this is a sideblog for me to post fanfics or whatever comes to mind, probably mostly fanfiction tho!
I'm still learning so writing might feel a bit stiff or whatever but I'm trying.
Asks are open!
I post only for John Constantine (hellblazer) atm but I might change it in the future.
I tend to write at night and correct and edit the next morning, so wording can change from a day to the next one. I also tend to write without specificating gender of the reader.
I'll go updating this to put the links of the things I write.

Was it weird to be so enamoured by someone you didn't know? Someone you hadn't even exchanged a word with, you just happened to take the same train.
You felt lucky about having to commute to your job, after all, since you started to notice the "dashingly handsome stranger of the train" as you had labeled the blond in your head, you had your eyes practically trained on him.
Subtlety was there, of course, but those times he got to sit besides you...
Well, let's say you had practically counted all the freckles, wrinkles or other imperfections of his face.
However, as dreamy as it sounded, he didn't seem to be on the train today. You sighed, not surprised, you had picked the train at a different hour, and on the weekend no less, a small self-indulgent trip to the mall to get a book you had been thinking about lately, and perhaps grabbing some ice cream in the way home, you deserved a small treat that compensated all that week of hard work.
After a well earned book, and just maybe an extra CD that was almost begging for you to pick it up, you found yourself sitting at the station besides the mall's car park, practically hugging your belongings. The train always took forever to arrive, in fact, you could count with the fingers of one hand all the times it had arrived at the designated hour.
You closed your eyes. And, it's not like you intended to, but your mind wandered to the unnamed man again.
Most of the times you had seen him, he wore a trench coat, occasionally a blue suit, which made him seen even more delightful, if more was even possible, those pristine blue eyes that seemed to swallow you whole in the sadness that somehow had made a home of them, those curls you longed to run your digits across, and-
Your train of thought was interrupted by the whistle and the metallic creaks of the real deal. The train had arrived.
You simply got on the machine and let yourself fall into one of those uncomfortable seats.
At least you could use the time to start your new book, or that's what you would do if you hadn't been starstruck as soon as you went inside.
The handsome stranger, just sitting a few rows ahead of you.
If destiny existed you would kiss it right now out of sheer gratitude.
Your heart jumped in your chest. What was that? Is he walking towards you? He definitely is. Oh.
Oh.
He was so close now, had he noticed your staring? Was he about to call you out for ogling him? Is this the end of your one sided crush?
He sat in front of you and smirked, letting his teeth show, not what anyone would call perfect nowadays but it was fine, natural, charming even.
"'ello, luv, do ya take this route often?" You looked at him, still a bit taken aback, he cleared his throat at your lack of a response.
"Name's Constantine, John Constantine" The man, now known as John, extended his hand towards you.
You shook his hand and told him your name, then nodded.
"Well, yes, when I go to the mall, on the weekends, sometimes, to buy books, or check the store, or..." You chuckled in an awkward manner at your overexplaining, nerves seemed to have taken hold of you.
"Or stuff, you know"
John laughed, perhaps entertained by your nervousness "Sure, stuff, darlin', I totally know"
You tried to give him a smile, he was laughing, maybe you hadn't fumbled as bad as you thought.
Time seemed to fly talking with Constantine, he was as charming as you had found yourself often fantasizing about, or maybe you were cheerful about being able to finally maintain a conversation with him that wasn't only in your head, who knew.
"Ah, fuck" You said as you stood up, "The next one is my stop"
You tried to get away from the seat as gracefully and fast as you could, causing the lower part of your legs to brush against John's knees, whether he didn't notice or didn't want to comment on it, you couldn't tell by his silence.
"Will I see ya again, luv?" He asked you with certain jolliness in his voice as you scurried to the sliding door, you simply gave him a thumbs up.
The train wheels groaned against the tracks as it came to a stop.
You pressed the button.
Nothing.
Again.
Nothing.
You pressed again, faster, with certain anguish in your movements.
Nothing.
The little ring that indicated that the train had started up again and the doors were now closed could be heard. Then you looked up.
Out of service.
Of all the doors in the train, had you picked the only one that didn't work?!
The universe must be pulling a prank on you. You walked back to the seat you had shared with the blond. He was still there, he had watched the whole scene unfold and seemingly was trying not to cackle, in front of you at least. You sat down defeated.
"Well, 'ello, love, long time no see, ennit?" The amusement reached his eyes, causing the skin around them to crease in the corners.
"Shut it" You huffed, John raised his arms in surrender "I'll just get off in the next stop, wait for the train to come back in the opposite direction and then take another one home and this time go down in my stop"
He hummed and shrugged his shoulders "Sounds complicated"
A few minutes later, you had done exactly as you said, you got down in the next stop, a place in the middle of nowhere in which the only trace of society was a small chimney vomiting white smoke.
A familiar voice from behind you reached your ears.
"Looks out of a bloody fairytale, ye? All this green and rocks" John whistled, "Perfect place to catch ticks"
You turned and looked at him, you might have huffed at him just a few moments prior, but if miracles existed, you were sure this was one, you could talk with him just a bit more.
Wait.
No, no miracles, why had he even got down with you? He didn't seem to have any intention of doing so when you two were on the train.
"So, John..." You scanned him from head to toe, while you were musing over your own thoughts, he had managed to light a cigarette that he was now smoking "Was this your stop?"
He took a drag and exhaled the smoke, he shook his head "No, just wanted to keep ya company darlin'"
Your gaze fixated on him as you raised a brow, in the short while you two had talked, the man was proving himself to be a conundrum for sure.
Who goes down at the wrong stop willingly?
He was weird.
But it was a good kind of weird, or at least you hoped, he seemed interested enough in you and you surely were interested in him.
You couldn't help but chuckle as soon as you were out of your daze.
"Thanks, John, my knight in shining armour"
John made, what you guessed it was an over dramatic knightly pose and grinned, "'course, luv, fightin' against your boredom is my greatest pleasure in life"
He simply sat down on a bench and waited for you to do the same so he could listen you talk as he smoked.
