"People say that when humans were made the body had two sets of everything, but it only had one soul, the two sets would be separated, forever searching for their other half."
----------------------
Birds chirp as a man sitting beside a window, watched cherry blossoms fall to the ground outside of his bedroom. It was such a beautiful day, but for the young man, it was a very overwhelming one.
The young man was George Davidson, the soon-to-be king of the Kinoko kingdom. As he stared at the beautiful flowers; he wondered where he would be if his father had not passed away, how he would be if he was free from his duties, or how he would be if he had a partner to support him through this.
George had always believed in soulmates-weirdly enough; he had grown up to witness the marriage of his parents and they always looked like they loved each other deeply, they both were there for one another through the tough times, and when his mother was on her death bed his father never left her side.
He saw them as soulmates.
His parents would always tell him that they were each other's halves. His parents always assured him that one day, he too will find his other half.
George had always wanted a relationship like his parents, he had always wanted someone to hold him when he was upset, someone to dance with under the moonlight, someone who he would stay with and love until death.
Though for now, he's just looking out in his window, waiting for the cue of his private advisor/secretary-Karl-to let him know when he's supposed to reveal himself to the public for his coronation.
Now that his father had passed away, he is given the responsibility of ruling over the kingdom that he had sought to once rule; though right now, everything is going too fast for him, he was getting overwhelmed, and he thinks that he cannot rule over the kingdom that he cares so much about.
------------------------------
Before he spiraled out of fear, a soft knock was heard from his door, he slowly stood up, slightly patting down, and fixing his very well-tailored custom-made suit.
"Who is it?" he softly asked, "It's me, your private advisor; Karl, your highness" a quiet voice is heard from the other side of the door.
"What is it that you need, Karl?" George said fiercely, he heard a quiet sigh before he heard a response.
"Your highness, it is time for the coronation." the advisor calmly scolded him, George sighed and opened the door slowly, revealing his private advisor on the other side.
"I'm sorry I snapped you, Karl. It's just that..." George trailed off,
"You’re nervous and a bit overwhelmed?" Karl asked his soon-to-be King and friend, "Yeah, you always know what I'm thinking and feeling. You're a good advisor and an even better friend." George told his friend.
"Karl, do you ever wonder what happens in the future?” George suddenly asks his friend, as they walked the palace halls. “Yeah, of course, I do” Karl answered calmly.
“Do you ever get scared not knowing what happens?” George followed up,
“I mean, yeah. It’s quite scary not knowing but I’m still quite grateful I don’t know everything because that would be a tough thing to carry on your shoulders…” Karl said in a serious and sad tone like he was talking about an experience, but before George could ask him what that was about, they arrived at the front doors of the cathedral.
They stand in front of the large doors that will change George's and the whole country's life, "This is it, huh" George said,
"Yeah...scared?" his advisor answered,
--------------------------
The guards opened the large doors, revealing the crowds of people watching his coronation, he took a deep breath and walked the long aisle as people watch in awe, whispering to each other saying how confident and handsome the very soon-to-be king is, not knowing that they could be heard by him.
He walked up to the alter that will soon make all this official. The priest proceeded to do the coronation ceremony, George took a final deep breath, and at that, he was officially king.
George sits in the middle of a grand chair at the ball after his coronation, he stares at the couples; dancing with each other in the middle of the ballroom, a heavy feeling of envy in his chest, he wishes to have someone he can happily dance with too.
Multiple suitors approached him, but none piqued his interest, well, that was until he met Clayton Dream, a very well-known nobleman from the Kingdom of Pandora. Clayton is known for being a very flirtatious and charming man to the people of Pandora and different kingdoms.
George easily got caught in his charming and flirtatious ways but he didn't want to seem so desperate, so he played it off that he wasn't interested, but somehow Clayton did not give up on pursuing him; unlike the other men and women who after only minutes of trying to flirt with him gave up.
Clayton had a spark, that enthralled George.
---------------------------
"Good evening, dearest prince" a man greeted George as he walked over to him,
"It's King now. May I know what you need from me?" he coldly answered,
"Well, you seemed lonely, so I wanted to ask you if you wanted to dance with me." the man said as he offered him a hand with a handsome smile on his face,
George looked at the man's hand contemplating whether or not to accept it. George gave in and took his hand, he was bored, and he told Karl to go and have fun, so he was bored and alone.
"Alright, sure," he said to the man,
"Amazing," the man said as he smiled and led him to the middle of the ballroom, people watched them as they did, why wouldn't they?
Their brand-new king - who was wearing such a lavish suit - was with a very infamous attractive Batchelor.
