and lust flashed through his eyes but megumi was always quick to erase any and all imperfections.
after all, everyone knew the tale, y/n suguru and megumi fushiguro were best friends growing up.
but back then things were more.. well, to put it lightly, carefree.
megumi always played with his toys, he enjoyed building sandcastles at his families private beach. he was a sarcastic and adorable child. you loved to play with hair, constantly having your chunky little fingers in megumis hair, reading children's books to him, and playing with plants. you were adventurous and loved hanging out with him, your best friend.
he’d boss you around and though you argued, you always obeyed his every word, following him like a lost puppy. the two of you were always up to no good, there were times you stressed him out so badly while you held onto a bar, dropped down, and swung out. but no matter what, you were always together.
before then, megumis father, toji, was almost always never around, his nose deep in his work doing god knows what. when megumis mother passed away he was always alone until you met him. which is why he clung to you despite not showing it. he grew protective over you, growing possessive the older he got, he didn’t want anyone else to experience your light, your smile, the smile you only showed him.
at company dances and gatherings, he was always your dance partner. but when the two of you reached the age of 12, you were immediately torn apart due to a sudden company rivalry.
since then, you’ve secretly hated him for not trying to at least talk to you, see you, after a friendship like that was suddenly torn apart. you waited for him, at your window, at the park, every day until you turned 16 you waited for him. but he never came, and he never contacted you or at least you thought that, unbeknownst to you, megumi had sent several letters and snuck into your yard only to be stopped by security. he tried, he did, and he didn’t stop trying.
and that’s why he specifically asked your dad to put you in the bidding.
megumi stepped back and looked at you fully, "this doesn't suit you." he stated.
your cheeks flared as a feeling of annoyance bubbled in your stomach, he was too close.
"i find that inappropriate considering we just met, aren't i supposed to find the most eligible bachelor? seems maybe you're not the best fit" you turned your heels and walking away leaving megumi highly amused, but a slight twinge of pain struck through his heart
i'm going to have fun with you y/n suguru, you’ll be mine soon, he thought, he tried to keep in contact with you, through letters mostly, but he couldn’t ignore the shiver that ran through his spine seeing you again, speaking, to you again after so long. hearing your voice again made his body grow hot.
—
"you set me up!" you yelled, as you threw your purse into the limo and sitting as far away from your father as possible.
her father sighed and crossed his legs, "you should know better than to yell, i didn't raise you like that."
there it was.
his business talk.
you chewed the inside of your cheek and sighed, "i don’t understand why you’d do this, if it’s for the company then sure i'll play along. but on one condition."
"that's my girl." geto smiled, his gaze lowering.
"you must tell me why you signed me up for this, don't even think about leaving details out."
your father sighed, "you're getting older honey, it won't be long before you'll have to settle into your role for the company, you need a husband, that boy, the fushiguro boy, you know him or knew him at least, their family will be a good asset to us now." he finished.
your brows furrowed as your hands clenched onto the edge of your seat. visibly upset, you nodded and looked out the window.
“so you tore us apart as children and now they’re useful to our company again,” you continued to nod, tears forming in your eyes but you knew better than to cry in front of your father, “well, we’ve set our terms, i’ll hold up my end of the deal.”
"that's my girl, make-” he paused, “play partner and once papa gets his end of the deal from mr fushiguro, you can be free to do whatever you want."
papa.
what a loaded phrase, you haven’t called him that since you were a child, he was barely a father. your thoughts circled back to his last sentence.
free to do whatever you want.
….
free.
you truly wondered what it meant to be free. you knew he didn’t mean it in the way you wanted, but you continued to daydream about what free would look like during your ride home.

hiromi higuruma is the defense attorney for someone you believe is guilty despite trying not to let bias get in the way of work. passion and tension collide as the two of you take on this new case on opposite sides. as someone who also believes in justice for the innocent, higuruma won't back down easily, even if it is the losing side.
as feelings blossom, the case becomes increasingly more difficult. but you can't help but wonder if feelings emerge only because one of you wants to weaken the other, will these feelings get in the way of the trial?

there was probably no one else you despised working against more than hiromi higuruma, a lethal powerhouse of an attorney. as a prosecutor it was important for you to remain neutral, not letting your own opinion affect a case.
"and how do you plead?" the judge asked.
"the defendant pleads innocent," higuruma spoke, he knew his defendant was guilty, it was clear as day, but he was obligated to do his best.
sitting so close to the judge had its perks, for instance, just now he glanced at you. it was fleeting and quick, but you caught it. you knew no one wanted to be more done with this trial than him. you kept a stoic face but chewed on the inside of your cheek, a habit created from an immense amount of stress and anxiety. after the jury spoke amongst one another, the trial slowly approached its end.
this is going nowhere, he's clearly guilty, you thought, zoning out.
higurumas voice droned on and on, great, was he on another one of his tangents?
"we propose the defendant serves probation for a year instead of jail, 68 hours of community service, and join a rehabilitation program."
huh?! you thought.
