Keep your messaging simple:
“Trump fired everyone in charge of airplane safety, and a week later planes started crashing into each other.”
That’s it. That’s the messaging. Don’t get bogged down disputing Trump’s false claims. Just blame him, in short and repeatable sentences.
Trump removed bird safety regulations in his first term and now bird flu is killing so many laying hens that eggs are $5 a carton
Trump removed food safety standards his first term and now we have recalls every few weeks
Trump cut the subsidies for the solar farms under construction so now electricity costs more
Trump disbanded the pandemic response team and we now we have bird flu and tuberculosis outbreaks
Btw, this is how conservatives keep getting to claim that trans people are a new thing no one has ever heard, because our history and existences have continually been erased or obscured systematically through out history.
The most famous example was 92 years when the Nazis raided the library of the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, the medical practice where the term transsexual was first coined and the first gender affirming surgery was performed in in 1931.
What did the Nazis do after raiding the library on May 6th, 1933? You may be familiar with these images
It is happening again.
I am not fucking around when I say yes, this person is correct. It is happening again.
They already burned almost the entire NIH Office of Research on Women's Health. That was an entire fucking division, even if it was a small one.
The entire website for the NIH Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) is very nearly stripped bare. This is so, so devastating. https:/
And of course there's the sheer volume of the data that has been purged from the CDC's website:
Research and basic information on subjects ranging from tuberculosis surveillance to adolescent health disappeared from federal health agenc

I don't wanna see ANYONE talking about how they won't be voting for Harris in November because of Palestine. This is the best it can possibly get. We're all depending on you. Vote.
This is the best it can possibly get.
I'm highlighting this because I can already hear people saying that it isn't enough, that her call for a ceasefire doesn't go far enough, that she's still playing nice with Israel.
And yeah! Of course she is! Because unfortunately, Israel is a long-time ally of the US, and our strongest ally in the middle east. We are bound to them by various treaties and agreements. And in politics, in diplomacy, you can't just tell your allies "fuck off and die," even when it would be oh so satisfying, even when they deserve it. When you do that, you lose any influence you have over them, and you run the very real risk of causing more chaos that will make things worse for everyone, including the people you want to help.
There's also the fact that within the US, there are a LOT of people who condemn what Israel is currently doing but do not, at least not right now, condemn Israel itself. For some this is a well-thought-out position, for others it's the result of decades of propaganda about an allied nation. If a candidate wants to have a chance to make things better for the people of Palestine, they first have to get elected, so they can't afford to alienate those people. Criticize Netanyahu and the current offensive, yes. Criticize Israel's legitimacy as a whole? No.
So no, at this point in history you're not going to get a presidential candidate chanting "from the river to the sea." It's not feasible, and saying "well it should be!" won't change reality. But what is feasible is working within the bounds of politics to pressure our ally to stop the genocide and save the lives of the people currently under fire, and it sounds like that's what Harris is committing to do.
The choice is between someone committing to seeking a ceasefire vs someone who actively wants Israel to succeed in its genocide. This should be the easiest fucking decision in the history of elections. You are not going to get a better option. No better viable option exists.
This is the best it can possibly get. And it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative.
This is frustrating.
I love the comparison, but I hate how they are comparing.
They are acting like she is using optics to give herself an advantage. But the device she is wearing is just for comfort and essentially does the same thing as closing one eye and squinting the other.
The little thing over the left eye is basically like an eye patch.
And the thing over her right eye is a mechanical iris, like in a camera lens, but it is NOT a lens.
Different lighting environments are going to be brighter or darker and you may have to squint more or less to let in the same amount of light into your eye. Squinting allows the shooter to get the sharpest possible vision in order to shoot a bullseye the size of a 12-point Times New Roman period.
But if you have to squint for hours for practice and in competition, this can strain your face muscles and become uncomfortable. So this iris basically squints for you.
It's more like wearing comfortable shoes so your feet do not hurt than a lens magnifying the target and giving an advantage.
Both athletes have access to these items. One felt more comfortable without them. The other didn't feel like getting a muscle cramp from squinting all day.
Either would have shot the same if they had or had not used these devices.
Just a funny difference in gear preference.
I should also add, the Turkish dad is the only one using lenses.
I'd just like to add that Kim Yeji may look like a cool cyborg badass, but she and the Turkish dad only won silver.
The gold medal winner in the women's air pistol finals was adorable and a bit overshadowed.
Oh Ye-jin, who is only 19, won gold and set an Olympic record with her final score.
Kim Yeji is her mentor and seems very supportive of her.
Also, Oh Ye-jin added a little heart to the barrel blocking thingie.
I mean, it's like she got lost at summer camp and just wandered into the Olympics to win gold.
I think she deserves some attention too.
When I was watching the competition I kept wondering why they never showed the actual target as it was being shot. On the broadcast they just show a graphic of the target.
And then the commentator said the bullseye was literally the size of a period—smaller than the actual pellets they are shooting. And that the entire target was the size of a coin.
They'd have to set up a macro lens next to every target for you to see them.
Pretty much every shot lands within the 3 inner circles. And if you hit the 3rd circle your shot is basically garbage. Like you'd see the shooters grimace and do an angry little foot stomp if they hit it there.
Like, if you get a 7 you might as well go home.
And the best shot possible is a 10.9—which would be hitting as close to the bullseye as can be measured.
This was Oh Ye-jin's final gold medal winning shot.
A 10.6!
It's absolutely bonkers how precise these shooters are.
I mean... look at this period...
.
Now imagine trying to shoot it from 30 feet away.
I don't think my old ass could even see the damned thing.
Thank you for the context, my nearsighted ass did NOT know this.