George began to dance with the man ignoring the eyes that were staring at them, but soon it started to bother him and that's when the man noticed,
"Hey, focus on my eyes and take a deep breath. You don't have to worry, if they say something bad about you, you can always throw them to the dungeon" he said to him,
George laughed at his joke, the man smiled at him, "I never got your name, good sir." he suddenly said, "Well Sir, I am Duke Clayton Dream of the kingdom of Pandora" he said
"Well, it is nice to meet you, Sir Dream." George simply said, "Has anyone ever told you that you're gorgeous, Your Highness?" Dream asked him, "Yes, multiple people." he answered,
"Has anyone ever told you that you have beautiful eyes?" Dream asked again, "No. No one has ever loved my eyes, they're not perfect." George answered truthfully.
His eyes were always an insecurity that he had about him because of it being two different colors.
"Well, they are. They're perfect and beautiful. It matches you and your personality" Clay told George reaching for his cheek, he flinches but softens immediately to Clay's touch, forgetting everything, all his worries and troubles, forgetting the thousands of people watching them dance, to him it was just Clayton and him.
Clayton, the man who stole his heart with just a single compliment. George laid his head on Clay’s shoulder and they danced the night away.
---------------------------
Weeks after they first met, George and Clayton started to write to each other back and forth, and then soon after that Clayton officially started to court him publicly.
The public fell in love with their relationship, always talking about how they were such a perfect match with each other, and how they could pass off as soulmates, and in George's eyes, maybe they were.
Clayton always showered him with affection, always telling him words of compassion and gifting him gifts, he always tried to keep his façade of being a fierce and cold person but sooner or later he became blind in love with this man he had met.
----------------------------
I miss you dearly, I would want to hold you again and dance with you under the beautiful moonlight, as it shines in your beautiful eyes. I will visit you soon and bring you more gifts from my travels.
--------------------------
Why must you be such a romantic? You have no need to buy me more gifts, I will be more satisfied with your affections. I look forward to your visit. I love you dearly.
-------------------------
George finally agreed to marry Clay after a year of the start of their courtship. The public was ecstatic, many well-wishers had traveled to the Kinoko Kingdom to wish the couple well.
Clayton moved to the place to be closer to his fiancé to help him with his royal duties, and George trusted him enough to let him handle certain parts of the kingdom.
The first few months were great, planning the wedding, and showering each other with gifts and affections as such, but soon the honeymoon phase started to fade, and slowly the public grew more afraid of the soon-to-be wedded couple.
George didn't understand completely why his kingdom had started to hate him, his advisors started to warn him about his fiancé and how he was not who George thinks he is, but he refuses to believe them, arguing how his fiancé would not ever lie to him.
People started to beg in front of the palace to give their money, land, or belongings back, George was so confused on why his people started to act like that, so he started to talk to them in his courtroom, and each would explain.
Almost everyone said the same story about how his fiancé started stealing from them and their respective families, manipulating them to trust him to get him a chance to take all their assets away and leave them with nothing.
---------------------------
"Your majesty, I am Phillip Craft, My family's assets were taken from us by the kingdom. We did no wrong, so, we did not understand the reason why. We later figured out that your fiancé had manipulated us...we wish not to ruin your relationship, and it is not my place to say how you should rule for that would be disrespectful but, I would want you to consider your relationship with your fiancé for he might destroy this kingdom" the man with orangish-blonde hair told him, he sighed and told him he would try and take care of it and he sent him off.
George soon started to spiral, he didn't know if his beloved fiancé would even do such a thing and betray him and his people, he didn't know who to believe, he didn't know who to trust, who to side with.
George tried asking his friend to help, but sadly to no avail.
"Karl, what must I do? Am I a terrible King to have my Kingdom suffer like this? Or am I a bad lover to my Clayton if I leave him?" George asked his friend as he was sobbing tears,
"George, you need not worry but follow your heart and brain. But you must not be hasty with your decision and decide wisely" his friend told him as he held him for comfort.
--------------------------
George started to investigate further and sooner the truth was revealed. Everything they had told him was true, Clay was not a man who had good intentions under that charming smile, he hurt people, old, poor, rich, even children, and he had no mercy.
George can no longer keep ignoring the truth, he can't keep defending his fiancé blindly, and keep hurting his kingdom, he decided to put a stop to this.
The night before their wedding, George went into his fiancé's chambers to end this, expecting him to be asleep but instead he was sitting in his armchair with a champagne glass in his hand. George stood there in the door in shock, gripping his dagger ever so tightly.