"objection!" you exclaimed, fists hitting your table.
"you may proceed," the judge motioned for you to continue.
"your honor, the defendant is here today due to the fact they drove under the influence, resulting in vehicular homicide of five victims, two of which were only three years old. how will the defendant pay back the damages caused by their impaired driving? how can you be so sure, probation will be enough to make up for his crimes?" your eyes sharpened, glancing towards the jury, then at the defendant.
the defendant trembled, eyes wide in horror, tears beginning to pool in his eyes.
"i-i plead guilty!" the defendant cried out, lunging onto the table, "i'll serve time, i'll do anything!" he screamed, saliva launching everywhere. you faced him, a disgusted expression making way to your face, as you basically served his sentence to him on a platter, slamming it down onto the table and shoving his face in it.
higuruma sighed, massaging his temples, wondering why he they even bothered to hire him.
the air around you grew thick, growing dim, dark, terrifying.
the defendant continued to stare at you in horror.
"the defendant is hereby guilty under charges including impaired driving resulting in death, you will serve a minimum of two years where you'll then be enrolled into a rehabilitation program, afterwards you will commit to 68 hours of community service, case dismissed" the judge stated, pounding his gavel.
as people began to shuffle out of the court, you watched as they led the defendant away, and glanced at higuruma who was walked towards you, already looking back at you.
"have you reviewed your next case involving the homicide at shibuya?" he asked.
"of course," you answered, lowering your gaze.
"good, i'm working as the defense attorney again, i will not lose" his voice deepened, sending a shiver down your spine. this was a side of him you've seen one too many times, it never failed to short circuit your system.
"with all due respect, mr higuruma, i think you're letting your personal feelings get in the way of properly handling this case," you gave him a half-assed smile. before he could say anything, the family of the victims called you over. "excuse me," you apologized to higuruma before walking over to them.
the woman was already sobbing as she tried pulling you in for a hug, your body went stiff, memories from your past washing over you like a blanket of chains. her lawyer quickly realized and pulled her back, asking her to try to calm down.
"i'm sorry i just-" she sniffed, wiping her nose into a tissue, "i'm glad that man is behind bars, my brother and his family got their justice thanks to you."
your eyes sparkled, "o-oh it's also thanks to the jury and the judge themselves but-"
"i still wanted to thank you!" she exclaimed, stepping towards you again but you stumbled back, hands clenched at your side. her eyes widened slightly, "oh i'm sorry!"
"it's not your fault ma'am i just-" your eyes shut for a brief second, memories from your childhood replaying, "i'm just doing my job," you smiled.
higuruma watched closely, noticing how you avoided physical contact, to others it might've seemed like professionalism, but he had a hunch it was more than that, and he wanted to break that chest of secrets open.
you reminded him of someone from his distant memories, a girl, just like you. she cried often. her parents had gotten into a brutal car accident, he witnessed it, watching as the girl crawled out sobbing and clutching onto a stuffed animal. without thinking, he ran to her and comforted her until the cops came. for days after that, he continued to spend every second with you until his family moved away. but you were not that girl, you were fierce, guarded, and unpleasant to be around in court.
when the woman left, you turned back to higuruma, the two of you being the last ones here. you held onto your book bag tightly and he noticed how you appeared more tense than before.
"well, interesting trial today, i'll be going home now, goodnight mr higuruma" you waved, pulling your sleeves down, revealing a bracelet.
it looked familiar to him.
"let me walk you to your car" he rushed, speaking without thinking.
"that's alright, i don't drive, i take the train" you faked a smile, "better hurry so i don't miss it." you continued to walk away but he followed behind, once the two of you got outside, it was pitch black.
"it's very dark out, i insist," he pushed, "besides i'm going to the train station too."
"just what are you trying to achieve here?" you asked, somewhat out of anger but mostly out of confusion.
"an alliance, i want an alliance," he spoke so professionally it bothered you.
"no! no way, " you said in disbelief, "an alliance between you and i would only anger us both, as a prosecutor you're almost always on the side i don't agree on."
"now look at who's letting her feelings fuel her decisions," he pushed, "i want a re-trial." you grimaced at him.
"mr higuruma, we already decided on the verdict, your client was guilty beyond reasonable doub-" he cut you off before you could finish.
"you know that wasn't what i was referring to, ms y/n." the way he said your name made your chest squeeze.
"are you referring to us?" you asked, you hated how it sounded coming out of your mouth, he nodded and moved to walk beside you. you sighed, seriously, what was up with him?
you remember when you first started out, trying so hard to make your coworkers like you, but no matter what, they always seemed to resent you. all of them except higuruma, he just didn't seem to care or mind your presence. you tried to bring him coffee, tea, and snacks, just to make a good impression but you noticed how the drinks grew cold and the snacks remained untouched, eventually getting thrown away. as good looking as he was, and yes even you admitted to that, you didn't know how to connect with him and he didn't have an interest in connecting either. "you're trying too hard, it's infuriating, you're only making everyone's job harder," he told you once, not a single shred of emotion behind his eyes. it stung it really did, that's when you realized why your desk was always messy, piled with paperwork that was supposed to be done by your co-workers, why your transcripts were thrown into the trash, and why you were never invited to team parties.