Since John Constantine intermingled with your life, everything became a tad more chaotic, not necessarily fast paced, but messy? Mess practically ruled your every moment now, at least since a few months after he decided to go down with you at the wrong station, something you still thanked the universe for, and give you his number.
Today, was no exception.
"John, love, your rail pass is out of money"
A couple moments had passed since you slid your own card over the scanner and went through the turnstile, now you simply observed John as his pass refused to cooperate. Mocking beeps taunting him and his lack of preparation.
He groaned and clicked his tongue, "It's fine, luv, just... pass is a tad crumbled, aye?"
Another try.
Beep.
Pass not accepted. Please go to the nearest ticket office.
Beep.
Suddenly, he jumped over the turnstile with as much grace as he could muster.
John gave you a lopsided smile as he dusted off his coat.
"See? Told ya it worked"
As if sensing your protests he locked your lips with his in a quick peck before you could utter a word and ushered you to walk to the station with a hand on your lower back.
He guided you until you were sitting besides him as you waited for the train to arrive to the station, his hand on your thigh.
"John?" He turned his attention to you "Yeah, darlin'?"
You grabbed one of the ends of the belt of his trench coat and started to loop it between your fingers.
"What if the ticket inspector walks by?"
He laughed at your concerns and pinched your cheek "We simply walk in the other direction"
"I told you this would happen" You huffed as you looked at Constantine.
Indeed the ticket inspector was walking around the train, asking for everyone's tickets, and of course he happened to check on you two first. After the initial surprise, what was no shock was finding you and John outside the train in an unknown station, he was lucky you weren't as petty as to leave him wandering on his own since you did have the ticket.
"Now where are we supposed to be?"
"Well, but luv, who are we to say no to a little bit of tourism and a dirty motel's bed?"
"Bit of lovin' will take that frown out of yer face?"
John got closer to you and circled his arms around your body. A little kiss on your face here and another one there...
To him? The perfect distraction tactic to ever exist. An amazing way of spending the day. Walking a bit, chatting... and then, maybe if you were both in the mood for it, a steamier night.
If it didnβt happen?
Cuddles were also nice, falling asleep with the other in your arms sounded as good, or even better.
Perfect plan, no flaws whatsoever.
To you? Well, you still were mad at him.
Idiot blond.
At least you would spend the evening together, even if he was still pretty much a bastard.
You rolled your eyes and laced your hand with his.
"You're not off the hook yet"
John smiled, raised your hand slightly near his mouth and kissed your knuckles as if these little moments and you being angry at him were the best things to ever happen in his life.
going back to you for your teachings or something else?
a/n: part two! the header is similar but oh well.
warnings: even if I use neutral pronouns this one if more oriented towards fem! reader. Containts smut! More than the previous part. Soft moment at the end! Also first time writting smut so sorry if it isn't that good.
He had found his way into your store again, in fact, he spent a lot of time there lately.
Or in your flat.
Or with you, really.
Neither of you had adressed what happened the night of the gig, but that didn't mean anything had to change.
You teaching him about the world of the spirits, he inviting you to see him play, a bit of snogging at the backstage in the meanwhile...
Just playful touches here and there but nothing below the belt.
And to think that if he hadn't been interrupted you two could just have...
John shook his head, not the place or time to think about that. He would prefer to eat a handful of dirt than popping a boner in the middle of your shop. If he did, he knew you would put him through so much teasing and humillation that he could be forty and you would still keep going.
He glanced to the chaos scattered in front of him, John was sure you got more and more things each day that passed. How could you even pile it all was a mystery.
"Darliiin'" John called out to nowhere in particular "If ya don't come out in five seconds I'm gonna start goin' through yer shite with me dirty hands..."
He hummed, no response, you wanted it like that?
So be it.
John outstretched his hand towads various jars that contained different varieties of herbs and other plants.
"Three"
"Two..."
"Almost one, luv!" He yelled, making sure you would hear him.
When he was about to grab one jar, your voice stopped his movement.
"Don't you even dare, John Constantine!" You were puffing for air, you had most likely ran down the stairs to prevent him from touching your things.
John raised his arms in mock defead and smirked "I think I'm havin' a dijΓ vi, luv"
"Hmm, whatever, fancy word in French this, fancy word in French that, it's all the same" He shrugged and looked at you.
"Not gonna give little old me a welcome kiss?"
"You know I perform better when ya do" He wriggled his eyebrows. That stupid habit he had got of wriggling them whenever he said a double entendre.
Well, if now he wanted it like that, two could play this game.
"Oh, you do?" You asked with feigned innocence "Because if I remember correctly, last time you didn't perform a fuck, all about being bricked but nothing about actually following with it"
John's cheeks flushed slightly, so you weren't going to let it go?
"Shut it, shut yer trap"
He huffed and sat down in a chair, he ran his hands through his hair, he seemed a bit bothered. That hadn't been his fault, you couldn't hold him accountable for it.
John leaned his head on the table and started to move a pencil that was over it with one of his fingers. Up and down. He seemed distracted by something.
Up.
Down.
Up.
Do-
He jolted when he felt your hand ruffling his hair "Oi! Careful with the hairdo, ya bloody git!"
You chuckled slightly, he huffed, he seemed a bit more lively now, even if it was out of annoyance towards you. He tried to comb his blond hair with his fingers as he dedicated you the best frown he could muster.
"Didn't like it, Johnny-boy?"
He stood up and looked at you "Don't ya start"
You chuckled and pinched his side, John swatted your hand at that "Oh, but why Constantine? Afraid of not being up to the expectations?"
That's it, he was done with it, he saw what you had tried to do there. He grabbed you by the hips with a certain effort, you yelped. His body trembled slightly, he wasn't toned enough to lift a person by any means.
"John! John Constantine, down!"
John had a smug look on his face as he tried not to let the effort be seen through "I'm not yer bloody dog, luv"
Still it wasn't hard to get free from his hold. His arms didn't have enough strength to hold you still and in the air at the same time.
He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms and muttered something along the lines of, "Killjoy, ya are not fun"
You sighed and looked at him as you dusted off your clothes.
"Are you gonna tell me now what's going through your mind?"
