ANNOUNCING THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES BIG BANG 2026!
Accepting works based on ANY part of The Vampire Chronicles, TVCBB26 is an event where artists are paired with fanfic writers to create collaborative fanworks.
(If you want to sign up as both an author and an artist, please fill out both forms. There is a beta reader section within artist/author sign-ups, so if you want to beta read as an existing participant there is no need to fill out the beta sign-ups)
FAQ
✦ Can I write about the books or movies? Absolutely! Bear in mind, it might be difficult to find an artist if your source is slightly more obscure, but any version is accepted.
✦ Can I write a crossover? Yes, if it is in-universe OR revolves around TVC characters being in the universe of a different canon. e.g., the three Lestat versions meeting would be fine, as would Loustat in The Hunger Games, but we draw the line where they start meeting focal characters, as this is, at its core, a TVC event.
✦ Can I submit multiple works? Yes, given you are able to complete all of them. You can also participate in several sectors, such as submitting a fic and a piece of art if you so wish. Of course you can't select your own work to make art for. Use the tvcbb or tvc big bang tags to connect to us and we'll reblog!
✦ Can I participate with a friend? Sort of. You can create a collaborative work, as in one fic you both write, but you cannot ask to be paired as an artist/writer duo. If you already have a friend to beta your work, that's absolutely fine. They do not need to sign up unless they are also submitting a fic or art.
✦ Can I post about my work? To an extent. You're encouraged to post about the event itself and your process as much as you like, but please try to keep the contents of your contribution a secret until October!
✦ What can I write about? Anything, as long as it is correctly tagged and adheres to other rules.
RULES
Generative AI cannot be used in any form.
Authors have 3-4 months to write a fic of minimum 5k words. Artists have 2-3 months to complete an artwork of whatever size or complexity they wish. Please only aim to create a piece the size you are confident you can complete so as to keep the event stress-free for you and the community!
If you feel you cannot complete your fic or have to drop out for any other reason, please let us know asap so participants can be repaired.
Art can be in any format - photography, drawing, painting, knitting - whatever comes to mind. You will work out the best way to bring a story to life with your author.
Participants must attempt to follow timeline guides to the best of their abilities to ensure the event runs smoothly, namely by submitting and replying to forms/templates on time so that there are no delays.
*Explicit or graphic art will not be posted or reblogged on this account to adhere to Tumblr's guidelines and respect those who follow the bang for G/T fics. It can be shared within a fic or however else you choose. Mature or explicit rated fics will contain a warning at the start of their promo posts.
TIMELINE
June 30 - Author sign-ups close
July 26 - Author briefs are sent to be filled out in time for pairings (all you need at this point in time is an idea of what your fic will be about and an estimated word count)
July 31 - Artist and beta reader sign-ups close, author briefs are due
August 1 - Author briefs are sent out to artists and beta readers for claims
August 7 - Pairings are made on a first come, first served basis
August 31 - Check-ins to verify artists have an idea of what their piece will be, and authors are on track to finishing in time (ideally should be past the halfway mark by this point)
September 1 - Promos begin to be posted in order of first replies to check-ins and posting schedule is developed based on date claims. Posting schedule is shared once all check-ins have been submitted. Changes can be made before October 1st.
October 1 - Event is a-go and authors can begin posting! You survived!