"so... because i'm prosecutor no one even wants to respect me? but they respect the other prosecutor working here" you asked. "no, no one respects you because you're a prosecutor who's damn good at her job," his eyes ripped your soul apart until you were just a shell of a person.
your eyes began to tear up, no matter how old you got you were still the same pathetic crybaby. but you wouldn't let anyone see you cry, not anymore.
you never did notice how higurumas eyes lit up with life at the sight of your tears. from that day on you decided it would be better to be feared than loved, making it your mission to challenge every single case no matter how difficult they were. trials became longer, every claim was objected, and you decided from then on, no one would ever be safe from their fates. especially if you played the role of harbinger to perfection.
you buried yourself in work, protecting the innocent. no one spoke up against you again after that. co-workers that used to bully you began to ask for forgiveness. it was already hard enough to get in contact with a good prosecutor, you made that process even harder. putting your whole soul into trials. not everyone liked you, but they didn't have to. some respected you and adored you from a distance.
"i have to ask," higurumas voice cut through your memories, "where did you get your bracelet?"
"why," you got defensive, saying it before realizing.
you'd received the bracelet when you were a child, from someone who meant a lot to you, but he moved away and never returned. "where did you get it" he gritted out, this time it wasn't a question, he was ordering you to tell him.
you fidgeted with your bracelet, a habit, playing with each charm as you thought of a response. "my friend gave it to me, it's stupid but it's a friendship bracelet, he didn't have a bracelet though he had a um-"
"a ring" you both spoke at the same time, as your body froze.
"how did you know that?" you asked. "i know who gave it to you." he stated, keeping his hands in his pockets. you stopped walking, your eyes glossing over with tears as you grabbed the front of his suit.
"where is he now? how's he doing? is he okay? how do you even know him?!" you lost your composure, overwhelmed with emotion, your hands now gripping the front of his suit. the words of the past, words higuruma himself told you, rang through your mind they don't respect you. slowly you let go of his suit, allowing tears to flow down mindlessly. "im... sorry," you turned, walking ahead of him quietly.
so she's still a crybaby, he thought to himself, continuing to fall behind you. the train station was still a distance away, but you could hear the sound of trains moving against the railroad.
you sniffled as quietly as you could, vision blurry, wiping away tears that fell as best as you could. "y/n," his voiced called to you, but you couldn't hear it, too embarrassed and engrossed in your own thoughts. higuruma walked closer to you, yanking your arm back, "y/n!" he yelled.
your head snapped up, eyes still glossy, "huh?"
"you almost walked into the road."
you turned your head, one foot still in the road, stepping back slowly until you felt your arm being tugged. higuruma pulled your body into his, head on his chest, hand securing the back of it.
a truck zoomed by as you looked into his eyes, normal, average, nothing special, but for some reason they drew you in further. he looked back at you, not saying a single word, the only noise around you was the crosswalk beeping.
"higuruma-"
"you're still a pathetic crybaby, when are you going to toughen up," his statement was harsh, reigniting the tears. your lip quivered, eyes pooling with tears waiting to be released, his thumb glided over your cheek, his head tilting down slightly. "no, no, let it out, cry. do what you're good at," he ordered, grabbing your chin with force.
his words fueled something in you, despite how harsh they were, it felt like it was lighting up a fire inside you. tears spilled onto your face as you gazed at him, speechless. you reached to wipe them away only for him to smack your hand away.
"there you go that's it, cry for me."
you nodded, hands reaching for his collar, your head tilted up slightly while his met you halfway. his grip on your hair tightened slightly, strengthening his hold on your waist, as he pulled you in for a kiss.
it was passionate. fierce. adrenaline entering your veins.
he felt his dick getting harder the more you moaned against his lips, the taste of your chapstick mixing with the saltiness of your tears. he bit down on your bottom lip, roughly. your core tightened, everything he did, fueled you.
you were confused.
why? why him? why you?
you pulled away, lips red and swollen, higurumas eyes looked alive for once. like you'd accidentally awoken something in him that he'd never be able to put back to sleep.
____
__
the train ride home was silent, the both of you refusing to look at one another. your face was dusted with pink, trying your best to keep every impure thought away. the mind was a magnificent thing and right now, it was betraying you. the walls you held up so high were beginning to crumble.
your stop finally came, you didn't bother saying goodbye, just giving him a small nod.
the walk home was spent reliving what just happened and what didn't happen. did you want it to happen? did you want more? your thighs squeezed together as you walked home, the need to be in your bed increasing by the minute.
you loved analyzing memories, remembering every little detail. you loved watching the way a persons body reacted to certain words, the way you could tell if they felt guilty or not, and the way their breaths become rigid when they'd been caught.
you used the large brick walls to support you from stumbling, your legs trembling with need, heart racing. your hand touched your lips, wincing at the tender parts higuruma bit down on. you enjoyed the pain, your eyes glowing with excitement in the dark.
alone in your room you breathed against your hand while the other hand was shoved between your thighs. massaging your clit in circles as you relived the memory.