"I was expecting you...dearest." Clay said standing up to approach him,
"...Did you really do that?" George asked referring to the horrible insidious things Clay did to his people,
"...I'm not sure I have caught on..." he said, it was obvious he was bluffing, "Do not even try to be deceitful for I know everything you've done!" he exclaimed. Clay stayed quiet, shocked at George’s sudden outburst
"NOW YOU HAVE NOTHING TO SAY? TELL ME WHY WOULD YOU DO SUCH A THING TO BETRAY ME? HAD YOU EVEN EVER LOVED ME? FOR IF YOU DID YOU WOULDN'T HURT ME OR MY PEOPLE" George asked him, as angry tears fell from his eyes,
"No" Clay answered, "What?" he said, his voice breaking, "No, I never loved you," Clay said again, and more tears fell from George's eyes,
"Every single thing I did was a product of my deceitful plan to gain power," he said placing one of the glasses on a table, as he softly touches George's cheek, George backed away, his grip on the dagger much tighter now,
"I was surprised that you fell for my plan, I would have never thought of you as someone so biddable and weak-minded," he said as he sip from his glass of champagne, George stayed silent, as more tears fell from his eyes.
Clayton looked over to George's hand only to spot the dagger tightly gripped in his hand,
"Ah, I see...Well, aren't you going to proceed to kill me, dearest?" He said to him, "I genuinely loved you...I trusted you" George said to him, his heart heavy, "I didn't. I was greedy and I took a chance and it worked, and I'm not sorry for it" Clay answered him,
"Your heart is so cold and evil! You have no mercy for the people you hurt!" George told him holding up his dagger,
"Go ahead, kill me. You have no strength to..." Clayton said to was cut off by a stab in his heart, his eyes flickered to George's, they were dark and had no light, just pure anger, it was not the eyes he stared at that magical night."...your eyes are still beautiful, I never lied about that" Clayton said to George then his lifeless body fell to the ground,
George stood there silent until he finally realized what he had done, he fell to his knees, and he looked at his bloodied hand and the lifeless body of the man he once loved, terrified at what he had done he yelled for his advisors and guards.
--------------------------
George was consumed by grief, anger, and guilt, that it had started to control his life. In the months that passed after the death of his beloved, he never left his chambers, he never spoke about what happened that night after that, he never told, not even his best friend.
His engagement ring never left his finger.
Karl was worried for his friend's well-being, he didn't know how to help him, he wanted to so badly, he wanted to know what happened that night in that godforsaken chamber, he finally found out the answer but not the way he wanted to.
"Karl, come sit beside me," George said, his weak body can no longer move, so he was bedridden. Karl sat down beside his friend, wondering why he wanted him to do that,
"I feel my soul slipping away...you were a good friend, Karl" George said to him, his friend immediately looked at him in worry, holding his hand softly as tears fell and slid on his cheeks,
"You can't die yet! You can still recover! You have so much to live for!" Karl sobbed, "I can't choose when my time ends, good friend...the Goddess of death has spoken." George said to him with sadden smile, Karl looked at his friend and cried,
"I was holding the dagger..." George said quietly, Karl looked up at him, he had tears in his eyes and a look of guilt and sadness,
"What do you mean?" he asked his friend, "I was holding the dagger that was in his heart...I took his life and now my hands are always red in my eyes. I wish to not die keeping this from everyone" George said to his friend, Karl sat beside him in shock, holding him in his arms,
"Karl, can you promise me something?" George asked his friend, "What will it be?" Karl asked him,
"When I die, can you bury me beside the cherry blossom tree with him?" George asked him, Karl sat there in shock because of his request but he regained his composure and sighed, "Of course, George" Karl said, George smiled at him one last time and Karl watched as the sparkle of George's eyes leave signifying he had passed.
Karl did as his friend told him to, they buried George under the cherry blossom tree that he loved so much.
The place where George was buried grew the first mushroom, some said it signified his personality, how he look beautiful but he was someone not to be messed with, some said it symbolizes his chaotic life and how his life decayed after the guilt, anger, and sadness consumed his life, but either way we will never find out the truth, other than to hope that maybe in the future, he and his lover may be given another chance of love where there would no more be hurt and anguish, just them in their happily ever after.
-------------------------
Karl and George were walking around the SMP when they passed Pandora’s Vault, George suddenly stopped staring intensely at the building. Karl looked at George obviously concerned, and then he looked at George’s hands since he was fidgeting with it none stop.
”We should probably go back to the Kinoko Kingdom, George,” Karl told his friend, “Give me a second” George replied.
Karl nodded in understanding.
Suddenly, George asked Karl an oddly familiar question, and then he looked at George’s hands since he was fidgeting with it none stop. “Karl, do you ever wonder what happens in the future?”
He suddenly notices a very familiar ring; his eyes widen when he remembers. “George, where did you get that ring?” Karl asked his friend, who just kept staring at the building in front of them. “I think you know, Karl. I think you know” George said seriously, Karl stayed quiet because of his shock.
