You stand before three doors.
The green door on the left is covered in intricate carvings of leaves, ferns, and vines, twisting across a surface that is cool to the touch. You can't properly identify what the door is made from, as the texture seems to be both glass and wood. On the top is a carving reminiscent of some kind of crest featuring the head of a deer over twisting vines and leaves. On the bottom panel is a large tree with twisting branches full of emerald leaves. Behind it is a large structure that looks like a castle, but may also be a mass of boulders. Under the tree is a little fox, looking up at the tree as if in reverence. If you lean in close to the door, you can smell the sweet scent of the forest, the undertones of leafy decay, and something spiced and cloying like incense. You can also hear the whisper of wind through branches, the crackle of twigs underfoot, and birdsong. The handle is, like the door, made of something between glass and wood. Touching it, you get the distinct sense that the door is trying to pull you in close and not let you go.
The blue door in the middle is topped with a carving of a compass rose. Closer inspection reveals that the compass appears to be moving, even though it is clearly part of the door. Below this is a caving of an anchor framed by a leaping porpoise and an octopus gripping the anchor. Like the compass, both animals move as you watch them, the porpoise appearing to leap higher and higher while the octopus grips the anchor tighter. Underneath this is a scene of a ship on the waves, the ship swaying back and forth and its sails rippling in an unseen breeze. This panel is flanked by sharp harpoons. Leaning in, you can smell salt on the wind, sun-warmed wood, and something sharp and metallic that you cannot immediately identify. You can hear the waves, the wind, the shriek of gulls, and the distant sound of singing. Touching the cold metal handle, you feel like there is a hand reaching out to take yours and pull you into the deep.
The red door on the right has a caving of a desert under a large sun. Below the rays of the sun, lizards, snakes, and other creatures scurry between the cacti and other desert plants. A tall dune spills shimmering sand below, and as you watch, you can see the shifting glimmer of the sand. Beneath this are three glyphs—an hourglass, a pitcher covered in intricate designs, and a grinning skull. Underneath the glyphs is a caving of two bats over a cave filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Arrow designs seem to beckon you to follow the bats below. Leaning in, you can smell the sweet scent of desert blooms, the smell of sun on hot stone, and the dampness of a cave. You can hear the hush of sand on the dunes, the yipping and hissing of creatures, and the gentle dripping of water in a cavern. Touching the handle, you feel as though you are being sucked in by the sand itself, unable to escape.