"cry for me."
you nodded subconsciously, obeying him, your hips pushing up against your hand. you brought your arm up, trying to bite down onto your forearm. your pussy growing wetter and wetter before eventually something clicked.
like someone pulling a pin off a grenade, you climaxed, riding out the wave. you brought your hand up, spreading your fingers apart, watching your cum slowly glide down your fingers and onto your wrist.
you cleaned yourself up, laying in bed in silence, what would he have done if he was here?
___
the next morning you found yourself running a bit late, which was unusual for you, today you couldn't seem to get out of bed on time. speed walking out of the train station, you heard a car screech before slowly pulling up to the curb beside you. "hey y/n need a ride?" your co-worker asked, head popping out of the window a bit. "sure, thanks eren!" you smiled, rushing to get inside the car. the drive was full of conversation. eren was one of the few people who tried to talk to you. you saw the large building approaching and reached for your book bag. "so you're working on the shibuya case too?" you asked, unbuckling your seatbelt and getting out.
he nodded, grabbing his badge and clipping it to his pocket, "yeah, heard you're getting involved too, just remember to go easy on the defense team," he joked, you laughed shooting him a glare.
"it's my job to bring justice to-"
"to whoever deserves it, girl, i've heard the same speech over and over don't play," he laughed, scratching his neck.
you rolled your eyes, "i can't believe you memorized it, that's embarrassing."
"well i've been watching you work for a while, and you already know i have a lot of respect for you, i look up to you since you're my senior!" he smiled, that was true. eren started as an intern before becoming one of the youngest lawyers at the firm, incredibly gifted.
he was clumsy, often forgetting to do his paperwork, since you were in charge of showing him the ropes, you got close, not to mention he also spilt coffee all over your desk. but since then you've kept in touch, growing closer, and even becoming friends with his fiance.
"mikasa is a lucky girl you better treat her right, i can't believe you're getting married soon," you piped up, wiping a fake tear as you walked up the stairs to the building.
"yeah me neither, time flew by fast," he sighed, holding the door open for you, "oh, she gave me a gift she made for you, here," he held out a scarf. you took it out of his hands gently, "it's so beautiful tell her i said thank you!"
someone ahead cleared their throat. higuruma stood tall, his hands in his pockets, he looked almost angry. eren apologized quickly, running up to explain himself. "i don't want an explanation, you are late, go." his tone was harsh, you flinched as he turned his attention to you. his eyes focused on the scarf in your hands, jaw clenching.
"good morning, mr higuruma," you nodded before moving to walk past him, you caught him glance around before his arm reached for yours. he pulled you close to him, watching you stumble towards him, your eyes wide with surprise.
his eyes flickered to your lips before a small grin made its way to his face. "perfect," he breathed, spinning you around and giving you a small push, "now get in there you're late too, oh- and give me this, i'll hold onto it." you nodded thoughtlessly, handing over the scarf.
the briefing was nearing its end after around two hours, stacks of paper scattered around the table, empty coffee cups scattered around the room. "alright guys, that's lunch," you stated, standing up to leave the room. "oh- y/n wait!" eren exclaimed, picking his things up, the scene piqued higurumas interest, watching as eren whispered something to you. you smiled back at eren, nodding your head.
higuruma continued to watch you and eren, eren walking ahead but you lingered, turning around you shot higuruma a small smile.
when you walked away he smiled to himself, your lips were cherry red, swollen. he leaned back in his chair clearly satisfied, as long as that was there, the brat would back off a bit.
eren looked back as he waited for you to catch up, catching a glimpse of higurumas trained gaze, fixated on you. it felt almost primal, sending a shiver down his spine, he locked eyes with higuruma, shooting him a smile.
inside the staff lounge, eren leaned towards you, "hey i had a question," he started, you nodded pouring coffee into your cup, "are you and mr higuruma seeing each other?"
it was quiet enough and you knew no one would hear but your body jumped, the hot coffee scalding your hand, in a panic you dropped the pot, glass shattering. "shit!" you yelled, reaching down to at least pick up the handle, slightly cutting your finger on a shard, "oh fuck me," you cursed. eren quickly ran and grabbed paper towels, running them under cold water, apologizing over and over.
"are you okay?!" he asked, wrapping your hand in the cooled paper towels. you smiled beginning to answer, "yeah i'm ok-"
"what did you do."
a tall shadow loomed over the two of you, you turned around slightly, "i-"
"not you, you." he pointed towards eren, the boy jumped a bit.
