*Sigh*
What incredibly bad and stupid thing has happened now?
Somewhat tempted to make a post about taxes and demanding that it be labeled as mature content.
writing tip: put words on page. hope this helps. i will not be taking questions because i have not done this
Wait, how did those words get there then?
So question about The Mandalorian and Grogu:
-The Hutts contracted the Mandalorian to bring them Rotta the Hutt, in exchange for information on Coyne.
-The Hutts wanted to kill Rotta because he was a threat to their power
-Coyne was planning to kill Rotta instead of giving him freedom
-Coyne and the Hutts were in communication, and working together.
So why did they hire the Mandalorian? Rotta was already set up to die?
why is this post completely broken in every way imaginable
Broken notes⦠deactivated account⦠removed imageā¦.
Finally, we have them all.
In addition: OPās name is just⦠gone. No ā[insert username]-deactivated[insert a bunch of numbers]ā as is the standard for deactivated blogs.
Just the world ādeactivated.ā Look upon their post, ye mighty, and despair.
Itāll be almost impossible to find this post unless it wanders across your dash.
It wandered across mine. I shall help it travel forward.
this is not a place of honor
Oh hey post of Ozymandius, good to see you again standing on your feet in a desert where no one remembers you
Soldier your mission is to be a seat filler at our 80 year old president's big birthday fight! Strong sexy hunks ONLY! Absolutely NO uggos!
Also you have to pay to get there yourself. Feel like that really encapsulates the whole thing.
So I reread the Ellimist Chronicles, and comparing it to the rest of the timeline as I remember, I'm curious about the death of the Pemalites. It was thousands of years ago, but that was millions of years after the Ellimist and Crayak began their game.
That means that their extinction was part of the grand game they were playing. So how did the Ellimist allow it? What did he receive in exchange for the extinction of one of his people? Did Crayak outplay him, was it a sacrifice play, or was he spending his energy focusing on something else?
If there's any lore that I missed, would love to hear it, but right now I'm just trying to cook up a story to explain it.
it's still killing me that the doctor and the master are canonically each other's emergency contacts. who gets your will when you think you're about to die oh right it's the guy that's been trying to kill you. for centuries
Could be a fun episode, where the Doctor is actively dying (regeneration blocked for plot reasons) and the Master is running around trying to save them because "no one is allowed to kill you except me!"
Actually saves the Doctor, and immediately shoots them to force a regeneration, because anything else would imply that the Master actually cares about the Doctor, and we can't have that, can we?
in absolute tears about the pride module at my work
HOLY SHIT GUYS, I WAS INSPIRED BY THIS POST TO TRY MAKE THE SONG AND YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE THE SCREAM I SCRUMPT WHEN I DRAGGED THE TRAINING AUDIO OVER THE BACKING TRACK AND IT LINED UP PERFECTLY
Tempted to actually put this on spotify so I can secretly stream it at work...
Tagging @batshit-auspol because as an Australian you're the only big account I know who might share (sorry).
happy first day of pride everyone
house of leaves / goncharov esque project consisting of the paratext of a nonexistent text where the described-but-unseen source material is an 800 page rulebook for the worst tabletop game you've ever heard of and the paratext is a series of arguments and blog posts generated by insane forum users
Honestly, that would be a fun project to work on with a bunch of rules lawyers and lore masters. I wanna see how they all defend their personal perspective referencing a text that doesn't exist, and struggling to keep the arguments internally consistent with said nonexistent text.
GO HARD OR GO HOME.
Adding on to this:
That's where Vash's character starts, but it's not the core of his character. It's cool, it's impressive, but it tells you almost nothing about who he is as a person.
Vash is someone who believes in love and peace, to the point of self destruction. He will literally stop trying to save an entire shipload of people from certain death because one of the people holding them hostage is bleeding AFTER this person has shot Vash, because he can't accept the idea of casualties.
He wants to save everyone, and refuses to accept the reality that that isn't always possible. When shown a butterfly caught in a spider's web, he tries to save the butterfly, despite the fact that that means the spider will starve. When someone else solves the problem by killing the spider, and pointing out that it needs to eat to live, Vash doesn't have an answer. He just says that he wants to save both of them, without having an actual idea of how to do that.
And he pays for this perspective. A big part of his character arc is failing to save people, and dealing with the consequences of that failure. He's seen people gunner down in front of him. He's watched enemies choose death over surrender. One of the biggest moments is when he is forced to take a life to keep people he loves from suffering, and it breaks him. He's convinced that there has to be a solution where nobody dies, and blames his own weakness for failing to reach that goal, rather than abandon his idealism.
In the end, he refuses to let this go. The way he grows beyond this is recognizing that he can always try again, and do better next time. He finally understands "the ticket to the future is always open" means that you can fail, and pick yourself back up to try again. It forces him to accept that he will fail, that he can't save everyone, but that he can always pick himself up and try again. Maybe he'll do better next time. He'll never know if he gives up.
THAT"S what makes him a great character. Not the super gun skills, not the superweapon he carries, not his transdimensional powers. It's fighting for an idealistic vision that is incompatible with reality, and refusing to give up on it despite everything that's thrown at him.
RABBITS! RABBITS! RABBITS!
Reblog this on the first of the month for good luck all month long!
In 1998, the Czech hockey team went to the Olympics.
In 2014, a documentary was made about them.
That documentary begins with an *extended* Evangelion op homage, and it's *INCREDIBLE*
Damn that's awesome.
I also love how it is such a good Opener in general
It really sets the tone. Introduces the big concepts. Establishes historical context.
And Cruel Angel's Thesis is a bop.
These two giant turtles have been fighting each other for more than 120 years.
According to the zoo, one turtle stole the otherās food 120 years ago, and since that day they became enemies.