"No"
"You-" You groaned and shook your head "Alright, have it your way, why did you come then?"
"Are ya fuckin' daft? Weren't ya goin' to teach me yer spiritual shite?"
He huffed. He was not about to admit that maybe he has been missing your presence over the last few days, because yeah, he still had to deal with your teachings and what not, but he probably wouldn't bother as much if it weren't you the one teaching him. He had never been one for studying after all.
You looked at John. Like really looked at him, his usual messy appeareance that was strangely put together today, the passive agressive talking he used to cover when he didn't want to talk about something. He was even wearing that belt you said you had liked when you went to one of his gigs. He notices the little things, even if he comes out as a big asshole, you know that.
A small smile made itself known on your lips, you placed a hand over his arm. John raised a brow.
"C'mon, you were here to learn no? You're clearly not gonna learn through osmosis so move that ass"
He started to trail after you when you walked around the insides of your shop. His eyes might have automatically moved down a couple times.
Maybe.
John couldn't avoid it. Not like he really wanted to.
His mind keep replaying over and over the impulse of putting his hand down in your rear and whispering to your ear "Ya have a good arse 'ere, beaut, mind if I-"
No, no, he had to will the thought away, he couldn't just... he felt it twitch and clenched his teeth. No, mind bad, not now, he wouldn't withstand the embarrassment of getting hard at literally nothing.
Luckily for him, you two reached the room in which you usually performed those "spiritual communions"
You had told him more than once that it would be better to actually do it outside, in touch with the nature but since he was still a newbie you preferred to do it under a more controlled environment.
Well, at least the room had a plush rug. You took a seat down and he followed suit.
John crossed his legs. It hurt slightly but his ego would surely hurt more.
"Remember what you have to do?"
He nodded "Yeah, of course I do darlin', who do ya think I am? I have to relax and close me eyes, strong emotions disturb the buggers"
Easier said than done, the last time he had done this he didn't have the start of a raging hard-on confinated in his trousers. Still he closed his eyes and waited for your hands to touch him.
You positioned yourself behind him and held his hands like so many other times, but this time his breath hitched, "Relax" you had mumbled, it always felt electrifying, all his senses in alert. But today? Today he felt as if a fire crawled over his very skin and nested itself in every pore.
John closed his eyes as hard as he could and when he opened them again it was as if he was somewhere else, it honestly looked different.
"Welcome to the spiritual world John, spirits are a bit ruffled today but they let you in, so" You smiled, you two were certainly not in your shop anymore. Well, his body surely was but right now? Everything feels lighter, he wasn't tied to the confines of the flesh, and you weren't either.
It was experiencing everything at the same time, everywhere at once, but the heat still coated his body.
Tossers. John was sure that if the spirits had decided to let him in magically today it because they knew how he felt, and now congrats! You can suffer it up to a tenfold.
"It's... I'm..." He looked at his hands and tried to touch his body, or what it was his body for the moment. It was pretty much himself, he looked down for a second, and he was still? Yup.
"How are ya feeling?" John glanced at you. He needed to know whether it was only him or if it affected you as well.
You shrugged "Doing alright, why?"
You scanned him over. Oh.
He turned his body around slightly, he knew you had seen it.
"Not a bloody fuckin' word" He grumbled out.
You chuckled "It's okay, John, happens sometimes, strong emotions tend to cause this" You put a hand on his shoulder, he groaned at the feeling and put his hands in your hips.
"Why are ya perfectly fine then? It's not like, we... when we snog..." He huffed, words didn't come to him anymore. Didn't matter, he crashed his lips with yours hungrily. He trapped your bottom lip with his teeth and pulled on it.
John tried to work in your clothes, pretty much impatiently as he humped your leg with his noticeable bulge. He moaned in your ear both at the friction and at the fact he wasn't able to peel the clothes off you.
"How can I? Luv?"
You looked at him and laughed "It doesn't work like that here, John"
"You have actually know how to control it a bit"
He seemed frustrated when an idea struck him.
"Back, back, I wanna go back, ya and me"
You laughed, if you were honest is not like you would mind to go back with him.
It wasn't like in the spiritual world but he was still pretty much horny and had some steam to blow off.
John pressed his clothed crotch against the middle of your tights, and you squeezed his waist with them.
He slid his hands over your chest and started to massage your breasts. Soon enough decided that the shirt was getting in the middle so after looking down at you first as if to ask for permission, he took it off.
John glanced at your tits and moved his hands over them again, making sure to rub your nipples. You arched your back at that.
"Not fair... you're more clothed that I am"
You didn't need to ask twice. Shirt? Gone. Belt? He was fumbling furiously with the buckle.
You moved his hands away, snickered and undid the belt, he quickly undid the zipper.
It ached, John felt it in his boxers and you well, you saw it, you would be blind as not to.
"Now who's more clothed than who, darlin'?"
He smirked, you didn't know how he had it in himself to try to be cocky in a moment like this, he was practically naked and you could see him hard. Twitching, waiting for some kind of touch.
John didn't take much on getting rid of the clothes that covered the lower part of your body, leaving you only in your panties.
He slid them down slowly off you and bared your cunt to the world, for him to see.
You looked at his eyes, he seemed bothered and lustful, you were sure you looked similar and stretched your hands to slid his boxers from him. He deserved freedom too after all.
His cock was hard, he pressed agaisnt your now bare middle and started to kiss your neck intending to leave a mark.
A moan escaped your mouth, which only served to get him going even more, biting and sucking harder, moving his lips to your sensitive nips. Kissing licking, enjoying he had as much time as he wanted now.
"John..." You gasped as you buckled your hips up against his, he slotted himself in position.
As soon as his cock slipped inside your pussy you moved your hands to his back and digged your nails on it, he groaned at the sensation.
"Keep going..."
The sound of flesh against flesh was only interrupted by either heavy breathing or moans from both ends.
"Wouldn't stop for the world darlin'" He said as he tried to keep peppering kisses over your chest "Not when ya-" John moaned as he felt your walls squeeze his dick. He felt himself whimpering and pulled out despite what he had said a moment prior.