"i dropped the pot on accident that's all mr higuruma, i promise i'll pay for a new one, i'm going to the storage room to get an ice pack and bandaid." you finished, standing up.
eren looked at you in concern before cowering away when higuruma shot him a look. "y/n i'll clean this up! don't worry about it."
you nodded, smiling, but higuruma was already dragging you out.
the storage room was a bit far out, residing in an isolated area of the building. no one but the janitor came over here, the walls weren't even remodeled like the rest of the building. "just so you know, i'm capable of taking myself there," you spoke softly, never being this clumsy at work before.
a few co-workers passed by, concern washing over their faces, "they probably got into a physical fight this time, did you see how aggressive she was the other day during trial? freaks me out how good she is," one girl stated.
"i know, it's frustrating and probably tiresome for mr higuruma, ah, he's so patient." her friend responded.
"right? that's why we love him!"
their voices faded into the distance, you sighed as you finally reached the storage room, opening the door. "i'm fine to be on my own, i'll go find the first aid kit," walking in, you searched through the metal shelves using your phone flashlight. there wasn't any light inside. higuruma stood by the doorway, waiting for you, watching you squirm in the awkward silence. "isn't it kind of creepy? how the storage room is so isolated from the main part of the building, it feels haunted over here," you joked, trying to lighten the mood. might as well lose your tough girl act, he's already seen you at your worst, can't get any worse from here.
turning, you saw him walking towards you slowly, your heart beginning to race.
okay it was getting worse.
"it's not a burden for me," he started, "i enjoy arguing with you." you shot him a look of annoyance before nodding.
"it's fine i get it," you smirked, "not everyone can defeat me, like you." his eyes widened like the fire inside him was being lit ablaze. he continued walking closer to you, you stood frozen. his thumb grazed over the red and tender spot on your lip, you could taste the blood when he pulled his thumb away. "did i bite too hard?" he stared at his thumb, you blushed, reaching for the first aid kit, pulling it open. your eyes flickered, meeting his for a brief second, you slammed the kit back onto the shelf causing a handful of bandaids to fly out onto the ground.
"god what's up with me today?" you complained, going to bend down until higuruma stopped you. "i'll get it for you," he knelt down, picking each one up except for one, "give me your hand."
holding your hand out you watched as he carefully unwrapped the paper towel and placed the bandaid on the cut. his hand lingered on yours and he looked up at you.
"is it alright if i kiss you again?"
your lips parted, "yes" without a second to spare, he stood up, crashing his lips onto yours. "w-wait!" you exclaimed, he began to step back pulling you with him while holding the kiss. his hand reached for the doorknob, shutting the door and locking it. your eyes widening before fluttering shut.
puling away for a second, he whispered quietly, "no one comes to this area but me, no one will hear us," his voice growing desperate, like he need you more than life.
"before i do anything are you okay with me-" your memories of last night flashed in your mind, how you gasped for air, pretending your hand was his. "yes," you said quickly, the excitement from last night crawling back. his lips pushed against yours again, harsh breaths warming your skin. you pushed yourself against a metal shelf leaning against the wall, your bracelet creating a small noise as it hit against the metal. higurumas hands roamed your body, one hand running through his usually neatly done hair.
silently, you thanked the darkness, he wouldn't be able to see just how red your face was. your desperate little breaths against his lips only encouraged higuruma.
he opened his eyes briefly, even in the dark he could see your face, dewy from sweat, cheeks flushed, and he enjoyed the sight of your free hand gripping onto the shelf. he felt his cock throbbing, his pants beginning to tighten. groaning, he broke away from the kiss, kneeling down once more.
today of all days you wore a long pencil skirt, defining your body, his hand trailed down from your waist to your thighs. pulling your skirt up until it bunched up at your waist, revealing your lace panties. "did you wear these for me?" he questioned, index finger going between your thighs, feeling the heat, feeling how soaked you already were, "did you?"
you nodded slowly, a whimper almost making its way out of your mouth.
you suddenly felt his teeth dragging up to your waistband, biting down, and dragging your panties down until he let them fall to your ankles. your body trembled, waiting for him, getting soaked at the thought of his touch. "is this okay?" he asked, voice deep with desire, as soon as you nodded or said yes it'd be endgame, there wouldn't be any coming back from this. you couldn't go back to the way things were, ignoring each other, competitive instinct fueling your need to do better. nonetheless, you nodded, and that was all he needed.
he propped your legs up onto his shoulders, forcing you to brace yourself on the shelf. he pulled your folds apart, revealing just how wet, and red you were with need. your hand reached up to cover your mouth, heart beating out of your chest.
his tongue dipping into your pussy, your eyes immediately closing at the feeling. he coated his thumb in your juices, spreading your lips further apart, rubbing his thumb against your clit. your thighs shook, moans leaving from your mouth.
"there it is," his voice was rough, he switched, his mouth moving to suck on your clit, a new sensation for you, while he index found the opening of your pussy, slamming his finger in while his tongue created swirl patterns. you continued to whimper into your hand.
"m-mm- mr higarum-" your eyes rolled into the back of your head as he nibbled down on your clit.
"finish that sentence, brat" your face grew hot.
"it feels good," you breathed out, feeling him slip a second, then third finger in, your pussy growing sloppy the wetter it got.
"it feels good what baby?' he looked up at you, nose pushed into you.