I’m sorry, you fucking drew this?
Minnesota’s Giant Rainbow and Leather Pride Flags
June 28, 1998. Both flags measured approximately 50 feet wide and 75 feet long.
Friendly reminder that the leather flag predates almost every other flag. We owe this community to leather daddies and kinksters
In the era of corporate sanitization never forget it was leather daddies and S&M folks who protected some of the earliest pride parades.
The Panthers used to ride around and follow the police.
So the cops would pull over some sorry black person, and get ready to rough him up, but then there were the Panthers right behind them. Watching, armed to the teeth, and citing legal statutes. It’s inspirational.
Bring it back.
Bring this back.
For real.
That’s why the FBI broke them up, isn’t it ?
That among other community initiatives. They had weapons training, self defense, their free breakfast program and ran a newspaper. They raised money to pay for bail and legal funding for people. And they used to notify the community of their rights and encourage people to know the laws and protest the one which were unjust. That type of shit irked the local police and damned sure struck a nerve with the FBI. They were taking back the streets and providing the protection the police were never interested in bringing to their neighborhoods from the very start. So it’s always fuck the FBI for me.
To be more specific they were communists distributing and teaching communist theory to their communities. Their organization also functioned and was organized by Marxism. And within that context it was Very Bad for the Black Panthers to be doing a better job of taking care of their communities than capitalists were.
For example, aside from aiming to monitor and end police brutality they also cared Deeply about their communities. So much that they also provided healthcare which included ambulances and vaccines. Black neighborhoods often had to wait Way longer for ambulances when necessary so the Black Panthers stepped up. They even had free clinics-funded by donations and ran by professionals- that provided some basic services that Black people were being underserved in.
Each local chapter was responsible for raising funds for its clinic from local businesses, churches, and healthcare professionals. Trusted volunteer professionals staffed the free clinics. These professionals included physicians, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, and medical students who also trained community members to staff the clinics as lab technicians, patient advocates, and community health workers.
[…]PFMCs primarily provided first aid and basic services such as childhood vaccinations and screenings for high blood pressure, lead poisoning, tuberculosis, and diabetes. In 1971 PFMCs began community education and screening of sickle cell anemia, a genetic disease mainly affecting people of African ancestry.

Free breakfast in school?
Also the Black Panthers. They saw hungry kids who were getting bad grades and falling asleep and decided to feed them to see if it helped. It did. So much so that schools and governments started implementing it.
Free Breakfast For School Children was one of the most effective. It began in January 1969 at an Episcopal church in Oakland, and within weeks it went from feeding a handful of kids to hundreds. The program was simple: party members and volunteers went to local grocery stores to solicit donations, consulted with nutritionists on healthful breakfast options for children, and prepared and served the food free of charge.
School officials immediately reported results in kids who had free breakfast before school. “The school principal came down and told us how different the children were,” Ruth Beckford, a parishioner who helped with the program, said later. “They weren’t falling asleep in class, they weren’t crying with stomach cramps.

Between healthcare, Marxism, providing food, monitoring police, and showing everyone that aid could be provided through voluntary donations and free of cost to those receiving it….
The Black Panthers were dangerous to capitalism.
It’s why cointelpro targeted them.