He spilled himself either on you or on the poor rug that will surely have to go directly to the washing machine.
You hadn't finished yet, he noticed, so he lowered his face down, intending to make you enjoy yourself as well. Not like you wouldn't enjoy anyways even if you didn't finish, but you appreciated the thought.
You groaned and put your hands in his hair as he lapped his tongue against your shivering cunt, he could practically taste himself as he licked and sucked, and shortly after, with a moan you squeezed and let go of his blond strands.
Warmth came out of you.
He went up and smirked triumphally, your juices still all over his mouth.
You chuckled at the sight. He laid down with you again, snuggling closer, still nude, but the moment of passion was wearing down slightly. What was left now was more, intimate in a way.
"You okay?"
He raised a brow, maybe a bit surprised of being asked that.
John smiled "I'm feeling fantastic, and ya, darlin'?"
You nodded and moved your hand to his torso, caressing it in circles.
"I'm more than fantastic"
He laughed. "Oh yeah? I'm that amazin' as a lover?"
You hummed, an affectionate expression adorning your face.
"Yeah, I think love is exactly what I'm feeling right now"
John looked at your face for a long while and finally snuggled against you. He nuzzled his cheek against your face.
Not even the thickest of the furs could salvage his skin from the unrelenting cold that threatened to devour him whole. It looked pretty on paper, the white snow covering the mountains, but right now he wasn't sure he could even blink.
He found himself shivering under the jacket that had stopped providing warmth long ago. So when the tavern came into view he swore he would kiss the floor of it as soon as his lips unfreeze.
John took a seat as near as possible of the chimney that served at the heart of the place, a cup of ale in hand, he listened to the drunk patrons as he started to drink as well.
It warmed the insides, no?
"Exactly as I tell you mate! Another lad disappeared, the third one this month!" John seemed curious by the conversation between two pretty much tipsy guys that was unfolding next to him.
He leaned slightly forward in a sneaky attempt of getting a better position to eavesdropping.
"That mountain is cursed, and there is an evil spirit that feeds on us humans, you shouldn't get closer to that place unless you have a dying wish!"
When the other guy muttered something that John hadn't heard, the first one shook his head frantically.
"No! You mustn't go near, there is no treasure waiting for you there, only death!"
John scoffed, people were foolish enough to believe in old tales as easily as that, he knew spirits existed, but they weren't going to lurk around in a village lost between the snow in gods know where.
He rolled his eyes, disappointed by the now seemingly uninteresting story and went back to his drink. Although, a word still lingered in his mind like an itch he couldn't scratch.
Treasure.
It wasn't like it would be anything more than ice and cold up there, but honestly? He wouldn't say no to money.
The next morning, after spending a much needed night of rest in the town's local inn, he went towards the plaza to stock himself with everything he could need.
Food, water, herbs and potions...
A wink or two always did the trick for a discount, if he had the charm, he was going to use it for his advantage.
John took a look at the mountain in front of him, if he turned around just now he could simply finish what he had come to do here, and go home, like if nothing ever happened, no more cold, no more anything.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, the cold burnt his lungs more than smoke could ever do.
It felt disgustingly familiar.
John stepped outside the entrance to the snow covered village, mountain in sight, he went forward.
He felt as if he was dying, his skin flushed from the cold, his lungs about to give up on him, again, the jacket as thick as it was, it wasn't doing much to keep him from the cold.
Why had he done this again? Didn't he learn from yesterday how horrible everything had felt before arriving somewhere close to civilization?
His fingers wouldn't flex, his body was basically now moving on its own, he wasn't sure where he was, or where to go, the only thing John knew was that the frozen wind was biting his face and black specks had started to appear in the corners of his eyes.
He was going to die in a frozen land, alone, away from everything he knew, the animals would eat his remains and the earth would claim the rest of his decaying body.
Alone in a white covered land.
At least the scenery was pretty.
John felt his psyche slipping, each step he took it felt like his consciousness was shattering like a thin layer of ice over a lake.
John opened his eyes, no sight of snow to be seen.
He stood up and looked around him, trying to assert where he was now, the last he remembered was being out in the mountains.
Now he was... somewhere else.
It looked like a clearing of some sort, grass, trees, a small lake surrounded by pebbles.
How could this be anywhere near that icy mountain?
John had to be delirating, yes, that's it, he was still in the mountain, but his probably feverish mind had conjured this hallucination for him.
He walked over the lake shore, he looked at his reflection. There were melted snowflakes over his face.
Neat stunt hallucination, even nailed this down.
He raised his gaze. That's when it saw it.
Over a rock, with a gold comb, brushing its hair.
Hair that seemed long enough to cover a person, then it seemed to grow shorter, larger, shorter, it seemed like it melted with the water that surrounded it only to grow back again and then go.
A creature, naked?
No.
Yes.
No.
He shook his head, he couldn't tell.
It seemed ethereal.
It had stopped combing its hair, it was looking at him.
Was the spirit the townsfolk had said real? But why? It didn't make sense for a spirit, or whatever you were, to be here.
"Are all humans this ungrateful?" You huffed, parted your gaze away from him as if offended by his mere presence and went back to comb your hair "The least you would expect if you saved someone's life from freezing to death is a thank you"
You rolled your eyes.
John blinked several times, he wasn't used to being speechless. You had saved his life? He wasn't dead and hallucinating?
"Name's Constantine, John Costantine," He muttered, a bit taken aback still "Thanks for savin' me life"
Your gaze relaxed a bit, you put the comb away and it disappeared, as if it was never here "That's better"
A tilt of your head, you seemed curious of him, or at least you weren't outright threatening him.
"Are you hungry, John Constantine?"
John laughed and shook his head "Ya don't have to say me full name every time ya know? John works just fine"
"Are you hungry John?" You huffed when you repeated the question.
He was about to say no as he opened his bag, going through it to find the food he had bought before.
Soaked, the snow must have ruined it. He sighed and nodded.
You stood up from the rock you were perched in and took a step into the water, then another and another, until you were in front of him.