"it feels good mr higuruma," you moaned, head dipping back, "p-please give me more."
"more?" he teased, "do you deserve more? being so clumsy, wearing lace panties just for me, and arguing with me every chance you get in court."
"b-but that's- mm! that's my-" his fingers gently hit your g-spot, noticing your body bucking up, he curled his fingers.
"yeah that's right baby, that's your job right?" your legs grew weaker, you were already close to cumming on his face, "you don't get to cum just yet y/n, i need to punish you for putting me through so much."
your eyes lit up, looking down at him, his eyes were practically glowing, your eyes began to fill with tears, the overwhelming feeling of pleasure getting to you, you loved it.
he bit the inside of your thigh, the pain sending spikes up your spine, "tell me what it is you want, we'll have a trial right here."
you moaned as he pumped his fingers in and out of your pussy, the sounds filling the room, "i-i,"
"y-your honor, the defendant-" you moved your body into his hands, begging for more, "wants you."
"tell me more," his eyes lazily looked up at you, using his thumb to roughly rub your clit.
"i want you to fuck me," you spat out, struggling to even breathe.
"case dismissed," he stated, you heard the sound of his belt buckle hit the ground, he moved your legs to his waist, putting his arms under yours and carrying you to the wall. you felt his cock rubbing against your stomach, the veins popping out, begging to be inside you.
"do you feel it?" he breathed, reaching down to pump his cock a few times, "do you feel how badly i want you?" placing his head in the crook between your neck and shoulder.
"yes," you breathed out, "i want to feel you, all of you, please, show me how badly you want me," tears ran down your face from the previous overstimulation, you wanted more.
his eyes widened, glowing with more desire than before, "fuck i love it when you cry for me," he grunted, probing your opening with the his tip. it felt warm, welcoming, inviting him in.
your hold around his shoulders tightened as he began to push himself in, the stretch tearing you apart, "f-fuck" you moaned.
his harsh breaths warmed your neck, grip on your ass tightening as he pushed his cock all the way in, filling you completely.
"you're my light," he started, speaking in between breaths, "my- my only proof of- true innocence in this world" he bit down on your shoulder, a string of moans leaving your mouth. "fuck you feel better than i imagined- fuck."
he bit down harder trying not to cum, tears spilling down onto his cheek. "cry for me y/n, more, please-" he gasped, your eyes closing the pleasure becoming too much, "i-i love this, fuck!" he exclaimed, holding you tighter as he thrust into you with more force, pushing against your cervix. the feeling caused your body to curl as you suddenly saw stars, your first orgasm crashing down on you. "fuck- fuck hiromi yes, please fuck me harder." you begged quietly, it only motivated him, watching you with eyes half lidded. he groaned, feeling his cock pushing against the top of your vagina.
"i'm- i'm gonna cum- where do you want it?" he was whimpering at this point, while your moans came as whispers against your hand. "i-i'll swallow it-" before you could even continue he pulled out, quickly lowering you to the floor, you sat up on your knees, hair messed up.
he gave his cock a few more pumps, the tip was plump, pre-cum oozing down the sides. you opened your mouth, tasting your juices as he pushed his cock down your throat.
you shut your eyes, gagging on his size.
higurumas face was flushed red as he watched you take it all in, nose barely touching his skin.
his eyes shut tightly as he felt the coil in his stomach release itself, shooting hot liquid down your throat. you gagged a bit but swallowed every last drop, but it just kept oozing out of him.
he covered his mouth with his hand moaning into it, "a-ah mm fuck."
when he finished cumming you kept his cock in your mouth, sucking him off, watching him try to fight his body from squirming until he slowly took his cock out of your mouth, saliva dripping from the tip.
you could barely speak as your eyes watered, higuruma pulled his underwear up, crouching down and using his phone flashlight to look at you. you huffed, trying to catch your breath, face red and hair sticking to your face.
"you're the most beautiful person i've ever seen," he stated, leaning his forehead against yours. he handed you a roll of paper towels from off the shelf and propped his phone up so he could help you clean up.
---
-
you fixed your hair making sure you looked as composed as possible, you turned towards higuruma, he looked like nothing had even happened.
"well lunch is going to be over soon," you cleared your throat, unlocking the door and opening it. your hand was still holding onto the door handle when higurumas left hand suddenly placed itself on top of your hand. and that was when you saw it, a ring shining slightly on his ring finger. you didn't give him time to explain before you blurted out a quiet, "you're- you're married?"
tears filled your eyes as regret filled your body, you yanked your hand away from his, rushing to get away from him.
"y/n wait!" he yelled, but you were already gone.
drying your eyes as you sped back to the main part of the building, joining the others in the briefing room.
sitting through another hour of briefing was hell, higuruma watched your every move, tempted to excuse everyone except you. you explained the premise of the investigation and assigned the others their roles.
