Hello!First things first, your art is absolutely stunning!Commissioned you at FurReality and the quality of the art was amazing! What brand of sketchbooks do you prefer?I'm searching for a new one that would work great with alcohol based markers(copics, prismas, ect)I remember one of you showing me a really nice green sketchbook and I loved it!If you don't mind, could you tell me the brand and/or any other good brands? Thanks a bunch!
sure! glad you liked the art you bought, thanks for coming to see us!
i use a plain moleskine 7.5x10 in softcover sketchbook for normal sketching (it’s got a beige cover–this might have been the greenish looking one?)
they are expensive but i have a very specific preference for the thin, slightly tinted, slightly translucent, smooth paper that moleskine uses in their softcovers. (the thicker paper in the hardcovers does not take any wet (or dry, honestly) media well in my experience and the tinted coating tends to rub off noticeably.) the paper is super thin though! you will need to use a scrap sheet if you don’t want marker to bleed through to other pages.
i also use a large canson XL mixed media sketchbook for badges and con commissions. they’re cheap and sturdy and the paper is designed to take almost any media. depending on how much marker layering you’re doing, you still might need to use a scrap sheet though. better safe than sorry!
Kris uses a Maruman art spiral–they apparently also take all media really well, and can be used as double-sided pages if desired. it really comes down to personal preference!