It was strange, John felt as if he could just extend your hand and touch you, but at the same time, somehow he knew that if he did his fingers would go through you, like a liquid slipping through his fingers.
He refrained himself from touching. You on the other hand seemed almost thrilled about feeding a human. Was this really the evil spirit?
John cleared his throat to catch your attention, you had turned your back on him, probably to look for things to offer him.
"Ya see a lot of humans around 'ere?"
You shook your head, you weren't looking at him, too focused on the task at hand, "No, you're the first one I see in a while"
He raised a brow. No? Three men had disappeared in the last month and he was the first human you saw in a long time?
Something didn't add up.
Suddenly you turned around, with something in your hands.
Green, slimy, wet...
You weren't thinking about making him eat algae, were you?
As if sensing his reluctance you hummed "Humans don't eat this?"
John shrugged "Some do, but not really my first choice for a meal, darlin'" He smirked, trying to soften the fact that he had just refused your hospitality as disgusting as it was.
A frown took a hold of your face "So what do you eat, you... darlin'?" You poked his stomach as you said that.
John chuckled, you had just tried to mimic the word he had just used on you, his way of saying it even. Perhaps you now thought it was a common name calling between humans.
He looked at the crystal clear water of the lake. It didn't seem farfetched that there were fishes living around the area. He could try that.
"Do ya know what a fish is?"
You nodded and before he could say anything else you banished under the water. Your figure mingled with the lake, not even a single ripple in the water could be seen.
John sat down near the shore and waited for your return, grabbing a pebble, plucking some loose strands of the grass... He sighed and laid down in the grass, looking up, it seemed sunny, with the sky as blue as it could possibly be.
It was odd, where was he even supposed to be?
He felt droplets falling and slid down his face, he found you looming over him, a tad too close for comfort.
John managed to wriggle away from your hovering presence and sat up still.
You had a fish in your hands. Great. You understood what those were.
He watched with disgust as you suddenly sunk your fingers into the flesh of the poor animal, tearing it open and bringing a chunk of raw fish to his mouth.
Gods, the smell was surely something else, he moved his head away, his gaze moving to the fish to your face "Not sure I can eat it raw, luv, unless ya want me pukin' all over yer pretty lake"
Your demeanor softened, as much as that bubbling excitement could be held behind, you lowered your hand, no longer trying to push the fistful of raw meat past his lips.
"You don't eat raw" The deadpanned look that took a hold of your face was surely something else.
John felt his stomach being poked again "You humans are weak, weak and soft, can't even digest fish"
You rolled your eyes "Who can't even eat fish?"
He laughed, and pushed your hand away "I can eat fish, darlin', but cooked in a fire, ever 'eard of that?"
"Stupid human, I know what fire is, go a grab some twigs so your puny self can eat"
John wasn't sure why he had decided to come back after the first time, actually he wasn't sure how either, he just wandered into the snow and after passing out, he was back in the lake you called home.
He has been coming back for a couple of times, wandering into the white and fainting in a repetitive cycle.
Fading out so often probably wasn't good for him.
Hells, doesn't matter, he had been through worse.
And he somehow felt drawn towards you. He didn't know why.
He had come to learn a lot of things about you and your "realm", about how basically it was your own magic creating this space, separated from the snow. How there wasn't any treasure and the people that died over the course or the last month simply were people that, like him, wandered into the freezing cold but weren't as lucky to come back.
John had also learnt to look at you with other eyes. More... tender, affectionate. He could be at peace here, no magic or creatures apart from you. And you not expecting anything from him?
It was tranquil.
It felt nice.
You on the other hand also were drawn towards him, albeit in a different manner. John supposed it was because either you felt alone, after all a couple of fishes and bugs don't make that much company. Or, because you were curious about him, given how you looked at him all over, practically counting every hair in his head.
It was a bit overwhelming maybe, but you weren't doing it out of malice, John very much knew that.
You found yourself with your head in his lap, giggling about "how warm blooded and squishy humans are" when you looked at him, right into his eyes.
"John?" You muttered as you traced circles absentmindedly on his thigh.
He looked down at you, his hand on your back, the other one bringing the pipe to his lips as he smoked "Yeah, luv?"
"Are you old for a human?"
Well, whatever he was expecting to be questioned about, his age wasn't part of it. He shook his head as if trying to redirect his train of thoughts, then nodded.
"I suppose I could be considered bloody friggin' old, yes"
John grinned and pinched your cheek.
"What? Afraid of the poor human kickin' the bucket? Oh, who are ya gonna torment and splash water on when I'm gone?!"
He was laughing, you were not. John could sense your serious demeanour, he wasn't dumb, or blind. He put off his pipe.
His laughter died down and went back to caress your back.
"Hey, not gonna leave any time soon, this old sod still has at least twenty years in him, ya ain't gettin' rid of him so easily"
John tried to smirk, but it morphed into a smile, perhaps trying to comfort you a bit. He was 35, soon 36, he would be lucky if he reached 50 years old. You moved from his lap so you could be sitting besides him, your gaze on his.
"You promise, John? I'll drown you in the lake if you die on me soon"
He cackled, a bit forced, he couldn't promise it, but he wasn't going to tell you that, white lies sounded much better right now.
"I promise ya, darlin'"
You frowned, and squeezed his face "Swear it"
His eyes moved down to your lips, then back to your eyes, he managed to get your hands off him.
He brought you closer and closed his eyes, then leaned in until your lips locked together.
At first, you didn't seem to know what he was doing, but quickly imitated him, closed yours eyes and followed suit, kissing him in the same manner he was kissing you.
It wasn't rushed or harsh, there could be time for that in the future.
For now what mattered is that he was here, he didn't intend to leave.
John parted away from the kiss and wiped away the small string of saliva that was left behind over your chin.
when reading fics on John, and it's the film version, which is okay, I can just read dunno blue instead of brown, I have the power of imagination, but then on top of that he's so poorly characterized that even the people of tiktok make him seem more on character
a date, a walk in the park and some minor inconveniences.
a/n: it was supposed to be something else but i got the sprinklers turned on right into my face while walking to the train station so it's what it is. Also I had this in my drafts for a while so here you have it.
warnings: none, fluffy (i can't help it). slightly spicier mention at the end but nothing too scandalous.