"okay everyone, that's it, have a good night," you smiled weakly, eren had offered you a ride but you refused, wanting to walk home.
you and higuruma were the last to leave, as soon as you packed your stuff you bolted out of the building despite hearing him call your name. guilt ate away at you, had you ruined someones marriage? if anything it's his fault, how were you going to face anyone after this?
higuruma locked up the briefing room before bolting out of the building, he saw you walking a good distance away. "y/n!" he yelled, your head turned and that's when he saw the tears falling from your eyes, he slowed down for a brief second before running to you.
you stopped for a moment before you started sprinting to the train station. but it was no use, he continued to chase after you. "god i was so stupid," you bit down on your cheek, walking into the train car.
higuruma walked in after you, eyes meeting yours.

_____
"higuruma go home," your voice was firm, you were already almost home, but he continued to follow you, asking you to talk to him.
"y/n-"
you were right next to your house already, you could just open the gate and not talk to him.
"y/n i have your-"
"higuruma go home, please, it's not right for you to be with me, this is wrong."
confusion washed over him, he adjusted his tie beginning to grow frustrated. "y/n i'm not really sure what you're referring to, i know somethings bothering you but i'm just giving you your scarf back." he held out the scarf.
you sighed, really wanting to grab it, "it's alright, go home and give it to your wife as an apology gift, but that's not nearly enough to make up for cheating-"
his chuckle interrupted you, lips curving into a smile, "so is that what this is about?" you began to grow angry, "is this a game to you? just leave!" you yelled, trying not to disturb your neighbors. you walked towards your gate, unlocking it, "you're dismissed now."
higuruma walked up, grabbing your wrist, you began to pull your arm away, but he held on tightly. his expression no longer consisted of any humor. "y/n, do you not remember me? remember my ring?"
you shot him a confused look as he took the ring off, showing it to you, you refused to look.
"your wife picked a lovely ring, if you don't tell her i will tell her," you started, pushing the gate open.
"and what if she leaves me because of that?" he asked, "what if i have to go to court for a divorce?"
you glared at him, "then-"
"will you leave me?" he asked, pulling your hand up to his face, your bracelet pressing against his cheek.
your mind began to race, you reached for the ring, looking at it closely.
"it's you," you breathed out, "the boy from- back then?"
that's when it dawned on you, why he suddenly became interested after he asked about your bracelet.
"you've had it all this time? did you know it was me?"
"i knew it was you when you cried after i told you no one respected you, did you think no one heard you crying at your desk?" he asked, "of course, i waited until i could confirm it was you for sure, but i couldn't do that until yesterday."
you blinked, "so you waited three years just to confirm a superstition," you looked at him in disbelief, "but why didn't you tell me? i would've been happy."
"well, it's like when we were kids, remember when you gave me the ring? you tripped on a log i told you not to climb, but you did it anyway, i carried you to your grandmothers," he continued, slipping the ring back onto his finger, "you gave me a ring that didn't fit me, but you bought it and that meant everything to me,"
you flinched back, as he dropped your wrist and let his eyes bore into your soul.
"you told me, we should get married and i agreed, to you it might've meant nothing, but i waited all these years for you, i watched you spend days crying in the office, waiting for you to turn to me and cry into my arms again like you did back then." you stood silently, your feet refused to move an inch, you remembered the day you gave him the ring. once your grandmother cleaned your wound, he showed up at the door with a bracelet for you.
so this was him now.
the boy who unfortunately witnessed the car crash, the boy who didn't know you but held you tightly until the police came. the boy you spent your entire summer with and fell in love with.
"do you remember it all?" he asked.
you nodded, "i do."
"how i'd take your toys, waiting for you to beg for it back, i enjoyed watching you try to get them back, the way you'd bite the inside of your cheek, the same way you do now," he walked closer to you as you stepped inside past the gate, "i loved when you cried."
your chest began to tighten, heartbeat racing.
"there was never a day after i moved that i didn't think about you, i searched for you, you know." his gaze sharpened, looking almost predatorial.
"h-higuruma don't come near me!" you exclaimed, trying to ignore the heat coming from between your thighs, if he came closer, you'd lose yourself in him.
"i craved you every day, i wanted my angel back," your face blushed as he walked closer but you continued to back up, almost reaching your door, "my one, shred, of innocence in this dark, dark world." his eyes glowed in the dark. you were backed up against the door, his body pushing against yours.
"so, will you be mine again? will you save me from the dark again?" his voice was low.
your breath hitched.
to him, you were his gift from heaven, an angel sent down to save him from his sins. he's not proud of the things he's done, it felt better than he expected, but, his desire and longing for you felt better than any of that. he needed, he refused to let go, not now when he's so close. not when he's spent the past three years watching your every move.
you filled his thoughts, he thought of only you during long late nights where he'd fist himself until he couldn't breathe anymore.
"make me yours again, hiromi," your voice cut through his thoughts, bringing him back to his sweet reality. the way you said his name encouraged his unhealthy craving for you. you opened the door, not breaking eye contact with him.
