Social conditioning. (by JDrift01)
Homophobia: Murder, corrective rape, conversion therapy, being disowned, losing your job, getting denied housing, harassment, etc
“Heterophobia”: being called a “straighty” on the internet.
Racism: Murder, police brutality, corrupt criminal justice system, not being hired for a job you’re qualified to do, denied housing, racial profiling, hate crimes, etc
“Reverse Racism”: being called a “whitey” on the internet.
Sexism: objectification, dehumanization, restrictive gender roles, sexual violence, economic inequality, disproportionate allocation of unpaid labor, devaluation of anything seen as feminine, et cetera.
Reverse sexism: people selling “male tears” mugs on etsy.
Transphobia: Murdered, disowned, sexually assaulted, poor medical care, not allowed to use public facilities, not allowed in homeless shelters, can be legally fired from jobs or kicked out of housing just for being trans, etc.
Cisphobia: Down With Cis T-shirts
I remember first learning that you can cry from any emotion, that emotions are chemical levels in your brain and your body is constantly trying to maintain equilibrium. so if one emotion sky rockets, that chemical becomes flagged and signals the tear duct to open as an exit to release that emotion packaged neatly within a tear. Everything made sense after learning that. That sudden stability of your emotions after crying. How crying is often accompanied by the inability to feel any other emotion in that precise moment. And it is especially beautiful knowing that it is even possible to experience so much beauty or love or happiness that your body literally can’t hold on to all of it. So what I’ve learned is that crying signifies that you are feeling as much as humanely possible and that is living to the fullest extent. So keep feeling and cry often and as much as needed
SHIT WHAT
Also let yourself cry. It really is a biochemical release valve to dump out all the chemicals that make you feel stuff.
I honestly think one reason men in western culture have so many problems is that we don’t let them cry, and literally their brains get stuffed with all this crap that doesn’t have a release valve. Men, please cry. You’ll feel better. It’s ok. You are not lesser for taking care of your health.
This is why tears from different emotions look different under an electron microscope. They’re literally made up of different things.
Happy tears are structurally different than sad tears than angry tears than overwhelmed tears etc.

blessed post
Millennial Sisyphus keeps entering all the information from his resume into the web form, only for it to delete everything when he tries to move to the next page. He just goes back and types it all up again, over and over again, forever, and he never gets a job.
Millennial Tantalus has been promised that his unpaid internship will become a paid position as soon as the company has space for him. Every week he sees their new job posting. Every week he asks his boss if he can have a real job. The boss shrugs apologetically and says he’ll just have to make do with being paid in experience a little longer. He goes back and keeps working, over and over again, forever, and he never reaches the fruits of his labors.
Millennial Persephone can’t get a job without a degree, but because she had to take out loans to pay for college, she must spend 1/3 of her life working just to pay them off.
Millennial Cassandra’s title is Social Media Coordinator, she was hired to be the expert, but every time she tries to explain the problems in her company’s social media decisionmaking, the managers don’t listen…and end up hiring expensive PR flacks to repair the damage to their reputation when things blow up exactly as she predicted.
Millennial Medusa uses multiple shades of primer and opaque foundation to cover the scars snaking across her face, hiding the bruises, aligning the asymmetry in her broken nose and jaw. Red matte on the lips, green shimmer on the lids. Flawless liner on the first try. She’s had lots and lots of practice. She films her transformation in secret for all to see and learn, and again, men are turned to anonymous stone faces screaming in horror. “Liar!” “Witch!” “Take her swimming on the first date!” These words do not discourage her. These words are a challenge. GlamGorgonXx posts another video.
Millennial Prometheus uploads another PDF to his site. He’s lost track of the printing and edition of this textbook. He knows they just rearranged some of chapters then charge 150 dollars per copy, and the professor wrote the book himself. the ZIP fills uploads successfully, and he starts uploading the next one. He isn’t afraid of the potential lawsuit. knowledge shouldn’t held out of reach like this.
Millennial Circe screenshots all the lewd messages she gets from men on online dating sites and posts them on her very popular Instagram along with their pictures and usernames. When people accuse her of attempting to destroy their reputations, she insists she’s just revealing them for the pigs they truly are.
Life problems I anticipated as a child:
- quicksand - ghosts
Life problems I did NOT anticipate as a child:
- the crushing sense of failure associated with botched social interactions.
Life in a nutshell. (via Horacio Garcia)
Someone who has been emotionally abused will:
• Constantly apologize • Hide their feelings in fear of upsetting you • Break down during small disagreements thinking it will explode • Need a lot of reassurance Please be patient, we are trying.
Or they may be
•irrationally defensive
•shut down in mid conversation when you thought everything was going well
•become aloof and distant
We all react differently and cope in our own way.
You never know what someone has been through, be patient with each other.
This made me ugly cry.
too real.
Jesus fucking christ, ow
The Japanese say you have three faces. The first face, you show to the world. The second face, you show to your close friends, and your family. The third face, you never show anyone. It is the truest reflection of who you are.

Today’s installment of why“but it has always been like this!” is a bullshit argument: @nitratediva lays down the law about the role of women in early Hollywood
I’m in a restaurant with my husband and child. We’re obviously a family. The waiter is taking our order. "For you, Sir?“ to my husband. "For you, Miss?” to me. Why does my husband consistently get the honorific title, but I get only the diminutive title? It happens to us at restaurants throughout my northern city. If I get a “Miss”, then he should get a “Mr.” If he gets a “Sir”, then I should get a “Ma'am” or “For the lady?” Actually, I’d prefer “Doctor”.