The sound of droplets could be heard hitting the glass of the window, a monotonous sound to start the morning with.
Soft sheets covered you, and the duvet brought a nice, warm touch.
You tried to turn around only to find yourself stuck in the spot.
John's arm was over your middle, impeding you to be freed.
You looked at his face, he looked somewhat tranquil for once.
You snuggled closer to him and exhaled in a dreamy manner. There was something comforting about the rain, and being able to spend the morning in bed with him also turned the moment into something soft, romantic even.
If John was awake you were sure he would disagree with you.
He likes the rain, it washes away the evil, it hides the ugliness, in a way it is tied to himself, mingled with his very soul. Romantic isn't the word he would use.
Familiar, like something that clings to you and refuses to let go until the only thing you have left is to get used to it.
It occults the vile things of life with its cold, soaked hug.
A veil would be a more fitting word.
John suddenly moved if just slightly. A yawn went past his lips as he tried to rub the tiredness off his eyes.
"Mornin' beaut" He pecked your temple and moved his hand to your hair.
His gaze turned to the window, observing the drops glide over the surface.
"Ya still wanna go for that date?" He was a little bit skeptical, he wouldn't mind grabbing an umbrella and going out in the rain, but it would be less of a pain in the ass if it wasn't raining.
You nodded, "Mhm, it's not pouring down hard anyways, it might peter out soon" You smiled and pinched his side, that's what he got for sleeping only in his questionable choice of underwear with silly patterns.
"Besides, even if it doesn't, it might be romantic, a walk under the rain, sharing an umbrella..."
He scoffed, "Did ya hit your head in the headboard while you slept?"
"John!"
John simply shrugged it off with a laugh. Then pinched your waist.
Oh. Bastard. He hadn't forgotten, he must have been waiting to get you back.
You smacked his arm in retaliation which only earned another laugh from him.
He then brought you closer to himself in a way that you were over his lap as he started to kiss your face, not in a demanding or sexual way, it just seemed like he wanted to share some of his affections today.
You appreciated the gesture, touch wasn't always easy for John, you knew that, even if he touches and he likes to touch, it doesn't mean he will always be up for giving or receiving.
But when he was comfortable enough to do so?
Well, it wasn't a bad way of starting the morning.
Outside, well it was still pretty much raining, and since you insisted on getting breakfast in a small cafeteria you liked so much, he was juggling both a cup of hot coffee and an umbrella to keep you dry.
You were happily munching a scone as you walked through the park you were now in, from time to time you would offer him a bite that he accepted without questioning much.
"Thanks luv" He said between mouthfuls of the offered pastry.
"Oh! Look, John!" He followed to where you were pointing just to see a small gathering of ducks on the small pond in the center of the park.
"Aren't they cute? We should feed them bread or something"
He hummed, since you were both still now, he used the small pause to finish his coffee, "Ducks can't eat bread, ya daft cow"
"Oh... that's true, they can't really eat it," You sighed, only to turn at John with a pitiful looking expression in your face, "But look at the poor babies..."
He threw the now empty paper cup into a bin and handed you the umbrella so he could lit a cigarette.
"It's okay, darlin' ya can come back another day with things they can eat, they are not gonna go away" You watched as he spoke with the cigarette dangling from his lips. It was hypnotizing how he managed to talk without it dropping.
"Fine, but we're coming back tomorrow"
"Oh? You're invitin' little old me to another date? Is that what I'm hearin'?" John smirked and blew out some of the smoke close to your face, the smoke caused you to cough a bit and mutter a clear "Jackass" that only got a laugh from him.
After the walk through the park, you were both back in your flat that was slowly starting to be invaded by John's belongings.
He had convinced you to ordering Chinese because apparently he "couldn't bother to fuckin' cook" and "ya shouldn't neither"
After eating, you spent the rest of the night binge watching tv not without hearing John's complaints about why "this one was a shitty show" or that one was so "full of itself" or whatever he meant by that before setting on a channel he didn't seem to dislike so much.
When you fell asleep, he simply covered you both with a blanket and lowered the volume of the tv. He didn't mind you sleeping on him in the same way he didn't mind sleeping on the couch together for a night.
You were cheerfully dragging him across the park, he struggled to catch his breath between "Slow down darlin'" and "Me poor joints aren't what they used to be". At least it wasn't raining today, if he was he was sure he would slip and break a bone.
Why had he decided that it was a good idea to bring up that you could go to the pet store and buy seeds? You were happy to see the ducks again, but now you actually could feed them, you were practically ecstatic.
He rolled his eyes. If you were this excited about a couple of pests with feathers he could get a feather boa for sure.
As soon as you reached the edge of the pond, you sat down and fished the seeds from your bag, you practically tore the thing open and started to toss its contents to the water.
A small amount of ducks started to gather next to you.
Even a mum with her ducklings. Aw.
John seemed... well, less interested than you were, so while he tried to relax his breathing in the midst of lighting a cigarette he took a couple steps back.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" Your voice made him raise a brow.
"Why? Afraid I'm gonna lose meself in the park, hun?" He cackled and took a deep drag of the cigarette, "I'm alright sweet cheeks just keep overfeedin' the buggers while I linger 'ere"
You shrugged, he looked at his watch, it had hit nine o'clock, he wasn't in a rush and you seemed to be enjoying yourself so he didn't mind staying in the park while you feed your beloved feathery creatures.
Although, he found it weird that you were looking at him over your shoulder now and then.
That's when he heard it.
A low hiss. Water. The sprinklers of the park.
He didn't have time to dodge it, and soon enough he was drenched in water, his hair was soaked and the cigarette between his lips turned off forcefully.
John blinked several times and tried to wipe the water off his face with his hand, now he knew why you had told him not to move back.
"Don't ya say it" John huffed.
"I told you so" You turned away from the ducks to focus on John and stood up to get closer to him, then exploded in laughter.
