I'M IN TEARS
really scared/excited about the green lighting thimble-julien-occtis-teor fight in the new trailer seemingly taking place over two separate episodes (they’re wearing different shirts). also we can’t see travis in one of those eps but i’m choosing to believe teor gets there later a la vaelus in the bar fight. because it’d be badass. but for safety everybody # please live
curious how the seekers are getting to dol-makjar within a reasonable amount of time for the convergence arc, considering i’m pretty positive the morning of the whole gala assassination/resurrection thing they’re still in the eternal night, and it took them like 5 days of travel to get there from dol-makjar. literally my only good idea is ‘get a big eagle again’.’ i hope they get a big eagle again.
you ever see a woman slit a guys throat and start hearing wedding bells?
happy thursday!
just woke up to find out we got confirmation both hal & thjazi were younger than they should have been when they joined the war of axe & vine (‘a little young’ in hal’s case, ‘quite young’ in thjazi’s)… i literally planned this. also if we do the math with hal being 19 in the year 42 and the war of axe and vine starting in the year 37, hal could have been about 14 years old when he joined. and thjazi is at least a few years younger than hal. so.
Holly for resilience and eternal life
thinking about flashback mayali being stronger than azune & flashback mayali not saying a thing and just holding azune’s hand while he begs to stay with their parents & current mayali throwing herself in front of a poison blade for azune & current mayali affectionately calling azune her little brother and telling him she remembers before making the difficult choice to leave him again. thinking about azune who has made himself into someone who is meant to take the hit for the people he cares about and mayali who has always been the person to take the hit for azune. because she’s his big sister. i feel sick to my stomach.
everything is so much worse and so much better than i could have ever imagined. brennan lee mulligan you crazy bastard i love you
What is up with the Mag'nessons?
So it turns out that Murray IS a Mag'nesson after all. However, it is clear that the Mag'nessons are not who they appear to be.
Here are the relevant facts:
Murray described herself to Tallbarrel, her very old friend, as "a shitty little squatter dwarf from the gutter" at the time that they met, and Tallbarrel saved her from that fate. She also clearly has personal experience of poverty (I could list examples all day but how she relates to Demodus is clearly as one poor person in academia to another).
Murray used to be much dirtier than she currently needs to be, as described during her encounter with Pimley Morn. She was doing her job as bursar of the Penteveral in a dishonest and criminal way from the start, even if it wasn't for her personal enrichment, and she thinks she's a "shit person" likely because of this.
In episode 24, she quotes her mother saying "Love flies out the window when money walks out the door" and then explains to Azune that the saying is about divorce.
In episode 24, Brennan says to Marisha, "you're aware that the Mag'nessons haven't dealt in mining in over ten years. They do something else now," without specifying what.
So here's my new Murray Mag'nesson theory, based on these points: she did come from a gem mining family, but at some point before her Hucklewend, the mines ran dry and her family went into crisis. Her parents divorced. Murray, her mother, and whichever other family members were reduced to whatever gems they had left in inventory and had no new source of income on the horizon, much like Orus Blade right now.
When Murray met Tallbarrel and the other wizards, she was genuinely excited by what they were doing, but she also saw an opportunity to get herself a more stable position. At this point, Murray started getting herself and what remained of her family into some kind of criminal or shady operation, and she laundered some of that money by financing the Penteveral.
i’ve been thinking about what the hell the upcoming schemers combat could have going on ever since the schemers trailer dropped and there were clips of that combat where like everyone was standing up and moving at various points and (assuming that is indeed from the presumed upcoming gala combat) now it’s like. oh okay. they’re surrounded by npcs that are far more powerful than them both magically & socially. we know one of said npcs has cast the goddamn wish spell before. it’s in public. it’s a political assassination. one wrong move could get someone killed. no wonder they’re not chill about it.
lots of great character stuff from last night’s episode but brennan’s “[thjazi] didn’t give you the full picture, and last night, you all decided it was safer for nobody to know too much, so maybe you’re like him after all” was genuinely so good it made me want to stand up and cheer.
yes argosia & the halovar doing a king gus assassination attempt bad but have we considered this means we’ll almost definitely get to see one of the hounds of the king in combat
the concept of getting schemers level up vid -> city council of darkness ep 4 -> ccod ep 4 adventuring party -> cr4 episode 24 back to back… life can be so beautiful
Seekers table old west au that no one asked for but me 😌
I wanted to try and incorporate some of the canon designs into the fits but Occtis ended up looking p similar to canon cus I couldn’t imagine him as a cowboy 😭 (also a full body thaisha piece is coming trust 🙏)
“there’s no new schemers table this week” incorrect! city council of darkness episode 3
azune never attempting to dance around difficult questions or topics has endeared me to him so much. ask julien if he has a death wish and ask bolaire if he’s a person or a thing. tell murray you worry she might start to hate you because of the institution you work for and tell hal you think thjazi’s life was worth a thousand of yours. get to the heart of the issue and tell everyone how you really feel regardless of whether or not those feelings are easily palatable. every chance for honesty is a privilege. don’t ever take it for granted.
so, the facts:
- king gus is originally a rebel & an outlaw from the war of axe & vine
- during the war of axe & vine, timmony split from argosia. this is only like 26 years ago. it’s in living memory.
- it’s a popular rumor that king gus sent money & supplies to argosian rebels during the falconers rebellion.
- king gus is currently in dol-makjar, and this seems to be a sudden & unplanned visit. the king’s sister referred to “challenging times” and one of the king’s hounds mentioned current strife.
- an argosian envoy is currently being hosted by the einfasens while king gus is in town. this indicates some degree of closeness or trust with the sundered houses, or at least house einfasen.
- the einfasens & halovars are seemingly close allies.
- the candescent creed is currently fueling the idea of religious uprising against the king in timmony. they have also just converted the earl of gormalay to their faith.
- this talk of king gus being a tyrant started after he entertained audience with members of the falconer’s rebellion.
- trimus tachonis & ophelia seremai did one of those ‘rich person inside joke’ laughs about the concept of the argosian delegation visiting king gus
- the argosian king from during the war of axe & vine was called a tyrant by sir hawkins. this is speculation, but if that king is still in power, he’s probably is not a big king gus fan. and even if he’s not still in power, his successor likely might not be The Best, morally speaking. we’ll see. we really know next to nothing about the country. anyways.
hypothesis: house halovar (& einfasen?) might try to get rid of king gus and keep their name out of it by cooperating with and/or manipulating the sentiments of the visiting argosian delegation, which could be easy considering the argosian civil war that led to timmony’s creation only ended approximately 26 years ago. this could end up creating a gap in timmony’s leadership & an opportunity for the halovars to utilize the pro-candescent creed anti-king gus sentiment they have fostered in timmony and get a religious leader put in gus’s place, turning a relatively new country that seems to be undergoing some extent of instability & turmoil into a candescent creed theocratic state of sorts while also getting rid of a leader of a regional power that might try to help out the people of dol-makjar as the sundered houses attempt to turn it into a fascist state/do whatever their end goal here is.
conclusion: i definitely need more information here on argosia so hey maybe next schemers ep can we please see what’s up with the argosian delegation especially considering brennan made a point to say there was a lionfolk diplomat with them. the fate of a country may depend on it & also more lionfolk is always a win