___ __
moaning against his lips, you kicked the door shut, pulling away to toss your book bag down onto the ground. you reached for his tie, leading him down the hallway to your bedroom. as soon as you entered the room it was like his primal instincts came out, he was hungry, and you were on the menu for dinner and dessert.
you kicked off your heels crawling onto the bed, higuruma slipped his shoes off hastily, hand on the doorway as he began to take his blazer off.
the moonlight illuminated your entire room, it was then where you truly got to appreciate his build. his body looked lean and slender but once he took the blazer off, it was like the gods themselves sculpted him to perfection and sent him to you.
you laid down on your back, head just slightly pushing against the headboard. higuruma, with his tie loosened, shirt still buttoned, and pants that were growing tighter by the second, crawling onto the bed slowly making his way to you.
you felt your core clenching as you pulled your skirt down, throwing it somewhere in your room. his gaze stayed fixated on you, hands reaching to spread your legs apart, further than you thought you could spread them.
"look at you, already wet," he cooed, ripping your lace panties off, his teeth sank down onto your thighs, leaving bite marks everywhere. you covered your mouth with your hands, pain mixing with pleasure.
your fingers interlocked with one another, his fingers pumping in and out of you again. the feeling of his love would never get old.
"fuck you're already so ready for me, do you miss it angel?"
you nodded, breathing heavily, "please let me have it, i want your cock inside me."
he curled his fingers and watched you buck up into his hands, just like earlier. he continued to abuse your g-spot, enjoying your loud moans and the sloppy sounds coming from your pussy.
"you both sound so beautiful." he hummed, licking stripes on your thighs. he removed his fingers quickly causing your body to shudder from the loss, moving back to unbuckle his belt. "don't worry baby, you'll be full again, i can't wait to feel you tightening- ah- against me," he pumped his cock, the tip already becoming red, spilling more pre-cum than before.
you nodded waiting for him.
he tossed his pants to the ground, "y/n turn around and get on your knees," he grunted out, you nodded, doing as he said, hands reaching to hold onto the headboard, sticking your ass out.
"fuck look at that," he groaned, positioning himself behind you, "oh and one more thing,"
curious you looked back at him as he teased your pussy with his tip, slowly dipping it in and out. "y-yes?" you breathed out, quietly.
"brace yourself" he slammed his thick cock into you, your walls clenching on him making moan out "h-ahh- shit-"
he was hitting new spots, new angles, you felt his cock in your stomach, placing your hand on your abdomen to feel his length. "fuck you're in me so deep, harder- h- ohh-" you moaned, pushing your ass against him. it only made him want to fuck you rougher.
his hand snaked around your throat, pullilng your head back to look at him, his body leaning on yours as he whispered roughly into your ear, " y-you don't think i didn't notice you trying to hold your breath earlier? do you enjoy being choked?"
you nodded, eyes glossing over, lips parted moans turning into whines as his grip around your throat tightened, shortening your air.
everything felt more sensitive.
you whimpered as he choked you, pounding his length into you, filling every crevice of your canal.
his grip loosened as he striked your ass with his palm, leaving a light pink mark.
it wasn't good enough.
he slapped your ass again and again, making you cry out, thrusting your body forward only to be slammed back onto his cock. the sound of your ass hitting against his abdomen filling the room.
"do you need to cum angel?" he asked, it wasn't a question, he saw the way your legs trembled, the way your walls clenched around him begging for more while getting closer each time.
you nodded, losing the power to speak. "use your words brat," he grunted out, pulling out and pounding into you, repeating that process until you were nothing but a crying mess.
"pl-please- ah- let me cum please," you begged, eyes opening just enough to catch his expression. his brows furrowed, eyes filled with desire, mouth slightly opened.
"where are your manners?" he breathed, this earned you a slap to the ass, where a red handprint had formed itself.
"please hiromi please," you cried out, face digging into the pillow.
"go ahead, cum on my dick," his hands found their way to your breasts as he caressed them, the front of his body leaning on your back.
he pounded your cervix as you felt your stomach explode, liquid rushing down against his thick cock. spraying and leaking out while he continued to hammer you, guiding you through your orgasm.
"fuck-" he groaned, head tilting back, while his hands pulled over his face and ran through his hair, "squirting all over it, you're so messy prosecutor."
you blushed, a sensitive feeling taking over but he continued to plow through it, your hands curled to fist the bed sheets.
"i-i" you started. his eyes glanced down at you, head pushing against the pillows, small hands clutching onto your white sheets, hair becoming a tangled mess, while tears stained your cheeks, you were so beautiful. "i want it inside!" you yelled, as he forcefully pounded against you, the feeling becoming so overwhelming. your legs trembled as you shut your eyes seeing stars while you squirted for the second time, feeling your juices flow down your leg.
higuruma groaned loudly, signaling he was close, his hands gripping your ass. "you sure, my love?" he asked.
you nodded quickly, "yes, please just give it to m-me- ah-" you bit down on your lip.
he let out a loud moan, his thrusts becoming slower while you felt a hot liquid shooting against your walls. your eyes widened.
it felt good.
he pulled out slowly, chest heaving, his eyes sparkling at the sight.
i did it- i finally did it, i shattered your innocence.