You offered him a tissue from your bag which earned a scowl, you could practically hear him thinking "Are ya fuckin' serious? What am I supposed to do with a bloody tissue?"
He still took the tissue from you and dragged it all over his face and neck.
"Even your undies must be dripping wet" A small chuckle managed to escape past your lips.
His shirt had stuck to his body, the fabric was starting to become translucent. It was weird how he managed to be scrawny and have a pudge at the same time.
If you had to guess it was probably due his tendency to overindulge with drinks.
"I can think of a tonne better ways of bein' wet luv, much better ways, like that time in that changin' room when-" He didn't finish what he was saying and huffed as you kept laughing, he looked like a stray soaked kitten left in a box.
"What are ya laughin' at? It ain't funny" Suddenly as if struck by a malicious intent, he smirked.
One step, then another. Tap, tap, so close to you now.
He wasn't going to-
He wouldn't dare no?
You yelped at the sudden cold feeling.
"John Constantine, you fucking jerk!" You struggled to break free as he squeezed and rubbed himself all over you, intending to get as much water as he could on you.
"C'mon, don't wanna give yer poor Scouse a little kissy kiss?" He made obscene wet sounds as he puckered his lips up.
You quickly pecked his lips, you were already drenched so it was not like you could change that, and huffed.
"You're sleeping in the couch today"
"Worth it"
He said with the biggest grin his lips could offer. Besides, both of you knew that he was going to slip into your bed at some point of the night and that if you didn't cast him out for a second time, he would snore the rest of night away between your arms.
But being gross after the gig in that pub? Totally worthy.
He smelt like if a cat that had decided to go to die inside a liquor store and somehow people had forgotten about the poor creature. The sweat made his clothes stick to his skin in an uncomfortable manner and the mix of it with the alcohol was less than pleasant.
He winced after rubbing one of his hands over his face, his palm had now blood on it, his lip was bloody, and swollen.
Had he gone into a fight? Most probably, there were lots of wankers in London and he didn't seem to particularly care about giving them a piece of his mind.
A crystal clear shop window, too small for anyone to really notice what was inside that shop, if you could call it that, returned his reflection staring back at him. His hair? A mess. His makeup? Long time since it got smudged.
And that nasty cut seemed to be pulsating with life. Ugh.
You were totally gonna kill him if he stepped like that into your shop.
But what else was he supposed to do?
He was covered up to the neck in shite.
Spiritual shite.
Why must it be those creatures? They didn't listen to him at all, they wouldn't even waste their time in trying to make him feel tingly and connected to nature most of the time.
And if they did? It was rough.
That's why he needed a guide.
Why he needed you.
It would be just a teensy tiny of a favour, something quick, he could make it up to you later.
He sighed and pushed the door open.
A dimly lit room awaited him inside, candles, books, all kinds of trinkets scattered around the whole room in a whirlwind of chaos and a strong smell that was a mix of incense and herbs.
"Hey, luv?" He cleared his throat to make himself heard, with the amount of things in just a single place it looked as if it was about to swallow him whole or collapse over him, whatever happened first.
"Ya there?" He was about to push some kind of wind chime made from numerous random things when your voice startled him slightly.
"Don't you dare to touch anything with those hands!"
Your gaze was pierced in him, he raised his arms up, surrendering. Where did you even come from? It was as if you had a sixth sense for whenever he was about to go through your things.
"Yeah, good to see ya too, darlin" He smirked, it could have been kinda charming if it wasn't for the open gash in his lip that was dripping over his t-shirt. He cleaned his lip with the back of his hand and again, winced at the movement.
You grumbled something along the lines of "Always messing up my things" "Stupid blond" and about him being "disgraceful"
Yet you were already mixing some herbs and grinding them with the help of a mortar and a pestle to spread them over his dumbass face.
Weren't you such a bleeding heart with a talent for being an apothecary?
Once the herbs had taken the shape of a thick paste, you grabbed his chin, dipped your fingers in the herbal mix and started to spread it over his wound.
"Don't move, yeah?" You muttered as you worked gently on his face.
"And what if I do?" He had a grin on his face as if he was daring you to call him out for what he was doing.
"Then I might stick my finger into your lip, John"
That shut him up quickly, but not before muttering that you had a "piss poor taste in humour" as he kindly put it.
He stared at your face, at your hair held back by a headband and full of tiny little things here and there, beads, feathers, clips. It was as if you had decided to make a collage out of it, and he wouldn't be surprised if you had a stripe of a different colour underneath all that. It even jingled every time you moved.
But most importantly? He was looking at you.
Almost intensely. To the point it was, obvious, very much so.
You coughed to catch his attention, his eyes moved back at yours.
"You're staring"
"I'm not"
"You are"
John rolled his eyes, it felt as if you calling him out was the most bothersome thing you could have ever done.
"You have weird shite in yer hair" A shrug, you let go of his face and he grabbed a chair and sat down on it. The chairs had to be the only things without a handful of random things over them. You followed suit and sat across from him.
"A friend of mine likes to put things in my hair, I simply let her"
John hummed, although a small frown took a hold of his lips for a fraction of a second. Did he find himself wanting to put things in your hair too? No, of course not, nonsense.
"Well, yer friend has a bloody shitty taste"
You found yourself sighing, ignoring his comments, oh how you wished you had stuck your finger in his lip when you had the opportunity. The bastard deserved it.
"Anyways, you were here because?" Your brow raised, questioning him, you took into his appearance, dirty was the tamest word for it, "I don't think you just came to me to fix your lip, no?"
He feigned an offended gasp. He had even put his hand over his chest in a very dramatic fashion.
"Ya wound me, darlin'! Do ya think I only come to ya for favours? Not cause of my undying devotion to ya?"
He was sprawled in the chair with his head thrown back. By what he was doing you might as well think he had been shot and these were his final moments.
"C'mon, cut it Johnny boy" You chuckled at his theatrics, although you felt a bit worried. If anything, John Constantine didn't tend to ask for favours so he might be between a rock and a hard place.
He suddenly stood up, as if he was sprung back to life, he started to walk towards you in a slow pace with his hands slightly raised up as if trying to look menacing in a playful manner.
