Pairing: Kermit/Piggy (Kermiggy)
Genre: Romance/Pining Angst
A/N: Inspired by the 9:20 Mark of this Vanity Fair video where they took a Lie Dector Test.
Okay....so this turned to be more emotional angsty then I anticipated.
I may do another version that's a bit more comedic given the energy of the clip that originally inspired this? My original intent was for Piggy to be in comedic denial before eventually caving but.....this took on a mind of its own...as stories tend to do.
But then again this may work better?
ANYWAY, have a long overdue, soft, romantic, but emotionally angsty Kermiggy fic. Still post-breakup. Let me know what you guys think!
Wrote this on Android Mobile so plz forgive any typos!
He had asked her, if she had any secrets...and the hesitation in her eyes, in her voice, spoke volumes.
The fact that she'd ended up escalated to a rapid fire avalanche of confusing responses that didn't make sense, while annoying at the time, just made everything all the more suspicious in hindsight.
But she didn't know, that the Proctor had pulled Kermit off to the side post the Vanity Fair shoot, and shown him the printout results of the lie dector...
They were...interesting...so say the least.
Before she had disconnected the machine..that last question...about any secrets she'd had from him.....yielded...intriguing results.
Enough that he felt it had warranted a follow-up.
So that night, he had actually decided to treat her to a dinner at one of her favorite, fancy resturants--one they had often frequented when they were still together.
She had been on a very anxious high since the shoot, so he'd decided to treat her to calm her down...
...and, if he were honest, to lower her guard juuust enough for his plan to work.
Becsuse he's needed to know the truth, and Piggy hobestly always got a little loose when she was slightly tipsy, relaxed, and safe....with him.
She always felt safe with him.
So about 45 minutes into their evening, after indulging themselves in a steak dinner with Piggy having down just a little over a third of her glass of wine...Kermit noticed that she'd been a bit more giggly and chatty.
He had missed that side of her honestly, it was still cute.
"T-that Proctor lady was crazy, honestly! Didn't you think so, Kermie? The test was rigged! It wasn't fair, I d-didn't lie about anything!"
"Sooo you're not intimidated by Cate Blanchet?" he said with a smirk. She pouted,
"Sh-shaddup..." she muttered. He chuckled,
"I'm just teasing, Piggy."
She stuck her tongue out at him before giggling again, then sighing...longingly.. as she made eye contact with him.
"I've missed this..." she said, slowly sliding her hand across the table to gently brush her fingers against his.
He swallowed, feeling his heart increase as he noticed that her eyes had a hint of that twinkle she always used to have when she looked at him.
She'd tried do hard to stifle it....he hadn't seen it in months.
Slowly, Kermit gave her fingers a gentle squeeze, before gently moving to hold her wrists in his hands, his fingers softly caressing the insides of her wrists.
A beat....as he could feel her heart racing under his fingertips. He took a breath, beforr fixing her with his gaze.
He opened his mouth, then closed it....deciding to ease into first.
"What do you think about me?"
She blinked, surprised at his random question, before smirking,
"Whaddya mean? Y-you're my best friend, silly! What a funny question!"
A small grin tugged at his lips, "You're mine too."
She looked down, blushing shyly.
"....So....you still care about me?"
Her head shot up, her eyes going wide before shifting into hurt that he'd even ask.
"Of course, I never stopped..." she said softly. Then added, "What's with you all of a sudden?"
He opened his mouth...the next question on the tip of his tongue...."Do you still love me?" .....but he couldn't....it was too loaded.
Instead, he looked down at her hands in his own, her the pulsation of her heart was a bit calmer now under his fingers. He rubbed her skin again, gently. Then looked up...
"Are you sure....you don't have any secrets you want to tell me?"
She opened her mouth...the froze.
He was staring at her... just waiting.
Oh. She wanted to tell him....tell him that she still loved him. She never stopped.
But she couldn't....she couldn't open that door.
She bit her lip, trying to think of a response, looked down in deep thought. Her heatts had started to increase in rhythm, but Kermit gently squeezed her hand.
Then, she looked up, fixing him with a steady gaze of her own.
"You....you mean the world to me," she said softly, her eyes tearing up a little, "Always have. That's never stopped. It never will," she said.
And it was all she could offer now.
A beat, before he gave her a gentle smile. He then lifted her hand, and pressed a gentle, lingering kiss against her skin--just over where his thumb could feel her pulse point, which increased as she gasped.
"You mean the world to me too," he whispered, shifting his lips against the palm of her hand.
She held her breath as he pulled back, "You'll always have my heart, Piggy."
She swallowed, "...And you'll always have mine," she whispered.
Because even though it went unsaid....they both knew, that Kermit now knew her deepest secret.
