Welding requires the skill for any welder. Welding introduces contaminates into the piping. 1. Identify the types of non-welded piping systems
The first step is to identify the types of non-welded piping systems available. TMI Retain Ring Flange - Used to join heavy wall pipes together bygrooving the outside of the pipe ends, slide the retain ring flange onto the pipe and snap in a retain ring into the groove. Slide the flanges forward and bolt together.

2. Understand the differences between different types of non-welded piping connection methods.
There are three (3) different types of non-welded piping connection methods, and each has its own advantages.
TMI 37-degree flare flange is commonly used for schedule 40 and 80 pipes for hydraulic and lubrication systems. The main advantage to this method is that it's quick and easy to fabricate.
TMI retain ring flange is used for heavy wall pipe such a schedule 160 and XXS pipes. Flaring is not an option for heavy wall pipes. Although it takes more time than flaring, it is much faster and cleaner than welding.
PYPLOK mechanically attached fittings can be used for a wider range of fluids and gases unlike the flange systems above. This is by far the fastest method to join steel pipe together.