He looked stupid, for a lack of a better word for it.
Once he got close enough, you put your hand in his cheek, pushing his face away. To which he simply bit your finger.
It didn't hurt, not really, but you yelped, he had had his dramatic moment so it was only fair you had yours.
"Hey! Don't bite me, you moron!"
He let go and smirked, he still had his lip pretty much swollen, the expression of his face quickly changed from impish to a more serious instance. Was the problem that serious?
He shrugged and shifted his gaze to you, his eyes felt piercing at the very least "Ya see, darlin' the spirits don't like me much, ye? But they like ya, even when I'm the most charming option"
You huffed and muttered a simple "John" that he seemed to pay no mind to.
"Teach me how to do it luv" He was going to keep talking when you cut him off.
"It takes some time, years to even-"
It was his turn to cut you off.
"I know it does, the bloody thing takes time because ya need to be tuned with the buggers or some shite like that, no? Well ya are tuned with them, just grab me from behind and move me hands"
He grinned as he wriggled his eyebrows, it was a piss poor intent at a crass joke but it had some hint of truth to it. You could always be his guide, it was not that difficult to accomplish.
The first time he had "communed with the spirits", as you liked to call it, it had been weird, intense, even intimate.
You were positioned behind him chanting something as you held his hands.
For him? For him it was much worse.
It felt like there was something moving inside his veins, as if every single nerve end was being stimulated at once. It felt as if he had decided that it was a good idea to stick a fork into an outlet.
You on the other hand were doing just fine, it was normal for you after all, still even if it was also normal to be a bit queasy or affected for a first time experience you didn't expect Constantine to be so shaken up.
You decided to let go of his hands, to break the connection for now.
"Let's leave it at that, yeah? You look like you're about to puke your insides, and if you do, you're cleaning it up with your own very tongue" It was a lighthearted attempt at being playful, you smiled.
He didn't move a muscle in response, he just dropped over the plush rug of the room in which you two were performing the ritual. His chest was going up and down with heavy breaths again and again.
He really was out of his element, seeing John so out of his typical demeanour, from the usual pride and cockiness he tended to carry himself with to having him laid in a rug, with his eyes closed probably begging to the room to stop spinning in a way that was almost endearing.
You hummed and brushed some of his hair away from his forehead, he moved just slightly so he could have his head rested on your thighs.
"Ya are a bloody lying bastard," He managed to grumble "Ya said the worst thing that would happen is getting queasy"
You snickered as you looked down at him, you hadn't moved the hand from his hair.
"Thought you were tougher than this Constantine"
A frown adorned his face, he turned into his side and muttered a "fuck off" before his breath had started to grow a bit softer.
The whole affair must have been seriously draining for him to willingly fall asleep.
John and you had grown closer since that first time.
Outings, more sessions to "commune with the spirits" since he wasn't getting any better.
Hell, he had even started to drop an "Oi we're playing in this pub tonight" whenever he wanted to see you around.
And of course, you didn't mind going, the setting was always wild, pure, so freeing, as if everyone could be whatever they wanted without any impediment.
In the midst of that he started to sneak you into the backstage, that most of the time consisted of a dirty couch in the storage room of the pub if they were lucky.
At first, it was just silly conversations while he smoked before actually going out to perform with the rest of the group.
Like, "why do you have mixed shoelaces, John?" He would take a drag, then exhale the smoke out and shrug, only to respond with a smirk "why not? Don't ya think yellow and purple look good on me?"
You had learnt later what it meant. It was so John to do these kinds of things, you started to do the same which didn't go unnoticed by him. He enjoyed that you had picked after one of the few good habits he had.
One day, before another show in a random pub, he simply sat a bit closer than usual, again, talking about everything and nothing at the same time.
That's when his hand came to lay over your thigh, just testing the waters.
You didn't pull away.
He took it as an invitation and his hand started to creep a bit higher, his fingers barely brushing the inside of your legs as he settled over you.
He still had that stupid smirk on his face, but you could see in his eyes that he was as eager as you were for this.
He put his hands around your waist, you slid yours under his shirt, touching his bare back, which caused him to hiss.
"Bloody fucking hell..." He leaned down to mutter to your ear.
Suddenly a tentative lick, you arched your neck back. He bit down your lobe and didn't waste a minute to move towards the crook of your neck.
Kisses, nibbles, slobber, he was making sure to make a canvas out of your skin. Your neck, your jaw, he moved up and down, not wanting to leave an inch of skin untouched by his lips.
He pulled back, gasping, admiring his handiwork, he looked so fucking proud of himself at that moment and you seemed equally out of breath as he was. That only stroke his ego even more.
He looked at your lips, if you had your eyes settled on the prize the only thing left was taking it, no?
He lowered down and smacked his lips against you impatiently as if he wanted to merge with you in one. You squeezed his waist with your legs and you swore in between the kissing he had let out a moan into your mouth, or a groan at the very least.
His hands fumbled with his belt, uncoordinatedly, messy, needy.
You could see his cock pretty much straining against his trousers. His gaze seemed unfocused, his breathing erratic.
You looked almost as affected.
Just when he had managed to undo his belt and was about to slide it off the last loop, a knock, then another.
He groaned yes, but out of annoyance.
He looked like he wanted to murder someone.
"Oi! Ya wanker, show is starting whether ya are ready or not!" It was clearly Gaz's voice calling him, not worthy of trying to play the fool.
You seemed disappointed too but laughed anyways "Well, seems like Johnny Con-Job has work to do, eh?"
If he got his hands on Gaz he was going to strangle him himself for, unknowingly, cock blocking him.
Should have picked better mates.
"Johnny was already in the middle of a more pleasurable work" He grumbled as he got off you. He was still visibly hard and aching.
You wondered how much of a pain in the ass would be having to actually play the show with that.
"It's rude to interrupt a lad when he's in the middle of snogging the life out of a lass, I'll tell ya darlin'"
He sighed and put his belt on again, he tried to look as normal as he could, but it was clear he was hot and bothered.
They were all gonna laugh at his arse for that, he was sure of it.
